  1. By friend Steve at Hollow Sun has been busy porting his Akai library to EXS24. He doesn't have the NovaChord ready for EXS24...yet. You can check it out at the link below. The link has some really nice freebies for you to check out. http://www.hollowsun.com/shop/Freepacks/exs.htm All of his stuff is top notch and has had good reviews in SOS.
  2. I would like to recommend this blog that I have really enjoyed. Tom really knows his stuff and he has some great tips and suggestions. It is not totally about Logic, but very informed and entertaining. http://waveformless.blogspot.com/ Enjoy it.
  3. Presonus had me install the lite version of Cubase that the thing shipped with and test there. No midi input there either. They are sending a new midi break-out cable and failing that will replace the unit. Thanks again for helping be eliminate the other possibilities.
  4. Thank you both. I do not have another midi interface except for a Novation Xiosynth. When I plug it in to the exact same project, it works fine. Now it does transmit over USB and not firewire so I don't know what difference, if any, that could make. I have used the Fusion with the same cables to trigger other synths in my studio successfully so I am certain that the keyboard is sending out midi. There is no indicator light on the FS Tube to how if the midi is active. I have asked Presonus if there is a utility in their fire control software that might show if midi is being received or not and they have not responded to that question as yet. I won't take up any more of your time here. i think at this point it is a hardware problem. The frustration is to now convince Presonus of this when they believe I can solve the problem by running a feature that was discontinued in Logic 8. I have asked them if they mean the AMS utility instead of the setup assistant. Thank you all for the help.
  5. You seemto be telling me to do exactly as I have already done more than once. The picture that you put up of the environment page is exactly the same as what i have with the exception of a keyboard icon that triggers sound when you prod it with a mouse. I have started this process from scratch several times. Forgive for saying it again but your tone is condescending and now you can predict the future as well. You just know I am going to post some more dumb questions. So what if I do? Are you harmed in some way? When you see my dumb questions, just pass them by. If you want to help, thank you, I appreciate it. If you need to put the attitude in there to show me how much more you know than I, don't bother. I am fairly new at this.
  6. I have the firewire from the Presonus plugged in to my Mac. The USB port on an Alesis Fusion is for data transfer only. It does not transmit Midi. I am aware of that. So, no I don't have a USB cable from the Fusion to the Mac. Fusion midi out> Presonus midi in. Fusion midi in> Presonus midi out Presonus shows in Audio Midi setup. With a software track selected and the record button armed all midi in to Logic should go to that track and trigger that instrument. Correct? The idicator at the bottom of the screen shows no input.I hear no sound. If I switch to the Qwerty keyboard, it shows midi notes and I hear sound. I have re-seated all of the cables several times. I have tried starting a blank project in Logic. I have tested the the midi cables by using the Fusion to trigger other synths in my studio. The firewire cable gets audio in and out of the Presonus. I think the fault has to be the midi breakout cable supplied with the Presomus or the midi port on the unit itself. I am merely trying to make sure that I haven't missed something in Logic.
  7. I'll assume you also connected the FS to the comp via firewire. Connected correctly, that should've been enough. I would've stopped there. Not sure about this part. I don't think it's necessary. The Alesis shoud transmit MIDI into Logic by just doing the two steps above. Thanks. That is what I thought as well. I am simply trying to eliminate any possible cause since Presonus has assured me that my problem is in the set in Logic. Thanks for the help and the better attitude.
  8. [ Condescension and sarcasm on an internet forum? How original! How new! I was asking a Logic/midi setup question. It seemed sensible to include the back story in case I am missing something. Midi 101 for instance. Does it pertain to my midi situation? I believe that I have taken exactly all of these steps as described and midi is NOT working. Then Presonus tech support is mistaken and that is an important part of reaching a solution with them. Thank you. On the Fusion you are correct and I was aware of that.
  9. Thanks for the response. I have done this... 1-loaded the software provided by Presonus and updated it. 2- External key midi out to FS Tube midi in and external key midi in to FS Tube midi out. 3- Application>Utilities>audi/midi setup and added my Alesis Fusion as an external device and connected it to the FS Tube icon with virtual cables. There is NO midi Input showing at the bottom of the Logic screen. Logic sees the FS Tube. It is showing as both an audio and midi device. The last word from Presonus tech support is that he verified with his supervisor that all I have to do is "run a setup assistant". Can anyone confirm or deny that such a thing exists in Logic 8? It seems to me that with the steps that I have taken I should be up and running. Logic should "see" the midi and I would be on the way. Presonus has not answered any of my questions on their tech support forum other than to say that I should load the latest driver, which I did. This in spite of the fact that the latest driver on their website was the exact same number that was on the disk that it shipped with. I have been at this for over a week. Just trying to get midi to work.
  10. Going at my MIDI problem from a different direction... Presonus tech support has just e-mailed that there is a "setup assistant" that I must run to configure my Firestudio Tube to get midi in from my keyboard. I can't find any mention of this in the manual and did find some discussion of it on the internet to the effect that Logic & had a setup assistant and Logic 8 does not. Anyone know anything about this please?
  11. I am having trouble getting MIDI into Logic 8 on my MacBook pro through a new Presonus Firestudio Tube. I have created the external keyboard in the audio/midi utility and cabled it to the Firestudio icon. Presonus tech support is telling that I have to run a "setup assistant" and I have poured through the Mnauals for over an hour but I can find no mention of such an assistant in Logic 8. I think the drivers are smegged or the input doesn't work. But I cannot be sure. If I load the device drivers, plug everything in, the Mac sees the FS Tube plugged in and I have connected the external keyboard midi out to the Presonus midi input, and I have made the connections in the audio/midi utility and hit "rescan misi",... shouldn't it work? Have I missed something?

    Deleting A Project

No, you understood my question. Then I guess my real problem is not understanding the file structure. Got it now and thanks.
  13. I have some test projects that I set up and now I can't figure out how to delete a project. How is this done?
