  1. Another great reason is to future-proof access to your songs. So, if you need to re-open it in a few years, you don't have to worry about whether you still have all your software instruments installed, or if they are compatible with the latest OS, etc. With everything printed, you are working with audio only, and compatibility is no longer an issue. You can reopen it regardless of what OS you are using, what plug-ins have been updated or not; or heck, even which DAW you are using!

  3. Hi Luis, The Learn mode in the Step Sequencer is only designed for teaching it which note pitches you want to be used. As far as actually entering the notes within the pattern grid, it is, unfortunately, by mouse only. You are not the first person to suggest how great it would be to have a keyboard-type step entry method. But it's just not there yet, unfortunately.
  4. For those interested, here is a summary of the videos I have up on Logic 10.5. They are all free to view, except for the last link, which is a link to a five hour series covering all the new features in depth. What’s New In Logic Pro 10.5 New Features In Logic Pro 10.5 - Working With Live Loops Follow along as Logic’s new ability to capture recordings when in stop mode is put to work to grab some ideas in a moment of inspiration. Smart Tempo is used to capture and preserve the tempo of the performance. A few apple loops are added before everything is brought into some empty cells in a new Live Loops Grid. Here more ideas are captured, and scenes are created as more regions populate the Live Loops grid. Finally, different bits from different scenes are captured to Logic’s Tracks Area in real-time to audition arrangement variations using contents from the various cells. Sonic Inspiration With Powerful New Drum Machine Designer Workflows In Logic Pro 10.5 New loop slicing and output mapping are used to set up Drum Machine Designer pads from several disparate drum loops. Quick Sampler’s One-Shot mode, envelope, modulation matrix and filter controls, are used to create a topper loop. Logic’s new Step Sequencer is used to create a Pattern Region using the newly constructed kit. Create Interesting and Evolving Melodic Pattern Regions With Step Sequencer In Logic Pro 10.5 Follow along as an evolving bass line is set up using the various row based step attributes in Logic’s new Step Sequencer. Automation is added to enhance the evolving pattern being generated. The resulting Pattern Region is brought into the Live lops grid where further variations are created and auditioned in real time. Logic Pro 10.5 Is Here, And Apple Has Once Again Delivered A Ton Of New Features To Spark Our Creativity https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/logic-pro-expert/2020/5/12/logic-pro-105-is-here-and-apple-has-once-again-delivered-a-ton-of-new-features-to-spark-our-creativity See many of the new Logic Pro 10.5 features demonstrated, as a short arrangement is built up. A Drum kit pattern region and a bass pattern region are quickly created using the new Step Sequencer. Drag and drop is used to set up a new Quick Sampler instrument derived from an Apple Loop. Samples are then dropped into Sampler, Logic’s brand new update to the EXS 24. An instrument is created on the fly using the new dual filter and modulation mapping features. Next Live Loops is used to add extra elements to the rhythm section. Finally, a Live Loops is performance is captured to accompany a vocal in the Tracks Area. Logic Pro 10.5 Update Explained https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/Logic-10.5-Update-Explained Watch over five hours of in-depth tutorial videos covering all the new features.
  5. Sounds like you have your Drag Mode set to one of the Shuffle settings:
  6. Just seeing this thread now. FTR, I updated from High Sierra to Mojave about a month ago, right after I created that post on logic-pro-expert. So far I have had absolutely no problems. I now plan to safely wait out the next year until the post-Catalina OS update is within sight, and then update to Catalina. My philosophy is to stay about 9-10 month or so behind the latest update. Logic always seems to support one OS behind the current one. So I'm anticipating that when the next Logic update comes, post-Catalina, the minimum OS spec will likely be Mojave or later.
  7. Hi Studio ML, This is a bug _fix_; not a bug. It was a problem before that the output bus assignment was used as the summing stack input. Why was it a problem? Imagine a (typical) scenario where you have all the tracks in your project outputting to a bus instead of stereo output. Let’s say bus 64 for example. If you then selected a handful of tracks and created a summing stack, bus 64 would be used as the input to the track stack. This was a huge problem because that bus is already in use by the rest of the tracks in the project. So, in effect, your entire project would arrive at the input of the summing stack. This has been corrected in LPX 10.4.5 and later. Now a new unused bus is used as the input for the summing stack. Why is this a problem? When you create a summing stack, the important thing is that all the tracks contained within the stack output to the same bus being used as the stack master input. Why should it matter which actual bus number it is? The important thing is that it is unique, and not used by any other tracks in the project. This new behaviour guarantees that outcome.
  8. The new smart tempo multitrack sets have a feature whereby you can exclude specific tracks in the set from contributing to the tempo analysis. There seems to be a bug with this feature though. Unfortunately, it seems that it only writes the tempo info into the files that are included in the analysis and omits the files excluded from the analysis. The problem becomes apparent if/when you turn flex on. The files don’t all get flexed the same, and the timing is off. There is a simple workaround though. If you open up the multitrack set in the smart tempo editor and move one of the markers in the downmix file, it automatically updates all the members of the set with the correct tempo info. And then voila, flex works consistently on all the tracks in the set. I just added an additional video on this to the new groove3 LPX 10.4.2 Explained series today and asked groove3 to make it one of the free preview videos. It covers the workaround for this buggy scenario when using the new smart tempo multitrack sets and flex time together. You can check out the free preview video here: https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/Logic-Pro-X-10.4.2-Update-Explained or on youtube: PS: David - I'm not trying to self-promote here, I just want to share the workaround for this unfortunate bug....
  9. You can also use the Export active comp or move active comp functions to manage the situations you are describing.
  10. Have you tried rebuilding defaults?
  11. Thanks good to know. Here's another little part of the browsing experience that, unless i am missing something, they seem to have skimped on. When browsing using the categories and attributes to filter the preset results, we can command or shift click to include multiple attributes and see only presets that belong to all of the selected attributes. In other words it functions as an "and" type of boolean search function. But there seems to be no way to select multiple attributes and return search results using any kind of "Or" criteria. IOW, I can't see a way to search for patches that are in either or any of the selected attributes, only that are in all.
  12. Hi Eric, Thanks..... But wow; that's quite the omission!
  13. Does anyone know how to delete or remove a user rating after you've rated a preset?
