  1. Yep I was- BTW your post made me re-visit the Library pane in the inspector, and I found the refresh library function there. Did that, but the folders that are missing from within sampler are still missing there. Also- on my rig, when I add a sampler instrument with open library selected and then enter anything in the search field at the top in the inspector, it crashes Logic.
  2. I have my Sampler library on a remote drive with aliases in Library/Application support/Logic/Sampler instruments and Samples folders. Recently searches from the load menu in Sampler show some Instruments greyed out. Also some folders on my Sample drive are missing from the list of folders that shows up in these searches. Searching in the finder reveals all the greyed out/missing folders to be where they are supposed to be. Also, some of the files that are greyed out are in my project template, and load properly from there. I re-indexed the sample drive with Spotlight recently and that didn't seem to solve the problem. Also have tried making new aliases, and placed them in both locations where Sampler Instruments and Samples belong on my root drive to no avail. Re-re-indexing now. Any thoughts?
  3. And of course today I lowered the audio buffer down to 64 do play a MIDI part in and Logic began to recycle itself as described above. Frustrating, cuz it seems like lowering the buffer isn't the cause, but rather a stressor on the cpu that causes the recycle thing to happen. Running it back up at 512 made the problem go away- at least in the near term.
  4. Updating here- for no reason that I can tell, Logic has not been doing the random restart thing for about a week now. One thing to note- I have not rebooted the computer during this time, contrary to my usual routine of shutting down and rebooting in the morning. Also in this period I have not been using the cycle region to define the area where I am writing, but rather using the play button option to start from the last locate position. Does this make any difference? Who knows. But thought it might be useful as we fool around and try to figure out what is going on.
  5. According to Apple the M1s now do smc and NVram reset as a part of booting up.
  6. well- I <think> so.. Got a lot of work right now so it is hard to leave it unplugged on an ongoing basis. I can say just unplugging it doesn't make the problem go away- I have to cold boot and start logic and then plug it back in. AFter doing that the last time I also repatched the USB cable coming from the keyboard direct to the Mac in order to take a hub out of the picture. Since then (a few hours back) -peace in the valley. If the problem recurs I'm also going to swap out the USB cable. No reason to suspect it except It has been in use with my controller forever and sometimes those things can bite you in the hiney. Troubleshooting. Slow and tedious. And thanks des99 for the link. The monitor is running now.
  7. Good idea - you mean in the environment?
  8. Update- Continuing to wrestle with this problem. the whole unplug controller/cold reboot/launch LP/reconnect controller will mostly cause the problem to go away for a while, but it reoccurs after varying amounts of time. although seldom less frequently than 8-9 hours which is my normal working day. As Fisher King suggested based on his experience with Lumi, I think it may have something to do with my controller (Komplete Kontrol S61) Some kind of start command that restarts playback? I don't see anything in the MIDI monitor that suggests that is happening tho. In my case it will happen whether or not Cycle is on. And will happen with many different play/stop options selected. I do have two other controllers connected- A Hydrasynth. which has no transport control functionality, and a Keystep 37, which does. With those remaining connected and the S61 off the problem does not seem to occur. I did file a bug report with Apple and got a response. Sent them a project where the problem was occurring and a crash report and some further info. Hope those of us that are having this issue can keep experimenting in hopes of finding a work around.
  9. Well Dayum... thank you Sensei! I had tried unplugging my controller (Komplete Kontrol.) But didn't restart Logic afterwards. So did the whole prophylaxis- unplug controller, quit Logic, cold boot, Open Logic, re attach controller. And so far so good. I have another little Arturia I use for key commands and arpeggios hooked up as well, but didn't unplug that. Anyhow- Thanks for the fix!👌
  10. Having this problem as described by OP as well on both my Old Mac Pro and new Mac Studio M1 Ultra. Logic 10.7.7 / UAD Apollo 8 /Monterey 12.6.3. When Cycle mode is on Logic will randomly restart play at the beginning of the cycle. Have tried many forms of trouble shooting and am unable to find a workaround or make it repeatable. It does seem to happen after making an edit of some kind in the project, although it doesn't seem to matter if it is a MIDI edit, and automation move, or and audio edit. In my workflow there are typically a lot of instrument plugins, but as others have observed it can also happen in very simple projects. Playback error - SD 480p.mov
  11. Thanks- all pretty basic projects- no immersive audio or anything of the sort. I'll post up here if anything gets weird:)
  12. My 2015 MBP won't do 10.7.4 and I need to work remotely on some projects made in 10.7.4 on my newer rig. I get a warning when I open the file into 10.6.3 to upgrade LP. Am I going to regret trying to work in the older version? Crashes from hell? Thanks for any insight.
  13. And thanks Atlas007- I thought I tried everything every whichway yesterday, with no results, but today I'm getting exactly what you describe- no visual changes, but the sound is changing. Maybe the fact that I had disconnected the Keystep earlier for something else has something to do with it? The old- "did you try rebooting" thing... Anyhow thanks for your response- you're always a great resource. Looks like 10,200 times or so:)
  14. Thanks des99 Hmm. I must be confused.. is there another version of the Sampler instrument in the GUI? The screen grab in my post is the only graphical representation of the Sampler that I know about. and it def doesn't learn in the usual way- IE clicking on a value or control knob and sending a cc message. Inquiring minds etc..
