Now its completely broken - its unresponsive after launching (an empty project) and I can't do anything with it at all. Is there any way to mend it without an uninstall/re-install which will be a total pain in the butt if that has to be done.

Hi I changed a few settings in my global preferences (related to midi input) and then ever since after that when I launch Logic I get a message saying the preferences can't be loaded. To the best of my knowledge I've reverted all the changes I made but still get the message so maybe must have missed one, but if so can't remember which and so can't revert it. The message at launch is The Presences are not loaded completely Do not save them as you would overwrite the preferences files with incomplete data. I'm also having to force quit Logic quite often. On top of this, if I create a new project and save it I get an error message. And if I try to save an existing project after making a tweak I get the same error message: "Error reading/writing file "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" As you can see Logic has become totally unusable, so any assistance is greatly appreciated. (Its version 8.0.0, even though I've updated it to 8.x, can't remember which. I've noticed this behaviour of it reporting 8.0.0 as its version when its been updated before, always when it starts getting screwed up)

Have you ever tried to see if splits work Mr. V? I've tried so many things, read so many postings. I really am starting to think the only possibility is the editor software on mac doesn't work, but that seems totally unfeasible, surely somebody would have noticed by now. But I can't think what else it can be. The fact I've tried with Cubase as well as Logic and get the same results implies only two possibilities: 1) The editor software doesn't behave as its supposed to on a moc 2) I don't have the editor set up correctly to achieve what I want. But I've tried so many many tweaks to the set up I simply must have exhausted all the mathematically possibly number of permutations by now.

Hi Yes I've gone through the previous posts on that forum looking for clues but no luck. I tried to register last Thursday but it needs moderator activation, when none came I tried again on Friday, but several days later still no activation.

I've been trying for days to get my AX 50 set up for zones but with no success whatsoever and am starting to get very frustrated. I can get all 6 strings to play into a single synth, or have a separate synth triggered individually by each of the 6 strings. But I simply cannot get string splits or fret splits to work. I've read the manual forwards and backwards, and there is an example of how to set up a string split such that there are two zones - consiting of the 3 lower strings and the 3 upper strings but after following the example can't get one set of strings to trigger one soft synth and another to trigger another. No matter what I do I always get 6 strings triggering both synths. I've tried lots of combinations - directing one split to one usb port and another to another usb port, then setting up the environment so that one port maps to one channel strip and the other to the other channel strip. Or setting up one split so it only transmits on midi channel one and the other on midi channel 2 and setting the input to Logic's channel strips accordingly. Plus dozens of other myriad variations. Also I have a Logic template whereby each individual string can trigger a separate synth (channel) in Logic so I can play 6 synths individually - but if I try to change this from individual string splits to grouped string splits or fret splits it doesn't work. Could somebody who has managed to get a simple string split as I've outlined about to work, please provide a screenshot of the global and preset pages, or post a preset so I can import it. So at least I know I have the editor set up correctly as the first step. Or if you have a Logic template set up for string splits (I already have one string per channel which works however) I would be very grateful. It has got to the point I suspect a problem with the editor on a Mac - I'm running the latest from the Axon website and was totally unable despite multiple tries to update the firmware. So I tried it from a PC and it worked instantly. So I'm wondering if there is some other fundamental problem with the software on a Mac. The fact that I also have Cubase and so have tried things in there (where it handles ports more intuitively than Logic) is adding to my suspicion. Anyway if anybody has got things working wth Logic and an AX 50 I'd be so grateful for some helpers. TIA

Ah, I have Absynth, and looking at its manual it seems its possible to turn using Hz. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the input.

I didn't do the calculations myself, but I have the following information: 396 Hz = G5 + 17.6 cts 417 Hz = G#5 + 7 cts 528 Hz = C6 + 15.6 cts 639 Hz = D#6 + 46 cts 741 Hz = F#6 + 2.4 cts 852 Hz = G#6 + 44 ct As each of these is a differing cent value from a standard note, does that mean there is no solution I can apply from Logic and will have to look further into soft synth capabilities? Seeing as I presume if I set the user tuning to +15.6 it'll be okey for one nut not for all the others. Thanks for your help.

Hi I'd like to experiment composing something using a non standard scale/ notes. At frequencies 285, 396, 417, 528, 639, 741, 582 Hz. I have several soft synths and so ideally I'd like to be able to hit some keys on a midi keyboard (or even better a midi guitar) and that to trigger notes in the soft synth to be played at these frequences. To be able to do this might depend upon the soft synth itself (if anybody knows of synths allowing this could you let me know please). So iif its not possible, is it therefore possible to i.e. record a midi note at C6 and then during playback tune it up to 528 Hz for example. If I manage to succeed with the above, if I then additionally have an audio sample of a particular note, lets say C6 again, is it possible to turn up this one sample so that it fits in with the rest of the composition - so that I'm pitch shifting the track containing the sample and not the other tracks. Hi If I want to play a note on a soft synth at a specific non western standard frequency, or have a sample I want to tune to the same frequency, does Logic provide any means by which I can achieve this? As a specific concrete example lets say I want to play a pitch at 528 Hz. Thanks

Hi I've got lots and lots of AUs - soft synths and effects and have never had any problems with any of them. However I've recently downloaded a demo of Gladiator and Independence Free and have found with these two I frequently get an Unable to synchronize midi and audio, check external device error. Has anybody else noticed this with these AUs, are they placing a hugh CPU and/or ram strain compared to other things? Is there a way I can fix it, and why is the error message talking about an external device, there are no external devices? Thanks

Hi I have a midi guitar with up/down midi buttons and a midi volume control. How can I assign the up/down buttons so that I can move backwards and forwards through a soft synth's presets? Take a synth such as Albino, if I click on its preset navigation arrows it doesn't appear as a controllable parameter. This is something I could do with Cubase but have not figured out how to do it with Logic. Also how can I assign the midi volume on my guitar to function as a modulation wheel? Because the modulation wheel is something most soft synths don't seem to actually physically display and thus you can't click on it, and with a soft synth that does i.e. FM8 its the same problem as above which is if you click on it then it doesn't appear as a controllable parameter. In the bottom left is the patch section - there's a 'glass' window to display the current patch and 2 buttons to scroll through them but there's nothing to load a bank. Tried shift/control/option/command - clicking on everything in that area but no joy.

Hi, does anybody know how to load a bank of presets for V-station? It works fine with the factory presets but there's nothing in the V-station AI that I can find to load another bank and the documentation says to consult the documentation for your host sequencer on how to load them, but I can't see any way of doing that via Logic. (I can save and load presets but not banks of presets). Thanks
