I know you guys talked about this a long time ago, but I am just starting to mess with MIDI and am frustrated by this related problem: If there is some MIDI on say the first two measures of a track, and I want to start recording MIDI at the third measure, I set the play head at the start of measure 3 and then hit record...And I'll put my foot on the piano pedal in preparation for playing, and that pedal press gets recorded in the measure, modifying the prior MIDI! Any workarounds?

I am trying to monitor my project for both timing (with the metronome) and max master level. It seemed that no matter what I did I was still clipping… But I finally figured out that my (loud) metronome was the culprit! I'm guessing there is some way to route everything EXCEPT the metronome to a monitor, and then watch that to figure out track levels? I'm pretty new to all this so I have not figured this out and could not find it in the forms… Thank you for any advice!
