  1. Thanks. I'll try Migration Assistant. Last machine update, MA didn't do a great job but TM hadno issues. I did use Carbon Copy on my MBP2016 to the M1, which did install on the M1 and I updated to Monterey. But, I'll give MA a shot. I have way too many plugins to install, plus digging up codes I printed out and reauthorizing thrm. People complain about iLok but it makes migration significantly easier. Thanks again.
  2. Tomorrow's my 57th birthday so I'm going to ruin it by migrating my current MBP (Late 2016-Taakbar) running Mojave and Logic 10.4.6(?) (Using 32Lives for some 32 bit plugins that I will now relegate to the dustbin of arbitrary hardware limitations. I have used Carbon Copy to Clone the 2TB SSD in the MBP after upgrading as many apps and plugins as possible. For some reason, Time Machine stopped backingup my MAC HD months ago despite buying new external drives - kept stopping about 33%. So, what is the best method. The new M1 SSD is 4TB so I'm pretty sure I can't just use CC to clone the 2TB drive because I assume it will create a 2TB partition and then have an unpartitiined 2TB. Should I use migration assistant to take the data from the Mojave clone to the M1 SSD as opposed to cloning the old MBP SSD? Should I try Time Machine again, then install the old MBP MOJAVE on the new M1 then update OSX to Monterey? Also, I have zipped Logic 10.4 and 10.5.1, but Apple Store doesn't show the 10.7.2 update download. Please point me to the thread to download 10.7.2. I looked but way too many threads to rummage through to find the trick. I know after doing this upgrade crap for 20 years, it's going to be a total cluster crap troubleshooting every non-working plugin, waiting for native versions, R2 not working, losing some 32 bit plugins (which I guess I can access via the old MBP and freeze anything and then transfer. Of course, I had my iLok, Waves Thumbdrive, Korg dongle, and IK ST4 Thumbdrive on a 4 USBa hub that has hit giving me trouble in 4 years. Out of nowhere, all 4 dongles are not recognized on any computer (MBP, iMac, Win, iPad), whether direct into a USBa slot, a Thunderbolt input (using the converter dongle, or plugged into a Thundernolt hub. None of these thumbdrives show the drives receiving power (blue iLok light flickering). All other external HDs, SD cards, flash and thumb all work. Any ideas? Luckily I have ZDT for the iLok and I believe I can just put Waves on a new drive. The IK Sampletank drive is backed up multiple times, I just have no idea what is on the Korg dongle and what else was kept in the Waves Thumbdrive. Any and all advice and avoiding landmines is greatly appreciated.
  3. Thanks. I contacted iLok and they are sending me a new iLok with replacement codes. No idea what I put on the Waves drive or Korg but I guess I'll find out eventually when a plug-in doesn't work. The IK drive is backed up (250 GB) with asampletank 3 and 4 files. So that is replaceable. First time I had 4 drives fail. Usually it is just 1 every 6 months or so (for no reason).
  4. The problem is that all 4 USB-A Thumbdrives do not show up on any Mac computer - MBP 13, MBP 17, MBP M1, iMac 2015, Windowa Machine. I tried running each separately with the USB-A to TB, ThunderHub, AV to TB dongle, Disk Utility - no error message, no format error. The 4 port USB- hub and all others light up showing power is on. My iLok amd Waves Thumbdrives, plus a IL with SampleTank 3 and 4 files plus a Korg Thumbdrives, which I have no idea what is on it, appear dead. Any suggestions besides contacting iLok and use ZDT (which ‘thank the gods”), i purchased. Obi-won or Dave N, you are my only hope. Apple Genius Bar visit basically repeated all the troubleshooting I did and the secret room in the back said their computers also did not see the drives. Note - all computers do see external HDs and SSDs.
  5. I have 4 Thumbdrives (ilok, IK Multimedia, a USB for Waves, and a Korg dongle). These were attached to a USB-A to USB-C dongle to a Thundernolt hub into a MBP late 2016 running Mojave and Logic 10.4.6? Also, sometimes directly with an A to TB dongle. I bought a MBP Pro Max and was updating all plugins on my current MBP prior to migration. You know, that fun task that Apple enjoys torturing us with every year. Now, all 4 USB dongles are not showing up on the desktop (all sidebar and other preferences checked), NVRAM and SCM checked. Sys info shows nothing attached to thunderbolt ports. Tried USB-A to Thunderbolt adapter and same issue. ILok manager show the iLok greyed out. Genius Bar went thru the same troubleshooting process and the drives would not show up on their computer. I have ZDT but WTF??? Out of nowhere 4 USB thumbdrives transport to an alternate universe? I kave no idea what other plugins are on that Waves or Korg USB drives. Any suggestions? Also, is there a list of 32 Bit plugins that i will have to kiss goodbye when moving to Monterey and Logic 10.7.2?
