  1. having done this on an old file, I hear the klopgiest and the ultrabeat that I'm using in place of the klopgiest. Both are responding to changes in the metronome settings. There is no klopgiest connected to any instrument I can find in the environment or mixer window.
  2. on the latest version of Logic as of this posting. @David Nahmani, how can this be accomplished in the current Logic Pro X version 10.7.9 > When I select the input in the environment 256(reserved) is greyed out. The other 255 instruments are available to select. Secondly, can I import the clicks and ports layer from a nother project? Will that allow me to assign an instrument input to 256? I'm assigning Ultrabeat or DMD to my replace Klopgiest in my templates but the old ones are missing the click channel. Thanks !
  3. Maybe this process would work with the $99 version of LIVE. I'd love someone to test that. I'm not upgrading Live 8 to 10 for $275 just yet.
  4. I found a solution. Live 10 can simultaneously receive MIDI clock from LUNA and transmit MTC through a third party app called LIVEMTC. (https://www.showsync.com/tools#livemtc ) Using the trial version of LIVE 10 (my live 8 couldn't run the MTC Bridge plugin. The procedure worked for me as follows 1) Open LIVE 2) Add the MTC plugin to one of Live's channels, 3) Open the MTC app so that the app and the plugin link. The plugin will display a chain icon to signal that the link from plugin to app is established. (The app creates 2 virtual MIDI channels.) 4) Open Logic then LUNA. 5) Set LUNA's MIDI Clock output to an IAC bus and enable LIVE's SYNC midi input to that same bus 6) Click the EXT button at the top left of the session view in LIVE so that it's transport slaves to LUNA's. 7) In Logic's sync input SETTING shown above, select one of the LIVE MTC app's virtual channels. Make sure Logic's fps matches the fps in the LIVE MTC app. The fps is a user selectable preference in the MTC app. I used 30fps. Logic may or may not notice any discrepancy of fps. Logic may also ask several times which fps you want. 8) BE SURE TO SET THE TEMPOS TO THE SAME SETTING IN ALL THREE APPS OR LOGIC WILL STUTTER. I was able to run all three programs with all three programs sending their audio out to my UAD Apollo for monitoring. It can take about a measure and a half ( I was running a 74bpm song ) for the sync to really lock in. So starting a couple of measures before any events is a sound practice. Finally, I routed both LIVE's and Logic's output to my UAD's virtual channels. So two channels of Logic streamed in on separate tracks and LIVE streamed in on a third track (for three separate stereo tracks of audio.) One thing I really liked was being able to disengage the external sync in LIVE. Checking or unchecking the EXT will allow you to run LIVE's transport manually and check your sync to LOGIC. So I could let LUNA go idle, while working in Logic and LIVE with Logic slaved to LIVE via the LiveMTC bridge app. Same with Logic, disabling the sync mode meant I could work independently in Logic using its transport without the CPU weight of the other apps. Then when ready, enable the syncs and stream the audio. I only tested streaming audio into LUNA but it should be simple enough to stream the audio to either of the three apps from the other two. Hope this helps.
  5. ]Here is a screenshot of the setting. Just figured out that LUNA is sending MIDI Clock and not MTC. So, I'd have to find a third party translator or something. Thanks David. You've been a huge help for many years.
  6. There is a sync setting that determines which midi ports Logics listens to for MTC. That’s what I was referring to as input busses. I did set and reset those values...but logic never responded. There isn’t any activity showing via the transport’s midi In monitor. Absolutely nothing.
  7. Sheesh. Sending MTC from LUNA via IAC Port 1. LOGIC PRO X 10.4.5 is set to MTC sync (custom mode enabled in the transport bar, sync icon turns blue) Press play in LUNA and nothing happens in Logic. I have the input busses for Logic set to IAC Port 1 as well. Live 8 receives the signal and plays very well, follows LUNA's transport perfectly. (LUNA does not have rewire) What else should I know to get Logic to hear the MTC?
  8. That would be so great. Is that possible with external midi instruments?
  9. I'm working on a 432hz project. A=432. Logic tunes in cts. My Kurzweil PC3 does also. Yet, when tuned down the same number of cts from 440 to 440 -32cts, the tuning isn't the same. Of course, what I see displayed is just a number and I can match them aurally but, which one is actually 432? What is an accurate reference for A=432? Also, when tuning a Logic project to 432 should that tune all software plugins (Logic and third party) and all external MIDI as well?
  10. Dewdman - exactly, all of the above. One of things I wanted to do was record one input and print an effect. The other is to capture two audio files from one input so that my recorded audio files would be slightly off...I know that can be done with bussing after the fact. But, I have some creative reasons I want to track and have it stored instantly in the files. One great thing about Ableton Live and Studio One is that when you are setting up a new file or creating a new routing for creative purposes, the drop down menus have audio activity meters so its easy see exactly were the audio is entering the DAW before selecting the input. I just wish it were easier to automate sequential objects in the environment. Seems like there was an "Apply serial"...or something like that which would allow for setting inputs sequentially. Maybe that was Logic 4/5 back in the day. Its been a while since I needed to be in the environment. I was hoping to avoid spending half the day setting up templates. I already have plenty of templates form Logic 6-9 and Logic ProX needs to recreate them all...sometimes this works well. I tried to create a layer of nothing but inputs..but for some odd reason Logic created new inputs and forced them into the Mixer layer. THANKS !!!
  11. Thanks David, Yes that is what I did in the screenshots above. When I double click the FLEX-created MIDI region, there is no information in the editors..in the screenshots the opened MIDI region for the created MIDI track reveals no data in the MIDI editor nor in the score. Nothing plays back regardless of instrument I send the MIdi.
  12. I have converted a mono audio track to MIDI using Flex Pitch Data. Data is visible in the arrange page's region but nothing plays on playback and no notes arein the editors. Thanks !!
  13. I am having the exact same problem. 1) create audio track 2) crate midi track from flex pitch data. 3) the new midi region is added to the arrange page and I can see that the idi data in the region matches the pitches of my audio track BUT 4)nothing plays back 5) when I double click there are no notes to be found in the midi window and 6) there are no notes on the staves of the score window. What is the disconnect between the analyzed data, the data shown clearly inthe region but not being sent to the Midi instrument or to the midi editor/score editor??
  14. I want to see all 20+ inputs of my Apollo in Logics Mixer when i press x and select the inputs tab. I know that I have to create an object for each input in the environment. Is there a way to automatically create an input for each available input on my device? Must this be done in the environment or is there a newer way to do this. I've been in Logic since Logic 4 and somethings have been updated. Thanks!
  15. Went into Preferences>Control Surfaces--Midi controllers. Looks like my Midi keyboard automatically stole a port from Motif. (I wonder how?) These issue happened regardless of the keyboard being on or not. Now I can delete the extra control surface and make sure the proper settings are there for the Axiom.
