  1. You can of course assign a KC to individual tools. But in the case of the Marquee, it is I think common practice for most Logic users to assign it as your Command tool. So no need to do anything apart pressing Cmd and selecting something. Some people assign it to the lower zone tool but never found much love to this solution.
  2. Pro Tools doesn’t use the efficiency cores on Mx machines. I have 8P and 2E on my M1 Pro and PT only sees 8 cores. And if you saw the same video as I did about different DAWs performance, the problem on that video is the user is using a 1024 buffer size like in the old days. But it’s been pretty much proven that Mx machines perform better on lower buffer sizes. Don’t ask me to explain it but that’s what I’m seeing also on my computer.
  3. That was worth a shot. IIRC, that mode was created for your exact use case(loads of input recording at once).
  4. Did you try what I wrote a couple of days ago? Quoting myself: Are you using the Playback+Live Tracks setting in the Audio Prefs or just the default Playback setting?

  6. Nobody replied to my comment couple of pages ago. Not a bug per se but a little GUI glitch, I don’t have colored channel strips anymore in the Inspector. The bottom part of those strips used to have the same colour as the strip in the Mixer. Now they’re magnificent gray. Anybody else?
  7. I wouldn’t qualify that as a bug but there’s no colour any more on the two Inspector channel strips. Is it only me?

What’s funny is Mac Rumors had a picture with 2 MBP on its “What to expect at Apple event”. One with Final Cut and the other with Logic Pro. Nothing to stop the expectations!!

Good thing that I went back to LP9 not so long ago, for reasons I won’t go into here, so if the new version goes subscription-only it won’t affect me. I would not go into subscription for a DAW as I now use it very part-time. Using it professionally and making money out of it? Sure, no problems if the price is fair. Same as my TV sub, if for any reason I would watch TV 2 hours/month, I would stop paying. David makes good points about not comparing the tablet market with the Mac market. Someone who decides to not continue using Logic has zero incentive to stay on Mac. Most other DAWs in the market are Windows-compatible so when the time comes to renew your computer you could look elsewhere. If LP11 comes and sells for 200$, with all the new customers they now have because of the price structure they used with LP10, they would make a lot of money. Not so long ago, my day job was selling audio interfaces and speakers, etc. I’ve done that for years and believe me, a lot more people use Logic compared to 15 years ago!! Apple could decide to charge like 50$ for version like LP11.1, 11.2, etc and it would provide a constant income from Logic. I can’t think of someone who would complain to pay 50$ if the new version has new features the user is interested in. That would make a kind of subscription model but the user can continue to use the previous version if he/she doesn’t want to pay for the new version… as long as the older version you use stays compatible with macOS!!
  10. Apple did cut off PPC machines with LP9, unofficially with 9.0(Universal app but no support) but officially with 9.1 although system requirement was 10.5.7, an OS at the time that PPC machines could run no problems. That being said I doubt they would remove Intel compatibility on the next version, it’s way too soon.
  11. And what about the Master fader? Not the Main Out fader, the one on its right, by default anyway. Is it at unity also?
  12. Make sure that it’s the R and not the I that is engaged on the channel you’re recording. When the R is engaged, the meters show what’s coming into Logic no matter where the level fader on that channel is at. When you press the I(input monitoring), if you peak on your interface input but the channel fader is lowered on that channel, the level will look good because what the level is showing is the level in Logic(because you lowered the fader), not what’s coming into Logic(interface input).
  13. Un homme de parole!! Don’t know how to say it in english. Thanks, will print it and stick it to the wall!!
  14. Great article David. A nice add-on would be a list of things you can do with "Force-touch" in LP. I remember you posted something about it a long time ago and can't find it! I know the basic ones but I'm often wondering if I'm missing out on some useful ones. Thanks.
  15. Well, you obviously updated Logic between the 2 photos. Anyway, the top 5 items are the last 5 functions that you used. So, find it in the menus lower, use it once and it will be back on the top menu.