  6. If you still have non-native plugins do you have to open Logic with Rosetta 2 or run Native and see which plugins don't work? I'm getting close to migrating to my new Mac and the "fun" of trouble-shooting, reloading, reauthorizing. My Late 2016 MBP with task bar is stable on Mojave and Logic 10.4.6 so I have that in the bullpen ready to relieve me when I give up in frustration.
  7. Purchased as a huge thanks to David and the rest of the Forum members.
  8. I’m holding on upgrading from Mojave because I do have an ARP Pro-soloist AU and a few ancient ones that 32 Lives resurrected. Is there a list of dead 32 bit AUs?
  9. Is there a current list of plugins that do not work in Catalina and Big Sur. I'm on Mojave and did have issues updating to Logic 10.5 so with tail between legs, moved back to 10.4. I tend to stay at least 1 OSX behind to avoid spending days getting my system to work.
  10. I thin I did both, zip and copy, then put on 70 backup drives that I have. For kicks, I plugged in my Cheese grater G5 Xenon Tower running Snow Leopard. Logic 9 started right up and started playing a track right where I left off in 2010 or so. Forgot about Powercore and my UAD1 card. In 10 years I migraged from owning vintage analog synths, samplers, rack digital synths, romplers, Hammond Organa, M400 Mellotrons, pianets, RMI, tube amps (with Pods and Axe-FX pre-Ultra), vintage and new stomps, rack gear to having the whole "home studio" literally in my MBP and an External Hard Drive. Still can't finish my second Ad Infinitum album that I started in 2000. Lots of fun improvising, noodling with every guitar amp sim, plugin instrument, and writing, but nothing finished, just in my head. Being a Trademark Lawyer, divorce (not caused by GAS), a son and two amazing step-daughters, have taken priority and time. Even when you know carpe diem at age 16, life's reality seizes it from you. And I didn't become a lawyer for the money (and I don't own any vintage guitars or go to jam sessions), I just knew the reality that I didn't have the talent as a player, writer, engineering, or perfect/relative pitch to make my true love (music) my career as opposed to my obsessive hobby. I have the utmost respect for those that took that "leap of faith" to dream the dream and make it reality. I guess I'm no Robert Frost but maybe I am since the path I chosen made all the difference in the world for me. At least I didn't become an accountant or politician.
  11. Yes, but OSX updates and Logic Updates never, ever were automatic. I only learn about Logic updates coming to this forum - which I greatly appreciate all the time Admins and members spend helping us fellow "illogical." Lesson learned, especially about zipping Logic in the App folder prior to updating. Now if "auto" was Latin, I would have understood.
  12. Auto update is checked but on my MBP it never updated without me hitting the update button.
  13. Without permission, Apple decided to update my 10.4.8 to 10.5. I never update to the next .x but 10.5.0 worked fine. But the update to 10.5.1 borked my system and Logic kept running avtools. Seems it might have been an issue with 32Lives - not sure. Luckily, I have another machine still on 10.4.8 and was able to zip that and migrate my MBP back to 10.4.8. Never knew you could back up the Logic app version. Saved me hours of frustration trying fix 10.5.1.
  14. On my MBP (late 2017) Logic 10.5.1 goes (well attempts to) through an AU scan, keeps asking about the Waves plugins I don't own and after 100 clicks of don't "scan for license" and a few other "trial" ilok plugins and a few MX4 that I never transferred to my ilok3) just stall and never opens up to the main screen. I use 32Lives and never had an issue and all 32 bit plugins are resurrected. II'm on Mojave. Any ideas? After using Loguc since Notator days, I have a lot of plugins (legit - usual suspects, UAD, Waves, Plugin Allisnce, Native Instruments, Arturia, etc.). Do I really have to trash the AU cache and go through AU validation again? If I have the last version of 10.4 on my other machine, is there a way to use that to downgrade my
