| I am running Logic Pro 7 on a Mac Book Pro and recently needed to export audio to a QT movie I had created in Keynote. I used the "Export audio to video" command and it appeared everything was fine until I played the resulting file in QT and NO AUDIO! I was finally (after fighting with Logic for TWO DAYS!!) able to import the movie and separate audio track into iMovie and put them together there, but what a drag to have to go to all those extra steps to create custom audio! I have been to THREE Mac stores (inculding the massive Chicago store) and talked to the "geniuses" and the "creatives" and not one of them could figure out why this wasn't working or told me the feature isn't working on Intel based Macs. I saw in another forum that this feature is broken on Intel Macs. Does anyone know about this and if Apple plans to fix it? |

It is BROKEN. I am a professional composer. I have bitched and bitched and bitched. When I first got my MBP I called the phone line. They told me it would be $100.00 or something to talk to a logic pro. So I call my store and a "genius" told me that it was working fine over the phone. I went down to ask him what he was doing and he basicly did every thing short of tell me he lied to me.
Now I have to make a wav, open Final Cut, drag in the video and the new soundtrack, then render it. PAIN IN THE F'in ASS. If I am doing a longform score I can't even think about doing it on my intel MAC. Only on my PPC because it takes too long.
I figured they would fix it in Logic 8, which I assumed (Stupid Me) might be announced at NAMM. Not even a peep. So to apple, FIX THIS PROBLEM |

Not working here either on an intel 2.66 / OSX 10.4.7 / Logic Pro 7.2.3. The same thing happens, I go through the motions, and a Quicktime movie of my cycle length is created - with no audio. Oddly, Logic *does* bounce - but where does it put that information? Weird. This worked on my G5.

Yes, that's just broken on Intel.

There is a partial workaround though... considering that the trimmed video has been generated, go back into Logic and create a bounce of the same cycle length. Since the video and the sound are in the same place, you can quickly combine these in iMovie without doing any editing.
Now I'm hoping that Apple are aware of this bug, and working to address it. If they aren't - the feature shouldn't be there as an option. ________________________ Neil Parfitt

You can always bounce your audio to disk and load it and the video into Garageband and export it to video there. Make sure that you go to the GB preferences menu to set your quicktime preferences (frame rate etc).
As a professional composer I'm horrified that this feature doesn't work. That's what I bought Logic for.

That single feature being temperarily "broken" wouldnt make or break a buying decision if I was buying Logic Pro for the 1st time. However - if Bounce didnt work.. hah.. if might be a different story

Frustrating! I really hope the next release of logic is just one big bughunt, and not 20 new FM synths. ________________________ www.michaelleemusic.net |

I keep hearing rumours of a full re-write from the ground up.. but who knows.
Yes, frankly - I couldn't care less if they add *anything* more.. but I would pay good money to see every one of these stupid lingering bugs get fixed. Logic is just turning into a pig in the last few years.. size, resource usage, stability.. it's all getting worse, and it's no wonder a lot of composers are jumping ship to alternate sequencers. ________________________ Neil Parfitt

Is there any news as to whether or not the "export audio to movie" function has been fixed for macintel yet? As of now, I'm running 7.2.3 and still having to export out to iMovie... Please tell me apple has said something...

It isn't fixed, and Apple hasn't said anything.

Excellent.... So glad to know Apple's working hard to fix major problems with it's software. Sigh. And I really love my Apple stuff, too...
Thanks, David. ________________________ Steven J. Kukla

Over 5 months this SERIOUS bug has been posted and no update from Apple.

Hello crespowu
I have just tried in Logic 8.01 on a MacPro - and the Audio export to movie works fine for me.
I don't think Apple ever updated 7 to make this work. ________________________ Tyrone Howe - Apple Certified Pro, Logic Pro 8, Level 1
