  1. Enverb! who'd've thought it? Thanks David, I feel a little stupid that I didnt think to do that myself. Especially after complaining about all the dumb time-waster posts Took less than 5 minutes to find the root of the problem: enverb on a send. Never seen that happen before. will now go back to the original project and bounce just that track to audio (as opposed to bouncing ALL the tracks to audio, which would be tedious). thanks a lot.
  2. though even the most die-hard optimists must face up to reality at some point.
  3. yeah, been working on both older and more recently created projects in the meantime and havent come across any problems (touch wood...). perhaps I just did soemthing stupid somewhere and tracing my steps back would reverse it (though anyway going back wouldnt really be practical just cos i'd noticed the problem quite a long time before i stopped working on the project, so going back would mean losign half of what ive done), but you might be right in that it could just be corrupt. as i said, i dont think ive never had this problem before, but it certainly wouldnt be the first corrupt project... surprised nobody seems to have experienced exactly this problem before though
  4. appreciated. no, i havent. but as it would be a lot of work, and i'm not entirely adverse to committing to my creative decisions every now and then anyway, i think i would sooner bounce everything to audio and drop it into a new project. in fact, this is precisely what i'll do if no simpler solution is found in the next few days...though i'd ideally like to avoid having to do this if possible, just cos it uses up a lot of disk space.
  5. yeah, u did right to edit your post. i wasnt even going to respond to it as it was before, but as uve toned it down... its unfortunate u took offence at the 48hr comment, but youve read something into it that i did not intend it to communicate. it was an observation, no more no less: i havent been on this forum for a while, i used to recommend it to everyone with the words "incredibly helpful, never had to wait more than 48hrs before someone would come up with a solution to whatever problem i had". now i come back and notice there are a lot of stupid posts, made buy ppl who havent bothered using the search function, or asking to "recreate this preset" for which i think there are plenty of other, more suitable, forums on the internet. i also noticed that several of the more knowledgeable and helpful ppl i remember being active on here are not posting anymore (at least, not this week). i couldnt help wondering if these things are not related. its still a great forum. and i think if you re-read this thread more carefully you'll notice that ive been very appreciative of the ppl who have given their time to try and help me so far. in short, i really dont understand why you would be so "pissed off" about anything i'd written. I mean, do you actually disagree with me when i say that there are now more stupid posts than before? you are of course free to disagree with me, but getting all patronising and pushing some personal gripe about greedy and selfish internet users wanting everything free and right now is inappropriate, not least of all becauase A) I wasnt throwing a tantrum, and B) because i entirely agree with you about this. i think youve mistaken me for someone else and btw, the issue with recording audio to your hard-drive is not about latency problems but about actually causing damage to your internal drive. ive no idea what SATA means, so perhaps this is soemthign new that has rectified that problem, but i know that in the past recording to your internal drive was very much considered a no-no. pretty certain i learned that on here actually. as I also learned not to use USB for an external drive... anyway, back on topic: why is no fucker responding to my thread???!!!! you useless idiots owe it to me to solve all my problems immediately! And send me your money too while you're at it!!!!! this forum sucks the horse's dick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. not quite sure how to respond to that tbh. i was purely making an observation, and i'm fully aware no one is obliged to help if they dont want to, including yourself. but if you feel the need to make unnecessary patronising comments with your suggestions then i'd prefer to wait for someone else's assistance, thanks.
  7. no, duet is on firewire 400 port, external drive on the 800. aside from that, ive been using the exact same set up for several years, on literally hundreds of projects, without ever having encountered this problem before. and all other projects ive tried recently still play without this delay. so i think its reasonable to assume that the problem is something specific to this one project and therefore i dont think its likely to be a problem with the duet or any other external hardware. really appreciate your suggestions though. i havent had any problems with my set up for a year or two now, but this is the first time ive ever had to wait longer than 48 hrs for someone on this forum to come up with a solution to a problem...i get the feeling that the recent mainstream success of apple, and therefore logic, has perhaps resulted in an inundation of noobs swamping the boards with very basic questions and therefore posts are now somewhat lost in the madness.
  8. firewire 800. but anyway, recording audio direct to your internal hard drive would be a much worse idea than USB from what i understand...
  9. another good suggestion (and one which hadnt occurred to me), but no, from an external, with over 400 GB left thanks once again...
