  1. THANX everyone. All the responses are helpful; temporarily moving the stand alones is a great idea.
  2. Is is safe to delete the stand alone versions of a 'virtual instrument' used by Logic Pro X? Question 2 -A lot of companies make their own 'installer software' which can eventually overflow your system drive. Could I also move some applications off the system drive to an external drive and use an ALIAS, SYMBOLIC LINK, OR HARD LINK? Which is best suited?
  3. If I have to move tracks between different versions of a project. I ALWAYS shut off the audio engine. copy over what I need, close appropriate project. So with only one project open, I turn on the audio engine again. no problems.
  4. one company suggested I try the stand alone virtual instrument. It was a good idea, it WORKED. Back to Logic I realize I had the wrong 'midi in port'. Albino 3 stopped working, but I find out it was very old, and discontinued.. I usually never install the stand alone, just AU. Having the stand alone is a good way to discover if midi not working is a problem with Logic (midi set-up for each track. Thanks guys.
  5. Does it work 'glitch free'. I just came across a website, Logic users with Silicon Mac, are having glitching unusable audio with 3rd party virtual instruments. I'm much more inclined to believe what users here say. Could you tell us the SSD size ane memory you have. I'm getting ready to buy a new Mac soon
  6. I have a 2016 mac pro, 16 gig of memory, 12 processors, Montery OS 12.6.7 = Logic Pro 10.7.9. I can't update past Monteray due to age of computer. Sometime around updating to Mac OS 12.6.4 and probably Logic 10.7.7 - about 1/6 of my 3rd party plug-ins stopped receiving midi. Logic MIDI monitor shows MIDI working. Those same plug-ins won't read a MIDI track either.. Some of those 3rd party plugins (all virtual instruments) have a keyboard on the plug-in itself. I can play those keyboards in the virtual instruments. Apple Logic pro techs, suggested that I back up Mac OS 2-3 versions. Apple would not acknowledge anybody else complaining about this (but I think that's the policty - not to acknowledge complains until they had a handle and an answer of it. Has any one else had these issues. All of my virtual instruments have been working fine for quite a long time. In the last few weeks I bought 2 new virtual instruments. One worked fine, the other doesn't recognize MIDI at all. Thanx - Mark Styles
  7. I getting more and more ads, which force you to watch the whole ad. Some of the internet TV sites are now playinng 2 minutes of ads. I just open another window and peruse till the ad is over.
  8. This dates back to computers with CD recorders contained in mac pro towers. A woman brought her Mac in and told the repair man that the 'drink holder' on her Mac broke and she needed it fixed. The holder wasn't extending out and there was no room on her computer desk to place the coffee
  9. I haven't done the math, but a lot of those files will be in each audio folder. Thus two extra copies of 80% of tracks. Don't think it will fit on DVD.. But it is a good idea to check first. THANX = it might work.
  10. Over the course of many sessions spread out over months. I have created many mixes (with alternative tracks), but 90% of tracks are the same. These got saved into three different projects as folders. I want to condense the projects down to one, so I can back up to DVD for a client. Any thoughts on best way? I thought of temporarily changing the name of the first two audio folders to something else. I would load latest project in first. All audio would be in audio folder 3. If I then tried to load Alternative song 2, I assume Logic would ask where files for song 2 were, I would point it at audio folder 3, and hopefully it should find all audio tracks. (I didn't delete unused tracks out of audio folders). I believe if Logic can't find an audio track, it will stop, and tell me where it thinks it is, (much the way Kontakt will ask if it can't find a particular audio sample. I would one at a time move audio track from audio folder 2 (folder name temporarily changed). If I pointed Logic to the wrongly named file, I assume it might look there for rest of files. Which afterward I could move audio tracks in audio folder 1, and 2 to folder 3. I have NEVER done something like this. Worst case scenario, I suppose I could print out all all three audio files, A/B them, and move audio tracks in question to audio file 3. Any ideas, suggestions, etc, would be greatly suggested. 11. I have several libraries with very accurate bass instruments. But very few of these will have vibrato. I have seen and heard bass players jiggle the string to create a great vibrato. But only 1 or 2 Kontakt with vibrato, but too mild for my taste. Ideally I would really like a very realistic bass instrument (sample o virtual) that could create extreme bass effects. slide up/down an octave. The pitchbend works to a degree. I used to use Trillian was was good. Multi Media's IK MODO bass is fairly decent, but doesn't go extreme enough (or I don't know how to approach it right. My first thought was if I could import a sine wave into the pitchbend track. and either use scripting to some how control it. Currently I jiggle the pitchbend, above/below 0 volts.. but it takes forever to redraw it in smooth. it really needs to be a sine for the effect I'm looking far. Anyone have any thoughts/techniques to approximate this.. I really don't seem to be able to grasp the 'scripting' of Logic. (which where the answer probably is).
  12. I've been using a Logitech MX - It is like a mouse but with a small ball on the side you operated with your thump. These is a very hort usb plug, you put in computer. If battery runs down, (which can take weeks/months. your can also charge it up and use it: https://amzn.to/3zTulHG I'm not sure if they are phasing it out.. The ball is small 1 1/4 big, you use your thumb. got 5 programmable switchs. Two speed (pixels per inch) so you can easily switch between a fast mouse which can all over the screen, or very find detail.. for those extra mall programmable buttons new.
