  1. yes, that's right, a serial chain oh well, thanks for the response
  2. logic 10.8.1, macos ventura, mac mini 2018 i've created a mastering template that runs audio from an audio track into a chain of aux tracks. each aux track has it's own set of plugins in an effort to spread the cpu load across as many cores as possible, but when i open logic's cpu meter, i see that it's using one core to the max and a second core to 50%, even though i'm using one audio track and 5 aux tracks. adding more plugins causes system overloads. (many of the plugins are oversampling and are quite heavy on cpu). what's happening? i thought logic was supposed to process each track with it's own core? does this not apply to aux/bus tracks? thanks! simeon
  3. i'm trying to use the touchosc layout LogicPad on an android tablet, but i can't get logic to connect. logic 10.8 running under ventura on a 2018 mac mini. touchosc mk1 running on an honor 8 tablet with latest firmware. the touchosc bridge is the latest version. logic remote on an ipad works fine conecting to hexler's protokol app, i can get two-way communication happening between the tab and the mac my firewall settings are allowing incoming connections to logic if i open logic and then start touchosc, logic is supposed to recognise that there is a touchosc control surface attached to the mac and prompt me to connect, but it never does if i install the hexler control surface manually in logic, it doesn't work if i trash the logic cs plist file, it doesn't make a difference i have the correct settings in the osc setup page of touchosc - it recognises the host mac and fills in the ip address and send port number (7000) and i have to fill in the receive port number manually, so i've tried 8000 and 9000 anything else i can try? i've spoken to hexler and they're stumped. i think it must be a logic issue, as it works with protokol
  4. just to quickly follow up - i can confirm that installing new apple loops overwrites the symlink to the loops folder. you can "get info" on the folder and hit the "locked" checkbox and this stops logic overwriting the folder, but no new loops can be installed until you unlock it. that'll prevent it happening without you knowing, though.
  5. there's a good chance then, that it was just library content for me too
  6. hmm odd. i'm now on moterey and it seems to be fixed. i actually watched as new content was installed and the symlinks were unaffected
  7. i think it's a bug. symlinks can be created successfully and remain as long as logic doesn't overwrite them when installing new library content. i haven't installed any new content for a while, so i don't know if this has been fixed in 10.7.6
  8. problem is, i kinda already tried this but using "relocate library" to move everything to a different external drive. logic created new symlinks in the process...i watched it happening. i'm wondering if it's a bug, but i haven't seen other reports of this happening while looking online for a solution. i suppose what you suggest is probably the next thing i should try.
  9. hi there. i recently upgraded my machine to monterey and logic to version 10.7.4. i had symlinks made for the logic and garageband folders in the application support folder, which pointed to an external hard drive. i also had one for the apple loops folder. they all broke after the installation, so i remade them, but they wouldn't stick - every time i installed any missing content, they were overwritten. i then attempted to use the "relocate library" option in logic itself, which seemed to work, as it created new symlinks in the process. unfortunately, they don't stick either. they're overwritten by installing any new content. is there anything i can do to solve this? edit: i should have said, i'm creating the symlinks in terminal using "sudo ln -s" when i get info on the symlink folders, they are described as an "alias", which is odd many thanks sim
  10. logic 10.5 ok so i open the plugin in slot 2 on track 1 and hit the link (i've selected multi). i have the same plugins loaded on every channel, including a track stack i have with my drums on. as i move across the mixer, everything behaves as it should. plugin 2 is displayed for each track i alight on. except when i get to the track stack. now it shows it me the plugin in slot 3. if i close plugin 3 and open plugin 2, it works normally across the track stack, but now doesn't work on the regular tracks. is this a bug?? sim
  11. yeah, this was my suspicion. i'm a bit disappointed in the midi fighter's lack of ability to alter it's outgoing cc messages. for an otherwise superb controller, this seems like a bit of an oversight.
  12. this might be a bit niche and i haven't been able to find any discussion about it at all, so i'm hoping the logic hive mind might be able to help i'm using a midi fighter twister to control an ssl native channel strip i've assigned all the knobs and buttons and everything works as it should but... some of the ssl knobs kinda work in reverse (turn the physical knob clockwise and the ssl knob turns anti clockwise) and i can't change the cc values the twister knobs send out no probs - just set the "multiply" parameter to -1.00 and the physical knob and the virtual knob now turn in the same direction! but... all the knobs that have multiply set to -1.00 (about 4 of them) don't seem to receive any midi feedback. as you move across the channels, all the other knobs and buttons change to reflect the state of the plugin on those channels, but those 4 knobs stubbornly refuse to change values. i have tried almost every combination of values in that bottom right panel in the controller assignments window and nothing works has anyone got any idea about why it's not working and how i might fix it? i don't really want to use a midi translator to reverse the knob values if i can help it. cheers! logic 10.5.1 running on mojave 10.14.6
  13. i figured out how to do it with my midi fighter twister learn the control and then select global > horizontal zoom then change the min and max values to 0 and 127 works the same as cmd+arrow keys one division at a time, but you can zoom in and out with the same knob smoother to use alt + two finger swipe on the trackpad if you have one
