  1. in the thread you linked it says it crashes 8.02 as well, i don't know, i run the plugin very successfully under 10.6.2 and 8.0.2 i just followed the standard install instructions and voila! works a treat ever since...?
  2. i run 10.6.2 and 8.02 on an older 2.16ghz MBP and have no issues, only thing is that logic's cpu meter shows since SL that the cores are not utilised equally like before... but i am not sure if that is not just a sort of 'graphical' bug, because i still can ride logic real hard and push the cpu, no problems at all... also there was just recently a new prokit update, did you already installed that?
  3. i will take the plunge to 10.6.2, i don't have another chance anyway... and i will report. damn apple i don't want to go to shitty logic 9, i have live 8 and don't need the new copy cat crap!!! logic do your damn own!!!
  4. hi, i have a similar problem since installing snow leopard... 10.6.1 (still running logic 8.0.2) actually most seems OK, but it screwed the environment... slightly, it does not output any audio anymore during a recording... i can record fine, but sending stuff through a bus is impossible and nothing arrives on the master track either... that means i can't monitor a recording... once i have material recorded, or import audio, it seems all is like it should be, i mean i can work with it and it is been send to the master, etc... strange... anyone have a similar experience or knows a fix? cheers
  5. NO, firewire on the MB wtf Apple??? i hope they will pay badly for it, i seriously mean paying very badly for it... and i don't mean financially!! wtf Apple... starting to be just another, dell, hp or whatever s#!+. damn pay for it.
  6. the point of dashboard is, that if you don't launch it after a system restart, it doesn't take neither cycles nor ram whatsover...!!! dashboard only starts to run in the background once it has been launched for the FIRST TIME after a system restart. ever noticed that the first launch always takes longer then all the others? that is why! OSX is clever. and if you work on something serious, regarding audio, then just restart and DON'T launch dashborad and it will take ZERO resources. all the tinkertool, onyx and god knows what stuff is in a way useless, as it only runs scripts and other things which are already part of osx...

    Old sound

+1 for booth of them izotope vinyl = free psp vintagewarmer = pay, but well worth it
  8. yepp 2gb is making a diffrence, i use the same MBP with 2gb of ram and it's flying.
  9. i second this one, works brillant and you can even midi control it. tip: use your pitch bend wheel and asign it... squatchi, squatchi woooop....
  10. fair enough! but it is 12 aux and 12 buses... for shure. i am actually do a fair bit in express do to the fact of not having this annoying dongle for my MBP to carry around and misplace somwhere, but then i am a minimalist i like to keep things as simple as possible... mainly i start tracks on the MBP and take them into the studio to pro mainly for for the additional plugs and my mix environment, moniors, etc...
  11. +1000. I picked it up pretty fast too, but the biggest surprise was how un-logical it is compared to every other DAW. Very fiddly IMO, powerful, but not streamlined enough. i guess, that is a very individual thing, to me besides Live, Logic is the most logical i ever worked with, i love it for that. it's like made fo me! logic is somewhat hard to learn, but it's soooo deep / great and well worth the steep learning curve IMHO.
  12. There is an even BIGGER restriction in express, and I didn't see anyone mention it: 8 Buses and Auxes. This is the biggest limitation IMO. Thing is I don't use any of the midi instruments in logic, most plugs I don't use either I have my own set of 3rd parties I'm attached to. So I considered express and saw this horror of a limitation and pretty much had to pay the extra 700 what ever for 64(?) auxes and buses. If you use something like BFD you're at 32 auxes instantly. If they remove this restriction in next revision, I'm more apt to get express for the work I do. Otherwise you might as well get Garage band R i have and use both, express on lappy pro in the studio, express has max 12 aux and buses NOT 8.
  13. express has all the other mentioned drawbacks, BUT THIS IS SIMPLY WRONG! he should read the manual!! you can record midi in express. also, pro is by far better, for 300bucks express delievers still great power.
  14. i mainly use the enviroment for mixing, sort of habbit i guess, over the time i can already pretty much overlook what i need before i start a project and i created plenty of custome made templates... to start with. here and there a little adjustment in no time and i am up and running with all elemnts in the mixer i actually need. also i have an 'traditional' way of organising tracks, drums... bass... etc. so the 'order' is automatically reflecting in the mixer... the way i like it.
