    GM sounds

Hello, I have ONE date coming up with no drummer available. Our idea was to use GM sequences in Logic10.3.2 on a MBPro running Sierra. The first tryout was pretty disastrous as far as sound allocation went - not many tracks produced the "named" sound. I guess this is because the sequence uses the GM bank of sounds, which in 10.3.2 are no longer supported / available? I don't feel up to re-allocating sounds to each track, then mixing correctly on 30 odd songs using the available sounds in LPX, for a 1 off date If anyone knows of an efficient work-around for this quandary I'd welcome their input. The date is Sept 15th, so there IS a bit of time to fiddle with stuff. Thanks all in advance Lance (Ozfrog )
  2. Hello, Using LPX 10.0.6 on a MBP - Retina under Sierra 10.12.6 I'm currently creating some music charts, using LPX as an audio reference guide and creating the chart with Finale. I can not for the life of me reduce the screen size of LPX to anything less than half the screen, which makes flipping from one App to the other problematical; ctrl+S to save last entries in Finale ctrl+tab to switch Appsle, '0' plus enter on the USB numerical pad to play the last extract Space bar to pause ctrl+tab to switch Apps .......... you get the picture I really need just the 1st audio track and the time-line above it visible to work comfortably, but at the moment it's hogging too much screen real estate. Any hope? Thanks in advance Lance
  3. Hello MBPro - 2014 - 13" Retina, OS 10.12.4, 8Go RAM, 500Go SSID Mainstage V3.0.3 I have been using Presonus Audio sound cards for some years with this set-up. The 1st model - FireBox - had one stint in the repair shop, then the second time, i was told "invest $50 more and upgrade, the repair will work out about the same price". So, up to a FireStudio - mobile. This has been 99% reliable. This babe has now decided not to provide anymore signal at the headphone output, which I use on small gigs for personal monitoring instead of humping amps and speakers around. The retailer offers the same advice - up to a new model. All other repair outlets concur - "It'll probably need a complete motherboard replacement, so the price of parts & labour won't be far off a new box", BUT, having looked at various retailers, there doesn't seem to be anymore Firewire connectivity available - ALL USB 2 Has anyone used USB2 connection to an external sound card with good results? And if anyone can recommend another make in a similar price range that uses FW instead of USB? OK thanks for all your feedback. Ozfrog ecnalnixod@gmail.com
  4. Hi All, MBPro Retina fin 2013, Sierra 10.12.3, 8Go RAM, Mainstage 3.0.3 Coming from the age of "real" Hammond Organs, the Native Instruments B4 plug still gives me a lot of pleasure and after some patching to get the 32 bit plug recognised as a 64 bit plug, all is well. All drawbars and other knobs and buttons can be controlled from my master KB which is great for real time sound mods. Now - Native Instruments, in there infinite wisdom, have discontinued this plug-in ????? So one day or another, I'm going to have to learn the Logic Vintage Organ virtual instrument. Every time I start to examine the Be-Bop organ, or any of the other flavours, I get the following problem. As soon as I open up the graphical display and try do do anything apart from touching the drawbars of turning the Leslie ON/OFF, MainStage crashes out completely. I am considering upgrading to a more recent version of MS in the faint hope that this bug might have been rectified, but the reading the posts, I'm NOT sorely tempted; Everyone seems to say "Stay with what you have if it's working!!!!!" Unless I've also missed something, we need to buy the program AGAIN each time we want to upgrade = c'mon Apple, I've just seen your financial results for the last quarter. I don't think you're short of a $. Any comments or tips are more than welcome. If you want to contact me directly; ecnalnixod@gmail.com Bye
  5. Hi, I have currently 3.0.3 on an iMac running El Capitan - after some U.I. updates, that's fine. My professional music machine is a MBPro still under Yosemite. I think it will stay that way until some further bug fixes for El Capitan come along. Correct me if I'm wrong - I have searched a lot of sites looking for an upgrade from 3.0.3 to 3.2.1 without success. Nothing available on the App store, and no links from within MainStage. Am I to believe another financial investment is the only way this can be done? Thanks

    Extra content

Hi, anyone else had this issue. Having recently installed LP 10.1.0 on an aging iMac (2008) I was informed that extra content was available. At the last look - the 4Go approx of stuff was needing 29 hours to download. I know Apple must be busy with the watch and stuff, but 29 hours? Ozfrog

    LOST MODULE

Hi, having just moved from MainStage 2.2 to V3 my favorite Hammond Organ module, the N.I. B4-II is no longer recognized, and a new installation of that module is being asked for. Dilemma - I have just spent a month setting up a new show on V2.2, there are some nice sounds I could use in V3 and V3 will read my old V2,2 MainStage file fine. I am a little concerned about reinstalling the N.I. module; 1. Will V2,2 still run as before. 2. Will V3 still be able to load my V2.2 file once the module has been reinstalled. 3. The module is no longer on the N.I. catalogue so my saved version might date from "Snow-Lion". All this on a 2014 MBPro Retina Cheers Ozfrog
  8. Hi I'm currently using a MB 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo with a Presonus Firemobile sound card and MainStage 2 I would like to move up to a more powerful machine with some SSD memory. My choices are; 1. MacBook Air with 8Go RAM and 512 Go SSD OR, 2. A MB Pro with basically the same configuration. Here in France there is about 13% price difference in favor of the Air. Neither beast has a Firewire port which is the only output the Presonus offers, but I hear there's a FireWire/TB adapter which may or may not function perfectly. If anyone has suggestions or even better, 1st hand experience, all comments will be more than welcome. PS I will be visiting family in Australia during August and can get 10% off, taking it out as a gift - could be the way to go Ozfrog
  9. Thanks for the reply - I didn't get the warning
  10. Sure - all the available Jam Packs - but still lacks decent brass stuff - Harmon mute trumpet, Bass clarinet, the orchestral JP stuff is pretty run of the mill - only one example of a baritone sax - sole oboe? - ah well
  11. Hi, this may help someone. I recently recorded a live DVD with my band and the keyboard tracks were heavily overloaded during the recording and needed to be re-done. The people doing the post production work sent me a mix track, plus my original keyboard track so i could re-record my parts. Fine - on connecting up my gear - MainStage 2 on the MacBook + a Presonus sound card line output to the iMac running Logic, I was more than a little surprised to find all my new keyboard parts were about a tone and a half flat! After considerable head scratching and a torrent of emails, here's the gist of it. The original recordings were done at 48KHz and Logic automatically imports at 41,2KHz. No warning - that's the default setting so go with it or start the maddening menu search where the input sampling rate can be set. And NO it's not in Prefs/Audio. So beware - if you're importing audio that's not your very own recorded stuff, be aware that you may have to check the sample rate it was recorded at and match that to the input sample rate. Happy days. 8)
