  1. I’m not satisfied with the mix. I’m working with raw files. I’ve got drums and a bunch of scratch tracks that need to be saved. I’d rather bounce all the tracks individually than move forward with a sub mix thanks for your suggestion
  2. I thought you might say that. I'm pretty unfamiliar with flex time stuff. I think I found you and another member outlining the procedure here I already used smart tempo to give me a beat by beat tempo map. I can redo the tempo map if I have to ... could reseting the tempo map to a constant tempo make it easier for flex time and give me better results? Is leaving flextime on for 35 tracks going to be a drag on my system as I move forward? Will I be able to bounce the results, or does flextime automatically create a new bounce version? Since this is the foundation of the song I want to make sure everything's as solid and bulletproof as possible before I start layering new tracks
  3. Turns out, no that won't work. It appears that the only time varispeed gets used on a bounce is when you bounce the project, not BIP Do I need to approach this 4% speed increase in another way?
  4. Wait … is this how I should do it? File > Bounce > And Replace All Tracks.
  5. I'm working on an old song (imported from a Korg standalone DAW) and part of the reason the song was abandoned (did I mention we recorded these tracks 10 years ago?) is that the drums were too slow. Now that the tracks (about 35) are all imported I"ve used varispeed to push the speed up 4% and it's sitting where I want it. Then I started to think that maybe working on a project with varispeed on the whole time could become an issue with RAM or have other unforeseen consequences. How should I proceed with writing this 4% speed increase to the tracks? It occurs to me that I could bounce all the tracks one by one (or maybe bounce in place?), but maybe there's an easier way. If I have to bounce the files, I'll probably just start over and import those into a new project ... just in the name of keeping things tidy
  6. I figured it out. My theory is that when I upgraded it applied the upgrade to the last one I had open, which happened to be the copy. So now, the one that's Labeled 10.7.4 is running 10.7.7, but the one that I copied from is still 10.7.4. I'll just rename them and that'll be that, I suspect. Thanks to des99 for getting me to recheck with get info. I actually wrote this before David Responded, but I forgot to click submit.
  7. I did all of that stuff, except for zipping it, but you're saying that not everyone does that. When I open this copy (by double clicking on it in the applications folder) it just opens in 10.7.7.
  8. I tried to follow these instructions from another thread, but when I try to open the copy after an update, it still says the new version of Logic when I click on "about Logic Pro" in the menu bar from David Nahmani Any help with what I'm doing wrong would be greatly appreciated

    Fresh start

I can buy that. So there's no kind of disc maintenance that's good to do while the HD is mostly clear?

I wanted to restore my Mac from a few days old time machine backup, but that didn't work out for me. (most of the gory details). Now I find myself having to rebuild my user acct (looks like I have to manually add all the files, and redo the preferences on all apps). Should I do anything else (disk repair, reinstall the OS and all apps, etc) first? Things seem to be working OK, but since migration assistant failed me I thought that perhaps there was some issue that I might be able to address before moving forward.
  11. wait - can I just restore my Mac in recovery mode? I found this : https://www.hellotech.com/guide/for/how-to-restore-from-time-machine I think that's what I want, so I think I'm gonna try it. I'll wait and see if anyone chimes in since I'm obviously in over my head
  12. What follows is probably a good description of what not to do, but we live and learn. It’s really not Logic help I need, but Mac help. I’m not on any Mac forums so I thought I’d ask here first - a place where I trust the answers It all started with David’s new book … a- Davids book asks you to reset logic’s preferences b- I wasn’t crazy about that idea so I backed up my Mac via time machine (on 7/4) so I could go back if I wanted to. c- after a day or 2 I realized that I could just create a new user acct on my Mac and go through the book there so I decide to use time machine to go back d- I’m not sure how, but somewhere I was steered towards migration assistant to get me back. I think that was a mistake e- I open migration assistant and click all the boxes to be restored f- At first things seemed to be going well. Gave an eta of 10 hrs. I checked in on it once or twice before bed and everything was moving along. g- 18 hours later I finally got back to it and it’s stalled out like you see in the pic. h- after another few hours things hadn’t changed (same number of transferred files). I figure my only option is to cancel the operation. i- the next thing the Mac does is to walk me through the setup for a new user acct. (except that it remembered it was me). First time through it hangs up on wether I want light/dark mode. I used the power button to restart. The second time through it did hang up there again, but eventually I got the user acct opened and here I am. Here’s my questions: 1- Since I had to cancel the migration assistant operation. Should I be worried about the affect this may have on my Mac or any of its files? 2- Is there something I did wrong while initiating the restore process? I was just trying to return the Mac to the state it was in on the day I did the backup (7/4) not much has changed on the Mac in that time (having thought through it a bit more I wonder if I should’ve made a “disk image” and restored from that) 3- Is it possible to use that time machine backup to get back to where I was on 7/4 or do I just need to start fresh and pull files from the backup? (There wasn’t a ton of stuff on my Mac. 600g or so ((much of it still saved in other locations)) , but all in a couple of Logic Folders and my Music media folder) 3.5- If I do need to start fresh, how should I prepare the iMac for that process? It seems like I’m already there (none of my data or settings survived, but Logic and UA drivers and software are to be there), but since it started out as a different operation … ? My theory (it’s not a great theory) is that the Mac was replacing all the files, and instead of doing that one at a time, it stated to do it on the empty drive space before it deleted any of the original files, and it hung up when it ran out of room (surprised there wasn’t a pop up that said “this install will take up ….) … I think I had about 600gb on my 1tb drive so the status bar backs up my theory. Now that I’ve got the machine running again, it shows the drive as empty (that’s not the intended result!). Admittedly, I should have spent some time learning about time machine first. I haven’t had to use the app much Thanks if you got through all of that. I’d appreciate any help or opinions I can get at this point. Mac reboot.pages
  13. So, I created a new user profile on my Mac and followed the steps outlined above and it worked fine both times I tried it. Interestingly, an AU named "Console Recall" from uad failed validation. Might be worth mentioning that I'm not using any third party AUs except for the ones that came with the interface. and the ones I had to use with for ultranova
  14. The 10.7 book instructs you to reset your Logic preferences. Could I just create a new User profile on my Mac and do the lessons in there (assuming that the preferences aren't copied over).
