  1. If the Preference is set for QS Comp "Click Zones" (General-->Editing) then the button to toggle take folder edit mode goes away. Took me a while to figure that one out.
  2. I want 9 mic tracks to belong to 1 edit group for quick swipe comping of takes. I want the stereo mic pairs to each be grouped as stereo mix groups (for linking volume, solo mute, automation, sends). I hold shift and assign a stereo pair of channels to both the all edit group and to a stereo pair mix group. This breaks the edit linkage of the two stereo channels to the other 7 remaining channels, tho the 2 channels are edit-llinked to each other. Am I doing something wrong, or is Logic not able to do this?
  3. Thanks Eric. I was able to find an installer by going to the "Purchased" page rather then the "Updates" page. Downloading now. 1.31 GB. I guess I'll have to delete or rename the old app to install, hopefully I won't have to get the additional content again...
  4. Running 10.2.3 w El Capitan. The Lgic 10.2.4 update is not showing up in my App Store Updates area. Any ideas why not?

  7. Select a region in main window. Press Command-Y to cycle thru MIDI-Draw views - when you get to the one that should be Off view, it keeps displaying the last MIDI-Draw parameter until you click on the background of the Tracks area, deselecting the region, at which point the display switches to Off. Ditto if you are displaying MIDI Draw and press Comamnd-Shift-Y to turn off MIDI-Draw - you have to deselect the region for display to switch.
  8. Using the key command(s) for Set All Automation to Read (or Latch, Touch or Write), a nasty bug occurs: The main window sprouts tracks for Master fader, Output fader(s), any Auxes in use in the mixer, etc. including your Prelisten and Click faders (normally only visible in All view). The mixer then shows all these tracks since it is in Tracks view. Even worse, the Output track that is created cannot be deleted from the track list in the main window (very odd). Something similar occurs with key commands for toggling individual tracks Latch/Read etc - a 2nd master fader is created in the main window and in mice that can be deleted. Anyone else having this?
  9. Absolutely - for monitoring and headphone sends it is a nightmare. The fact that there is no AFL/PFL solo option makes this a more pressing issue. I was just saying that it can be nice to have a pre-fader reverb going and be able to scale that - but it should be an selectable option if at all...
  10. Well I'll eat my words. You were correct, my mistake. (Long story). Tested it and you are absolutely right. Maybe this should be changed (along with the fact that muting a channel strip mutes pre-fade aux sends). But there might be an argument for this design. After all, an advantage of VCA groups is that they influence post-fade sends to shared reverbs that are outside the group, meaning adjustments to the VCA groups don't alter your wet/dry mix when shared reverbs are not part of the group. So in Logic, Pre-fade sends behave like Post-fade sends in the case of VCA fader control of level, as well as in the case of mutes. Meaning if you use a _pre-fade_ send to a shared reverb that is not in the group it will _still_ preserve the wet-dry mix; this may in fact be helpful in many mix situations. The ultimate solution would be to have control over whether mute or VCA control influence pre-fade sends; either in a project setting, or even better, individually whenever you instantiate a bus send. This design is related to the 'advantage' pointed out elsewhere that in Logic's VCA faders, muting them also mutes any sends from the channels in its' group (kind of a post fade behavior, but it works on pre-fdae sends too....)
  11. Really? I have a mix going here and am using VCA faders (created using Folder stacks feature - same thing). I have a pre-fader send to a reverb that is not in the VCA group and even if I lower the VCA fader and hence the output level of the track with the send all the way, the reverb gets the same level regardless. This means that the VCA is not affecting the pre-fader send level. I do have a related long-term issue which is that _muting_ a channel strip mutes a pre-fader send. Anyone else with my experience?
  12. No, the track protect switch does not smpte-lock anything - everything still follows it's bar and beat position as you change tempos. That's why I've advocated for a switch that does have that function.
  13. I would think the behavior of the "Write Automation to Right Locator" command is also a bug - no?
  14. SO, liken the Write Automation to End command, I tested the Write Automation to Right Locator command. This seems to work incorrectly: Here's my feedback post: "... I tested the "Write Automation to Right Locator" command. I believe this should create a horizontal straight line value leading to the automation value existing at the right locator; instead it simply ramps up from wherever you press the command to that value."
  15. What is your best way to SMPTE-lock automation for many tracks in a project, considering that: - the workaround has been to convert any track automation to regions then lock those regions, but - when you lock a MIDI region the embedded region automation/fader events get locked too, but for Audio regions this is not the case This one has always been puzzler for me. I have long advocated a Track Lock button which would lock all contents of a given track...
