  1. yes, similar experiments here... ive been opening the mixer and selecting and deselecting some of the global views, and randomly it will fix the bug and ill be able to switch on the MCU for the rest of the session. but on reloading the session, bug is back...
  2. Logic has been crashing to desktop (with no autosave) when I press the Global View button on the MCU Pro. It doesnt matter if its in Mackie Control or Logic Control mode. Switching from single to Tracks to All in the mixer works fine, but as soon as i touch the Global View button, Logic disappears. Mac Pro Mid 2010 High Sierra 10.13.6 Anyone else?
  3. So when I press play or record in Logic with my MCU Pro, I see a constant CC 64 being sent on my MIDI OUT on my Midi Activity in Logic.. I don't know if this is usual, but I don't feel like it's done that in the past? it's causing some strange hanging sustain pedal issues on my MIDI tracks... what does the MCU use CC 64 for?
  4. you were right, CC10 was being effected.. not sure why
  5. So I just bought a new breath controller, and for whatever reason, it is effecting Logic Drummer, even when I am not using it.. Unless I unplug it, within a few seconds the panning of the drum track pushes over to the left about 75% It seems like it's some kind of CC 11 effecting drummer, even when I switch away from that CC on the controller.. Is there any way to filter any incoming midi CC from effecting the drummer track?
  6. I just picked up two of these: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/SSDACL6G.S/ To connect a new 1TB SSD and another one that I currently have running through the SATA II port. Would I be better off with an enclosure and USB3 interface card for the second SSD (EW Composer Cloud drive)? It would allow me to take my sample library with me, but it seems at a big speed cost The benchmarks for the USB3 look like half of the 550MB/s that the Accelsior is spec'ed at: USB 3.0 219 MB/s Read and 219 MB/s Write Accelsior S: Read: up to 550MB/s - this depends on mechanism installed Write: 530MB/s - this depends on mechanism installed Scott
  7. So I excitedly downloaded the 5.8 update to my UAD-2 card that allows 64-bit kernel mode recognition of my UAD-2 card. Unfortunately, the plug-in's are still 32 bit, and it has to use the 32 bit bridge when running Logic in 64 bit mode. This allows me only to view one UAD Plug-in instance at a time, which is highly prohibitive to a mixing environment. My question is, is it even worth it to run Logic in 64 bit mode if I'm using alot of UAD plug-ins? Do I gain any performance benefits with my 8GB of memory when using the 32-bit bridge on many tracks? Is there any benefit to booting in 64-bit KERNEL mode and then running Logic in 32 bit mode? I would honestly rather be able to see several UAD plug-in on my screen at once than running Logic in 64 bit mode, and not gaining much performance boost. Thanks
  8. So I am doing projects where I am dealing with very large and long spoken word audio... I have been working with mono MP3 files as tracks instead of converting them to PCM and having moderate success with that... however sometimes Logic will just hang with the spinning wheel when trying to playback some of these tracks.. sometimes not... sometimes it works like a champ.. If I could work with just mp3's it would save me alot of drive space.. a 2.5 hour spoken word PCM is like 500-600mb.. an mp3 just 50mb.. Has anyone else effectively worked with long mp3 files like this? Scott
  9. Upgraded to logic 9 and can't find the option to set a maximum record time! I am archiving cassette tapes and need to set record time at 90 minutes so I can walk away from the system and the recording stops when 90 min is reached. I could easily do this in Logic 7 but can't figure it out in 9.
  10. Hi! I'm in the market to buy a new Mac Pro, and wondering if some pros who are using Logic in their studios can give me some support on picking options that are conducive for a rock solid DAW setup. Processor : Is the Dual 2.8 Quad Core sufficient or overkill? Would the single processor be enough? How much more bang would I get from the 3.0 or 3.2Ghz processors for $800 and $1600 more respectively. Memory: I'm thinking that 4GB is a minimum for a solid Logic Studio. RAID or NOT? Second Hard Drive : Should I do my recording on a second 7200 SATA drive? Or should I look into an eSATA interface and go with a GRAID-Q drive? Graphics: Should I bump up to the GeForce 8800GT card? Cinema Display? Worth the bucks? Can I hook up a standard VGA display? Apple Care: what do you think? thanks for your wisdom and any additional insights... Scott
  11. so what would be the best setup for trying to record 24 tracks onto an iMac with no eSATA option, with an MAudio Firewire 400 interface and a Gtech drive with the option of FW800, FW400 and USB 2.0 connections? Would the USB 2.0 with an empty drive be fast enough to capture 24 tracks, 44/16 without glitches? Should I just record to the single internal HD on the iMac (this seems like a bad idea). thanks
  12. So i'm pretty happy with Logic 7... I've head that Logic 8 is a dumbed down version of Logic and that it's appealing to the Garageband crowd and has disappointed pro users... what is the consensus on Logic 8?
  13. I have a 24" iMac with Logic 7.2 and my old Logic 5.5.1 on my PC with my UAD-1 card, waves bundle, autotune, several soft synths that I want to use... What is a good way to use these systems together... get the benefits of my UAD plug-ins and Native bundles on my PC while using the Logic 7 as the master? They are connected through an Ethernet network. Is there any way to run the plug-ins from my PC UAD-1 System via a plug-in on the Logic 7 tracks? Considering the UAD latency issue? thanks so much Scott
