nzSkitzo
Hi everyone, I am trying to send MIDI to my Linn Drum from Logic 8 and not having much luck. Has anyone had this working on a JL Cooper LinnDrum? I have tried reading the manual and searching Google, youtube etc Here is what I have done: Both the switches are off on the JLCooper MIDI board i.e. factory default settings (Sync/Setup). I have the dips set to on-off-off-off i.e. Channel 2. In Logic I went into the environment/midi instrument screen and added an new instrument. I assigned it to the correct midi out port (Axiom Pro Ext Out) and set the midi channel to 2. I then added a new tack and assigned it to MIDI Instrument/Linn Drum. Now when I hit record in Logic and press the drum pads on the Linn the correct midi shows up and is entered into a new region in the Linn Drum Logic track (and sound is heard as I press the buttons). However when I play it back logic shows that it is playing midi and in the transport panel it shows midi out and the notes etc but the Linn doesn't play the midi to my speakers (I have tried it direct into my guitar amp and also back into logic so I know that the sound output does work). I have tested every key in the range from F2-F8 or whatever the limits are and none make sound. Is there something I am doing wrong? On my Axiom pro Midi keyboard with the linn set to channel 1 I can hit the keys and it triggers the Linn sounds so I know the MIDI input does work correctly. I tried in Cubase and had the exact same results midi in is fine midi out doesnt play, but still the keyboard can play the linn. Any help would be hugely appreciated. thanks, Chris
nzSkitzo
Has anyone setup a DMX with midi in Logic? I think it would be a similar procedure?
