  1. Sometimes when I punch in there is a brief but unsettling silence and sometimes there is no silence, just a seamless punch. I approach projects pretty much the same way every time so I can't figure out what it happens sometimes and not other times.
  2. Good working habits! I like the "shell" idea. I know- $200? It's insane. I've been recording for many years and I would say that the current version of Logic is worth about $10,000 in what you would spend on a comparable hardware studio. Seriously!
  3. I looked and the Audio Files box is checked. Does that mean that the files I dragged in are actually in the project? Do you happen to know another way to check? Much appreciated.
  4. Hmmm. Good point. So, does that mean that even though the files have been "moved" from project 2 to project 1- the actual files still remain in project 2 and if I were to trash project 2 thinking I didn't need it anymore, I would actually be erasing those "moved" files?
  5. OK. Just in case anyone is still interested. Here's how I make it work. I have both projects open. I go to project 2 and identify the regions I want to copy (Ukulele#14, Bass#25, etc). I bring project 1 forward. I then go to the Finder and open the folder holding the audio files from project 2 and drag those files into project 1. Now THAT works. I waited until I got all of them done before posting but that's the ticket boys!! Thanks for the interest.
  6. That's a hilarious story David! Crazy. And guess what, the problem is back, Bounce in Place worked for a while but has now stopped working. Somewhere between copying and pasting gremlins are switching the regions. Next, I will try actually bouncing the files and importing them. Sheesh.
  7. The All Files Browser seems a bit complicated. All I want to do is copy and paste 2 or 3 regions at a time from one project to another but there are definitely issues with that! A friend called me back and suggested I use Bounce in Place. That works like a charm. I BIP and then copy and paste from one project to another and I'm back in business. Thanks to those that took the time to reply. I'm off and running.
  8. Yeah, I can do that but this way would be so much quicker and easier- IF IT WORKED! I just don't get why it gets 2 out of 3 tracks right. SO close yet so far away.
  9. I'm working on a job that has 54 short pieces using 2 or 3 tracks each. At about 90 tracks I started to have overload issues so I opened a second Logic project. I am now organizing the tracks in project 1 side by side to mix them ( I am up to measure 500) and I want to copy the tracks from the second Logic project into the first Logic project. BUT when I copy the first song in project 2(a ukulele, a voice, and a bass) and paste them into project 1 there is a problem- while the uke and voice are fine the bass is from a completely different song. Wha??? I've tried it a million different things- including using all 3 options when I paste- but to no avail. Does anyone have ANY ideas what the heck is going on? Stumped. Logic 10.4.8
  10. Yes, I know, I know, Waveburner is crap but it seems to be working for me (I tried Quattro but had too many problems). I'm mastering a CD and want to send the files to the manufacturer. I can make a CD (they don't accept DDP) but I'd like to send them the project electronically. Can someone tell me what export function I use in WB to send the files so they arrive as if I've sent them a CD? Does that make sense? Thanks!!
  11. Actually I went ahead and bit the bullet. TM restores the old project and gives you the option of whether to keep the most recent project or replace it. All I needed was a MIDI file to I kept the most recent project. TM names the old one "original" and now I have both projects. I took the MIDI file from the old one and will delete it. Whew!
  12. I'm looking for a MIDI piano track in Time Machine that I trashed a couple months ago. When I "restore" what happens with my current version of the project? I'm a little nervous...
  13. All great suggestions. I'm on it. THANK YOU!!
  14. I've used this same set up for years and I don't know if I'm just more sensitive to noise or there is something up but there is a buzz that I can't seem to find and I'm wondering if anyone has links to getting rid of the buzz in a home studio. I've got an AT 4060 into a UA 6176 into a USB Apogee Duet into a 3 year old iMac running Logic X. I have Genelec 8030's for monitors. I have everything plugged into grounded plugs. There is a modem nearby and a TV and a cable box. If anyone can point me in the direction of a tutorial on eliminating the hum I'd greatly appreciate it. THANKS!
