Hi, Bit of a noob question, but whereas I can create a whole ton of stereo audio tracks and record all at once (by settings inputs to 1-2, 3-4, etc), I can only seem to find a single surround set of inputs in the preferences / settings section. So, is it correct that I cannot create, for example, 5 surround tracks (let's say QUAD tracks in this case), and record 5 different incoming QUAD streams at the same time? The only other way I can see to do this is to (1) create 4 mono tracks, (2) route them to a surround bus with appropriate LR LsRs panning, and (3) create a surround audio track whose input is not set to "surround", but rather to the bus to which the 4 mono tracks are routed. This can work, but it creates five tracks per audio stream (4 mono and one surround). Thanks 🙂

Hi all, So I was able to noodle with Logic a bit this evening, and I think I understand what is happening here. When I record, I most often use a 1-bar count-in. When I press record, the playhead jumps to the start of the previous bar regardless of where I am in the bar I currently am in; for example, if I have the play head on beat 2 of bar 2, then press record, the playhead will jump to beat 1 of bar 1. The same will happen regardless of where I have the playhead in Bar 2 before pressing record. So, I had made the assumption that when pressing record with a 1-bar count-in, then the resulting audio file (and corresponding region) would include all the time from the start of the count-in onwards. Logic does in fact record all the audio from the start of the count in onward, but the region that ends up displaying in the arrange window only starts from where the playhead was originally placed BEFORE pressing record. I have some screenshots to illustrate this. Here I start with the playhead at Bar 2, Beat 3.5 Then, I press record and capture a synth note from a soft synth. Here we can see that the resulting region has been automatically trimmed to where the playhead was originally set, even though there is audio recorded before this point (the MIDI note was triggered before the start of the displayed audio region). We can see in the list of audio files on the right that the region can be expanded to the left to uncover the recorded audio. Maybe this is expected behaviour for those that know more about Logic than I, but it was not what I was expecting to happen when recording. Up to this point I had been relatively lazy in where I placed the playhead prior to pressing record with the 1-bar count-in, which made it seem that the recording was trimming to a point in the waveform but really it was only starting the region where I originally had the play head (and I had to expand the region outward afterward).

Hi, General Q which I'm sure is a simple fix but I can't seem to see it. When I record audio to an audio track in Logic Pro X (10.3.3), and then stop the recording, the new audio region is automatically being trimmed to the start of the waveform, rather than leaving the region as a full-length representation of the audio file. I can drag the region's start point to be full length after recording, but would prefer that Logic just leave the region alone and not do any auto trimming after recording has stopped. In this scenario, I'm not using the cycle range or anything else to section off a certain part of the project for recording; I am just free recording with a 1-bar count-in by pressing "R" on the keyboard. Any thoughts on how one might turn off this auto-trim function? Additionally, is there a shortcut or menu option to "expand region to full length" rather than manually dragging the start and end points outward?
