  1. Thanks Jangus! Sounds promising, but I might wait a little while to upgrade.
  2. I have read that new iOS 10.3.1 for iPads and iPhones features a new file system, APFS, which replaces the old HFS+. I'm running the Logic Pro 10.3.1 on El Capitan and I don't want to lose functionality of the remote. Any experience from users?
  3. One more thing. Do you enable TRIM on your SSD's? I know OWC has their own garbage collection software built in, but I thought I'd get your opinion.
  4. Hello Experts, After dealing withe the problematic, deteriorating Samsung EVO 840 http://www.techspot.com/article/997-samsung-ssd-read-performance-degradation/ I'm looking to upgrade to either: Samsung 850 PRO https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-850-PRO-2-5-Inch-MZ-7KE512BW/dp/B00LF10KTO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481584431&sr=8-1&keywords=samsung+ssd+850pro Or the OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD. https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/SSD7P6G480/ I'm running Logic Pro. Does anyone have an opinion, one way or the other? Also, is it important to run trim or not? Thanks in advance. Geoff
  5. This could be potentially great for me, but I've also heard it can cause harm to certain Samsung and crucial ssds, which unfortunately a lot of us own.
  6. Thanks for the info! If it's basically the same of Trim Enabler, I'll just continue to use TE instead of DS. Looks like DS might be a little safer though. People are also using something called Chameleon SSD Opimizer as well, which is also free.
  7. I used to use Trim Enabler by this company for my Samsung Pro 840 and EVO SSDs, but now that I'm using Yosemite, you can't enable trim with out a certain amount of risk. My Pro 840 is pretty snappy without the trim, but i notice a real slowdown with the EVO. I noticed the same company has a new product called "Disk Sensei" which uses something called "Manual Trim". Has anyone used it? https://www.cindori.org/software/disksensei/
  8. If anyone is using this combination and feels good about it let me know. I'm afraid that I could royally screw something up if I enable trim on my system. On the other hand, I'm worried my performance and SSD will suffer if I don't have trim. I'm somewhat naive on this subject. I've tried searching the forum and didn't feel like I got any decisive info on this, so I appreciate any input. peace, geoff
  9. http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core-i5-2.5-13-mid-2012-unibody-usb3-specs.html I will be using it to record no more that 4 tracks at one time. I have a more powerful laptop for 8-track recording. If I upgrade the memory and put in a SSD, should it be a pretty solid performer? Thanks in advance! Geoff
  10. What is an s/h battery? There are plenty of apple compatible batteries on Amazon.
  11. Actually, i think I'm going to to try one of these portable headphone amplifiers. http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-E6-Portable-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B005HJWWW8/ref=pd_rhf_gw_p_d_1
