  1. Sure. I remember this from earlier versions of Logic (I'm using Logic and its predecessors since more than 20 years, back to the old days of C64 and "Supertrack+"). With my older hardware synths, I used the GM mixer occasionally. But IMHO this should work transparently with internal synths and multi-timbral modules as well. It looks that many people get confused and frustrated by the fact they can't control volume/pan of the individual sub channels. I posted a feature proposal for adding a switch to the channel strip that makes the mixer faders ignore volume/pan messages (while the instrument still receives them): http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=19825 Hopefully a lot of people chime in. Maybe we get heard. HTH
  2. I see. IMHO this is a shame, because there are many GM and multi-timbral modules out there. I don't think loading dozens of instances of GPO/Kontakt2 is a viable solution. Loading 16 instances of each multi-timbral module is neither. BTW: The problem could be described much simpler this way: How is one supposed to use the GM Mixer (in the environment) with a channel strip that actually hosts a GM (or any multi-timbral) instrument? What is this GM Mixer object good for in the first place? A possible technical solution would be to add a switch that disables the channel strip faders to respond to MIDI contollers and send them to the hosted instrument only. But AFAIK, that switch doesn't exist. Andre
  3. Hi everyone, yes, I've seen David's multi-timbral environment template (impressive, but difficult for me to understand) and some other suggestions here already, but none of them worked out for me. I am desparately trying to do use L8 as an instrument host and mixing/recording desk for another software that plays "live" MIDI to the IAC drivers. I want to host a GM module, GPO Orchestra, NI Akoustik Piano and some AU synths. The GM module and GPO are multi-timbral. The controlling application sends volume/pan/program controls to do its mixing. Now when one of the 16 sub channels of, say, the GM module receives a volume controller, the master volume of the software instrument in the L8 mixer follows it. Regardless which channel. This makes any "remote controlled" mixing on the sub channels impossible. I tried filtering controllers with a transformer (see picture), but this also disabled them on all sub channels. Is there no way to prevent the main fader from following controllers received on all sub channels? Shouldn't there be an option to set a "Meta Channel" for mixing, as opposed to the sub channels routed to the instrument? Any help is appreciated. I struggled the whole day and am really depressed Thanks Andre This is what I tried: The transformer separates the controllers (lower) from the notes (upper) output.
