  1. Wicked thanks man For some reason I thought if the HD lags (ie sometimes it takes a while to "wake up" into action, once I havent acsesed anything on it for an hour or so. You know taht whurring HDs do. Was worried when accessing jam packs or bouncing, if the HD stalled or such it would stuff things up.
  2. maybe this is a stupid question, I need to upgrade to Logic 8, but not enough room on my mac mini's HD! I have an external 1TB HD with FW800, but since the mini doesnt support it, im worried running the jam packs via FW400 will it be too slow ? and is this a good idea, eventually ill upgrade but for now I have logic 8 sitting there for 1 week and unsure if I should install or not or just wait but the waiting is killing me using 7
  3. Wicked cheers guys Will look more into the Alesis M1 Active MK2 and what sort fo price I can get Maybe I can score some second hand Stoked, thanks again this has been a huge help.
  4. thanks alot guys, I think I may go for the M-Audio BX5's I'm not sure if they are active, ie; will I need an amplifier to power them or no? Thanks again
  5. ok seems as tho its down to the M-Audio BX5's or the Blue Sky Media Desk which it seems I can get either for around the same price in £ What to do! what to do!, ....wish I could hear both of them in my room :/ anyone have opinion of one over the other, advantages/disadvantages of having the separate sub? I like the idea of the smaller satellites that the media desk has for my desk size. hmmmm, thanks guys!
  6. Thanks Doc will def look into these also, =) maybe it will come down to the physical size of each, a big Sub might be a pain especially If I dont have room to place it appropriately for decent sound
  7. sorry read up and they are obviously self powered (sorry bout my lack of appropriate lingo) Ex Repaid B-Stock tested for £160 http://www.dv247.com/invt/52653/ im in =) !
  8. Both great suggestions thanks so much for this Headphones is a great idea, but I really miss just being able to listen to music out loud when chilling at home, so if I can kill 2 birds with one stone id be stoked, but headphones is my next purchase Oddtime, These look/sound perfect for what Im after... Excuse my ignorance, but does active mean they dont require an amp? so I could plug straight into my mac and be away? Thanks guys appreciate the help
  9. Hi all, Am wondering if anyone could lend some advice on which brand/model of Monitors I should go for, my situation is this... • I have a small bedroom setup with neighbors on 2 sides • Would prefer if they could power themselves, ie; I wouldn't need to purchase an amplifier as well. • Smallish budget, dont really want to spend more than £250 (I know you get what you pay for) Basically Im after something I can get a decent sound through when creating my rough demos (and listen to music in general), then obviously take to a studio to mix/master my tracks eventually. So they dont have to be pro but best for my money I guess. Any advice would be muchos appreciated! Cheers Chris, ...Kiwi in London =)
  10. ..I have a G4 powerbook, and I get "system overload" when running Ultrabeat and like 2-3 other plugins ! its soooo frustrating!... So, from what I am reading above.. recording to an external Firewire HD rather than the System HD, will help with this issue ?? Thanks! - Chris
  11. no doubt David, agreed im stoked with it so far, and dont have an opinion on the microKontrols Pads yet, since im yet to have them working successfully wth logic! that Roland MV-8000 looks like a sweet lil tool too =)
  12. that ultra beat preset was easy, thanks for that!! just stumbled accross this article re: the Pads on the Korg MicroKontrol... "The pads are one of the main reasons anyone would consider this controller and are the center of much debate. I’ve never used an MPC, but from everything I hear about them, the microKontrol pads do not compare. The guy who sold me the controller would have kept it had the pads been more sensitive. That being said, the pads are still better than keys for inputting/playing percussion. Another microKontrol user has also mentioned that they get softer and more sensitive over time, so it may be possible to coax a broader velocity range out of them as time goes on." http://www.djrx.com/index.php?id=30 shuld have read that first maybe
  13. farkin legend Dave. I do believe u may have given me just enough to save me pulling my hair out/chucking it all in the too-hard-basket. ill be trying all this out as soon as I get home (at werk at the mo) Chur! Chris
