  1. Wowowow, when the Link button is purple for Same Level, it shows the full part just as you said, thanks so much!! For some reason though, when switching between Screensets, the Link button defaults to yellow for Content. Any insights? Thanks again!!
  2. Wow, thank you both! Reading about Link mode, I see my Link mode was off. Was this the reason why I was able to edit the score and not affect the underlying MIDI performance? If so, I think I need to be careful about changing it to Same Level, as my MIDI and score are quantized differently. Or does Link mode only affect the zoom/appearance? You're correct that it's not a bug; my system is updated and I am new at Score Sets so must be user error. I am going to watch this video and follow along again: Thanks again!
  3. Thanks for your reply! I had watched a video on Score Sets and followed the instructions carefully but it did not work. I just tried your very clear and simple instructions, yet all I see after doing "Create Score Set from Selection" is one of the region's score. This leads me to believe there is a bug in my system. I'll try updating, etc. Thank you again! I'll keep you posted.
  4. Hello, I am working on a part that will eventually need to be printed as sheet music. I've found the separate quantization of MIDI and score to be remarkable! However when attempting to join regions with different score quantizations, I've found that one subsumes the others-- that is, any given region can only have one score quantization value. I wouldn't mind keeping the regions separate, but even if I select all regions, they will not print as a complete part as when it is a single region. Does anyone know a workaround? Thanks in advance!
  5. Thank you all for your help; I'm sorry to be exasperating. After testing on multiple computers, speakers, and headphones, I decided to release as-is. (This is my usual practice by the way, not my first release. I wish I could play the versions for you so you can see I'm not crazy.) If you care to hear the end result, PM and I'll shoot you a link!
  6. Yes, I tried both QuickTime and Quick Look. You see why I'm at my wits end! A further wrinkle- I just tried the same headphones (DT 880s) plugged into the headphone jack of my Mac mini with the Sound output set to External headphones. The file sounds like the good version, no matter where I play it back- in the DAW, Quick Time, Quick Look, and Apple Music. I swear I'm not going crazy though it certainly feels like it...
  7. File > New. I don't have any templates I use. Then when it prompts me I choose one audio track, screenshot below
  8. Yes, all are running through my Apollo Twin X, I screenshotted above to verify I wasn't missing anything. Testing on same headphones and speakers.
  9. Hi David, thanks for your quick reply. When I play it from QuickTime or QuickLook it is the worse version. When I open a new, empty Logic project it is the good version.
  10. Thanks for your reply and for the clarification on system audio, I did not realize that! All sound output goes through my audio interface, please see attached screenshot. Thanks again!
  11. I know this is a sticky subject from the searching I've already done for a solution. I'm sorry to bring it up again but I'm at my wits end. When I Bounce > Project or Section... the resulting file sounds noticeably different outside of the DAW on both studio headphones and monitors. The stereo image is less wide, the sound seems to be louder in the center, and the longer reverb trails are absent. When I drag the bounced file back into Logic, it sounds correct and passes the null test. I figured this was an Apple Music or Finder playback problem, but when I uploaded to Bandcamp to test, it sounds like the worse version (even though it passed the null test in the DAW...) It is a single track with one bus to an aux track that has a single instance of Space Designer. I also tried bouncing in place first because of the nonlinear reverb. Bounce settings: Wave, Offline, Normalize Off, 24 bit, 44100, Interleaved, tried with and without dithering. Any help you can offer will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!
  12. Thank you all for your replies! I can move ahead with some confidence now, knowing it has worked for you.
  13. You're so right. It's really difficult to wade through the polemics when you don't have a firm grasp on the underlying technology like me. The reason I want to move the sound library is to free up storage on my 251GB hard drive. The sound library and my current Logic projects currently take up 75GB, and I've only had it a month. I didn't realize that OS updates would take up so much room. They already want me to download a 3GB update, and it seems these will add up real quick and before I know it I'll be pushing the unupgradeable internal storage to capacity. I want to set up a system early so that I'm not constantly fearful of filling up the drive- the entire point is to make as much music as possible. I figured if I got a 1TB SSD and used it for the 65GB sound library and my hopefully growing number of Logic projects, I would have plenty of space, not "overwork" the internal drive (somebody said reading and writing to a drive simultaneously wears it out twice as fast-- is that horse collar?), and feel safe with everything backed up by BackBlaze cloud storage. Am I totally wrongheaded here? Your advice is much appreciated!
  14. Good to know. I also contacted Google One to ask if I could connect Google Drive to an external drive (to use it as cloud backup of my files). The answer was a firm "No," but there are people with workarounds on reddit, etc. I just received this follow-up email from Google One support: "Backup & Sync have 2 ways to sync (My Drive and My Computer). My Drive can connect directly to sync between 2 PC or more. But, My Computer cannot connect directly to sync between different PC because it is created for each PC. If you want to sync the external HDD it needs to be connected to your PC." I mean, of course the external drive would be connected to the computer. I'm a noob, but sheesh. XD XD My takeaway is there are "official" responses from Apple, Google, etc. but people better at computers than I am have figured out perfectly workable solutions.
  15. Just got a new Mac mini. Been searching the various forums for advice and the general consensus is it's good to have the sound library on an external drive. My question: can I have all of my Logic projects (which I always save as Folders) on the same external SSD drive as the sound library? I would be backing everything up with a cloud service like BackBlaze. Thanks for your input!
