  1. I just got a Radial Bass Bone ($260 from Sweetwater), and with the little time I've spent with it, it already sounds worlds better than my former Bass Podxt. The Bass Bone is really versatile. Sure, you lose all the effects and crap that the Pod offered, but the tone is vastly better (to my ears)! But as others have said, it all starts with the fingers!! I'm far from where I'd like to be! Good luck!!!
  2. David, got my copy of the book last Saturday. I'll say what's been said many times before, GREAT BOOK! It truly is so easy to follow, and logically laid out. Can't wait to make my way through the rest of it. I also plan on leaving a big thumbs-up on Amazon's site. Thanks for writing this puppy! -Korey
  3. Book sounds great! Mine's on the way!!
  4. Groovy! I gotta check this out! Thanks for the tutorial!
  5. Hi all, I recently updated my ole' powerbook (G4 1.25) from Panther to Tiger. Launched Logic Express 7.1.1, a recent song/template file loads up fine. The file is an Addictive Drums template/map file. Addictive drums and everything else seems to work fine. I go to Logic Prefs, or Song Settings and I get the beach ball of doom. Trashed old prefs went through set-up assistant, created new song file, same results. Does 7.1.1 not jive with 10.4.11? Should I re-install Logic? Any help would be appreciated.
  6. Yeah, I'm not sure about the speeds, are they quicker? However, they should be great for saving battery power. Another possible practical fault of this book, I just heard a techy reviewer on G4 channel say that Airbook has no user-replaceable battery. Might not be a problem, but with Apple's past of battery recalls, this model could create some loooooong lines at the ole' genius bar.
  7. Howdy, I haven't had any problems like you describe with my AD (on Mac 10.4), so I don't have any advice, but have you gone on the AD forums at xlnaudio.com. Lars is always quick to respond and very helpful.

    Logic 8.01?

You might want to use a question mark (?) at the end of your thread title the next time you create one like this. You're going to be giving some people some heart attacks. As for specifics on your question, there is apparently an update coming soon. Do a search on here for Logic 8.1 HA! Good catch! Don't want to be killing the Logic-using masses!

    Logic 8.01?

Any rumors out there about when we'll see this much needed fixer-upper? I'm curious if it may be close, as XLNAudio's Addictive Drums just posted there update fixing a lot of Logic/Garageband bugs - except for the PPC G5 multi-out support in Logic, which they mention is a Logic problem that will be fixed in 8.01. Here's hopin!
  10. Good to know, I need a new internal soon. For externals I like my 2 Rocstor 800AV drives. QUIET, and so far trouble free (knocks wood)!
  11. Nope, those are to rich for my blood! Switching to a Cintiq would take some getting used to I'd think. I'd rather spend that $$$ on audio goodies!!!!
  12. Hey, maybe check out the discussion boards on the mac site concerning the firewire question. I'd think that 2 devices should be ok, but I'm not sure. I use firewire 800, but not sure it makes a HUGE difference. It all depends on your budget as far as which mac. I'd say in the long run, go for a tower. It will give you the room to grow down the road. Check this site or hit Google and look for some of the earlier G5 towers - if you can find them they should be priced pretty good. Avoid the liquid cooled G5s! I've heard some horror stories about those. The older Imacs could save you some $$ too. My 2 cents! http://www.mac-pro.com/ http://www.bhphotovideo.com/
  13. Here's a great site that has a good stock of re-furbs and new and used older models. Some good deals on there from time to time. http://www.mac-pro.com/
  14. I'm a graphics guy, so I use mine with Logic - However, I rarely use the pen, but the 2 button wheeled mouse is a godsend compared to a standard 1 - click mac mouse. I haven't taken advantage of custom button settings yet. I need to look into that!
  15. Thanks to all who have posted, here's a few to add to the mix...
