  1. This might be a little unusual but I have a group of tracks which I'd like to be able to transpose together easily. Unfortunately you can't add a midi effect to a group/track stack, so it seems I would have to have the transposer effect on each individual track, where I have to manually adjust each one at a time. Of course I can select individual regions and transpose them all together that way, but I do not wish to do this for reasons of view inside the score editor (I wish the notes to remain the same in the score, just hear them sounding transposed up or down). I am guessing it's not possible but figured I would ask...
  2. I believe I understand what @T0nt0 is after, as it was something I wanted myself after switching over to Logic from Pro Tools. You see, rather than having two separate "play" buttons, you can just keep the same master play button (space bar), and quickly toggle its behavior without having to fuss with alternate play buttons and remembering where they are. It would be nice if Apple could add access to this toggle within the key commands, but currently it doesn't exist. However, @T0nt0 not sure if you read my post above from awhile back, if you have Keyboard Maestro you can set this up. That's what I did. This is what it looks like: Basically what happens is I hit any one of those key commands above (cmd+F1 or F14 is what I set up), and because Keyboard Maestro can access menu items instantly (which Logic does not offer in the key command editor), it selects this toggle for me. With a flick of that switch my space bar behavior toggles between Play from Current, and Play from Last Locate Position. Otherwise there isn't a native way to do this. Hope that helps.
  3. I can't figure out why this one track (outlined in green) doesn't have an available freeze button. Other tracks above and below it do (freeze is selected under 'track header components')– also I'm aware my screengrab happens to be a software track with audio tracks immediately adjacent, but in fact elsewhere I have similar software instrument tracks where the freeze button is available. Anyway this is just a plain instance of Battery, and no effects, nothing really special under the hood, no sends or anything. Am I missing something?
  4. I think this is something similar to PT's "spot mode" but I'm not sure. Basically I'm working on scoring a film and for one cue the editor informed me that they extended a shot which means I have to move all my regions down at certain point - 01:12 (1 second 12 frames) to be exact. Is there any kind of mode or pop-up dialog box where I can move selected regions by timecode entry? Otherwise I guess I could set my nudge to frames and nudge everything umm, 36 times (they are using 24fps). But not only will that be tedious, but prone to human error, and would seem kind of ridiculous if you had to nudge by a lot more than that. Hoping there's a way to be more precise about it. Thanks!
  5. I always prefer doing fresh installs of everything system-wide, not only most up-to-date but also it's a great opportunity to do some house-keeping and not install anything I never use or is super old and wonky. Yes, quite tedious, but worth the time it takes to start with a fresh foundation than trying to paint over an a dilapidated foundation 😉 Glad it worked out for you!
  6. Yikes, that's a little scary in a big project! Aux tracks in particular, where it's just acting as a send/return, does it appear to delete those too? Or do you think it only deletes those when nothing is connected to it? I'd hate to delete reverb sends just because it doesn't have a region on it.
  7. I tried searching for clarity on this popup but couldn't find anything specific. Basically my question is what kind of tracks it is referring to with regards to automation data? Just standard audio/inst tracks? Because I would not like to delete VCA tracks, aux tracks, or subgroup tracks, all of which might be "empty" but have automation data on them such as volume. Only looking to delete regular unused audio or instrument tracks. Thanks!
  8. Strange, this wasn't working for me on 10.7.9 yesterday, and now today it is! Something buggy is afoot haha. Glad I am able to get it working, as I use this feature regularly.
  9. Hi David, just found this thread because this was driving me crazy. Unfortunately this solution is not working for me. I also tried variables like holding option before, or after clicking, but neither are working. I'm on the newest version 10.7.9. Also does anyone have any idea why they would have changed this? Seems like an unnecessary tweak to something which was intuitive before.
  10. Oh I understood what you meant by automagically, I just didn't think it's a totally absurd notion from fantasy land haha. Understood why it's not feasible, but I think it's a realistic request and need from the point of view of an end-user. Some plugins did translate over find to their newer versions no problem. Is that because the developer coded it to handle backwards compatibility? (In other words, nothing to do with the DAW itself?) As for the plugins which are not working, it may not be due to silicon, but some are rejected by Logic and my other DAWs, and I am taking that means they are unsupported for whatever reason which is beyond me. Sadly, my MacPro 2013 tower died in the middle of the project and is completely unsalvageable. Everything was backed up so no issues there, it's just that I can't conveniently check on an older system. Oh well, it is what it is!
  11. Not sure what you mean by "automagical" - with regards to the fact you can relink pretty much anything else in an old project, it doesn't sound like a wild or magical fantasy idea. Seems actually quite realistic, just hasn't been developed. Thanks for the insight about plugin IDs, I didn't realize that is how it works. Unfortunately for several of these installing the old version will not work - literally, some of them are entirely unsupported in Apple Silicon (I tried). Oh well, I'll just have to do my best to explain this to my client. Thanks for taking your time to explain my solutions!
  12. I'm having to revisit some older project files and having an issue where it thinks certain plugins are missing. The version it is expecting is missing, however, the newer versions are now installed. For example: All of these plugins I have installed, but this is a newer machine and therefore newer versions. I realize it's probably looking for the exact names - for example for FF Pro-L and Pro-Q, I now I have the v3 plugins, and same for ShaperBox, it's v3. The others actually have the same names, but they are still newer / silicon supported versions. The reason I don't want to just remove the plugins and add a new one is I will lose any settings I had created inside these plugins, as well as automation will break. Is there any way to manually point Logic to these new plugin versions, for example when it's expecting "FF Pro-Q 2" to tell it to now look at "FF Pro-Q 3" instead? Otherwise is there any other workaround to this? I'm working with a client who is very sensitive to any changes being made so I'm trying to get things up and running exactly as they were. Thank you!
  13. Interesting. Yeah I noticed it on another Apollo I used to own (Twin Duo); and a totally different system (Mac Pro 2013). But as mentioned even with the Apollo disconnected, and Logic audio routed to the internal mac soundcard/speakers (which is still set to 48K in AMS), it still does this brief little change and then back. Maybe a screen recording would make the most sense to illustrate what happens on my end. Notice how my project is set for 48K, and then it opens as 44.1K, gives me a spinning wheel for a couple of seconds, and then goes back to 48K once it loads a new track window. The reason I figured it must be universal is the fact I've had it happen on totally different and unrelated setups. Does this not happen on your end? Would love to hear if anyone else sees this. I feel like I am sounding crazy by now. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oyN1vHhsa3eDwMzldcRVkdF7COzCenGZ/view?usp=sharing (Also unrelated I can never figure out how people on here do sharp screen recordings and upload them - I am using QuickTime player to screen record and even after making way smaller, I have to compress them so hard and even then it won't let me upload because the max is 1.95MB. @David Nahmani do you have any advice for screen recordings on this forum? I see others do it all the time and they look so crisp, attached right in the forum!)
  14. Sure thing, these are all my different devices, though I would re-iterate I have seen this Logic behavior on other systems, other devices, other versions of OS and Logic, and with the internal Mac sound card, so I'm not sure how helpful seeing the AMS setup is (since they don't really say anything I didn't show above)... I would love to hear confirmation from other users if they have seen this before. Like I said it may be more apparent for anyone with UA since it makes a clicking noise when switching the clock back and forth.
