  1. Also, if you use the environment mixer as I do, its not there. First you need to go to Logics main mixer or a channelstrip on the main page which shows the output strip, and activate it there, then it shows up.
  2. Not sure about the cycle mode etc you describe. When I get on my Mac I'll try Both Worlds. How much RAM do you have and your processor? I have my NI libraries (K14 UCE) pulling off a T7 from a thunderbolt port on my Mac. Not sure of the specs of your 2017 and where you have yours patched. That to say this. Its a well known fact the Light series can be very resource hungry, even on a respectable machine. Straylight indeed can peak a core no trouble at all on some of the presets. Get Logics little standalone meter up where you can see whats going on. I wouldn't navigate Straylight without it. Some presets, all I can get is 2 simultaneous notes (sustained) tops where a core will peak. Many, however do not and you can get full cords. Also it can depend what else you have going on in your project, but even if Straylight is the only thing playing, a heavy preset can still peak a core. There's ways around it like freezing, finding a preset thats not so demanding, even tweaking some of the parameters within the preset, or dare I say it upgrading your system if thats going to be important to you.
  3. Yes, I thought the same. As you say you can move on a bit later and its ALWAYS easier to go ahead than go back especially on MAC OS, which would constitute a clean install. All the best for Ventura if you do go that way.
  4. Hi there, I very recently faced a similar situation, though Im on intel. I guess it comes down to how much you're keen to get going on the latest Logic which requires at least Ventura. I decided to skip going directly to Sonoma because of known graphics issues, but that seems to be an intel thing. Ventura got a real bad rap when it was first released and I wasn't keen to bite the bullet. I was really pleased with Monterey, but now Im finding Ventura pretty good as well. A lot of people hated the new Preference area. In fact I really like it, so, so far Ventura is not too bad. If it was me on AS, Id still go Ventura first, but thats just me. Also very wise to consider compatibilty if you dont want to be a beta tester.
  5. So I just tried it and thats definitely a reasonable workaround. Thanks @Atlas007
  6. That may be your problem right there. Exactly how much free space are you talking about and is that HDD or SSD? For that latter especially, the general advise is that you dont want to run out of free space, though people recommend different amounts. I personally don't want to risk anything in this area so I go with at least approx 25% free. Id get some free space ASAP on that drive if its full or near to it.
  7. Thanks @Atlas007 - I was hoping to avoid the extra step of having to do a screen capture. I'll wait for a bit and see if anyone else has a suggestion. If not I'll mark yours as the solution.
  8. Hello, I've got a nifty little utility on my windows machine that grabs text off menus and most other areas you cant normally copy from. Does anyone know of anything for the Mac that can do this or even any MAC OS tricks that might do this. I can copy and paste text from some areas in Logic like the Notepad and Event list. Id like to be able to copy all the text (simultaneously) from track headers and all the entries in the Audio Window.
  9. Agree about the T7. Just remember its in ExFat format which you definitely dont want using Logic. Reformat it to APFS. I have 2 T7s and 2 T5s and so far they've been great, although Ive only recently added a second T7.
  10. You should be able to install 10.7.9. Thats the last version for Monterey and thats what Im on. The App store can be finicky sometimes. You might have to look a bit closer at the options when you log in. Not at my Mac atm so cant give specifics.
  11. Im on an intel iMac (see sig) and Monterey is running pretty good here. Apart from a few sundry glitches and quirks which you always get anyway, its pretty rock solid. Possibly the best OS I've had so far on this Mac and definitely not slower. It seems quite common, people want to skip Ventura, as according to some, its not been a good experience. Im keen to look at Logic 10.8 BUT Im not willing to risk it with the graphics issues people are up against. I also have to consider compatibility (K14 UCE). I prefer to wait and would much rather a stable system.
  12. On opening old projects, people differ on this one but my experience has been pretty good and Apple, the last time I looked, offically says you can open from Logic5 and up. I can open Logic 6 and Logic 8 files on 10.7.9 - Ive just recently converted my old projects, but as a little bit of added safety I do it to L10.6.3 first. You do get a dialog box telling you some automation has converted but it gives you plenty of options to cover your bases. You can Save As and retain your orignal copy.
  13. Thanks for that tip loukash. So I doubled down and listened carefully with headphones comparing Mixdown file with the untagged loops. Fortunately the speed and pitch was correct as long as logics transport was running. Got the job done, but I will make dang sure I dont have to do that again. Back in the day HDD drive space was a thing for many of us, and so you came up with work-arounds or compromises, which in the end can cause such issues as this. Something that happened that Ive never seen before is if I chose the wrong file, the regions in the Main Window showed all white. Bit weird. Another thing that is a real nightmare and theres a thread dedicated to it, is that logic tells you file lengths have changed - real nasty stuff. I've had a few of these in the conversion process, as well as a couple prior, since using Logic 10 - but in my case it was something that could be fixed every time because I was sloppy with naming files. ie LV#01 is not conducive to a good organized filesystem. Do a few of those and you could be in real trouble. I had the last or nearly the last top end Dual Processor G4, the only one (I think) that had a massive copper heatsink. Ran well with L6 but Im afraid I had to tread carefully with L8. I think I just scraped in on the required specs. It died around 5 years ago. I still have the "Superdrive" but I'd need an IDE >USB adapter to make use of it. I pulled the HDDs and put them in my Linux machine and wrangled my way to find a file I was desperate to find. I had the M-Audio delta 1010. Around the same time my G4 gave up, that went out in sympathy lol. A burned cap. Your post was the closest to a solution so thanks.
  14. I checked the length as samples and no deal, they're all the same and I can't compare with the files in the finder as they dont give me an option to see in sample length. All the file sizes in kbs for this library in Finder are different, but of course they're 0 kbs in Project Audio window. One thing I tried to narrow the field was check the length in beats/ bars by dragging into untagged loops and comparing that with the empty regions in Main WIndow and pulling those out to full length in case Id shortened them. Looks like its going to be trial and error. Trying each one that has the same length.
