  1. If I read your question correctly, here's all you have to do.... 1) make sure MainStage has "learned" the slider in the Layout Mode. 2) go to Edit Mode, select the slider in the main screen GUI. 3) Below is the Screen Control Inspector, click on "map parameter" 4) now "option click," the delay in the channel strip (MainStage now understands that the slide contains 2 states "active and bypass) -brian LogicProChicago.com MainStageTemplates.com
  2. I believe the wireless capability is a huge part of this. I have been using the original Logic Pro control surface for some time now and when I initially started using it I knew it would become an essential tool in my workflow. Working with automation and a control surface, like Logic Control, is just so intuitive. There are times though, when a lightweight portable control surface would be useful and the fact that the iPad is as much hardware as it is software makes it an exciting option. In terms of utilizing a touch based device within the arrange window, it is exciting to me. If implemented correctly it present options a control surface could not come close to. Re-arranging audio and midi regions, looping, even automation within the context of a touch based interface just seems right. just my 2 cents
  3. Looking @ all the potential options here for controlling Logic Pro via an iPad this one seems pretty exciting. Wormhole Remote It seems like a smarter version of all those basic vnc type apps out there. While I think something using an OSC based app is the way to go for custom touch control surfaces, something like Wormhole Remote looks like it be pretty good for working in the arrange window, piano roll etc. thoughts? -Brian LogicProChicago.com MainStageTemplates.com
  4. Hey just wanted to mention that if you are looking for new patches, concerts, etc for MainStage 2 I've set up a new page/forum where we take requests and put out new templates weekly. So far we've done a simple looper and another one that contains a drum machine, keys and sampler. its @ mainstagetemplates.com -Brian
  5. Strange, we're successfully using the FCB1010 for live shows with the same function working correctly. I found using http://www.wabbitwanch.com/iFCB.html gave me alot more control over the FCB1010. I don't have the FCB1010 around me right now, but when i get a chance I can tell you exactly what mine is mapped to. Hope this helps. -Brian LogicProChicago.com MainStageTemplates.com MBP 2.4, 4g Ram, MainStage 2.1, Logic 9.1, FCB1010 Axiom 61, MDP24, Firebox
  6. thanks for responding. yes, the audio channel has its own discreet output but also contains a send to a bus (which contains the loopback) . We have the FCB1010 mapped to control to amount of send and everything. Still can't figure it out. It seems that MainStage has a strange way of recording overdubs when the overdub record extends beyond the original loop recording time. -Brian LogicProChicago.com MainStageTemplates.com MBP 2.4, 4g Ram, MainStage 2.1, Logic 9.1, FCB1010 Axiom 61, MDP24, Firebox
  7. OK for those of you who have been using Loopback for live performances I have a question. I don't want to say it's a bug, but I can't figure it out. here's the short version record loop for 6 sec. hit play (to stop the recording and play the loop) Hit record again (and record for longer than the initial loop of 6 secs) Result: all overdubs are played back at half volume The initial loop sounds great, but all loops recorded thereafter are very faint, half volume. A quick way to fix this is to never have the oevrdub record past the initial recorded loop. But why? What is the reasoning behind this. I don't think its a RAM thing, becuase our Jamman pedal was recording to flash memory and didn't have this problem. here's our live setup MainStage 2.1, 10.6.2, MDP24, FCB1010, Axiom 61, FireBox, MBP 2.4 4GB
  8. have you tried using the Enigma Software to map the keyboard? Haven't used it in a while, but from what I remember I was able to assign different notes to the drum pads, different cc's etc http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=products.enigma
  9. Is it possible to use markers on playback to trigger record in/out on loopback? Possibly feature request or am I overlooking something? -Brian
  10. Just wanted to say we finally got everything set up for practice tonight and it was awesome, so much more functional and quick to setup compared to the circus tricks I would have to do with Mainstage 1. The setup is as follows:.... Mainstage 2, and Axiom 61, a MPD24 and the FCB1010 into a MBP then outputting to a Presonus Firebox (allowing us to have independent outputs for the keys, drum machine and vocals). We had vocals split in to a bus so we could control dry vs. loopback levels. No problems, zero delay upon recording (with one of the FCB1010 footpedals controlling the loop output signal level), while also had the keys recording into their own independent loopback while 2 playback plugins (one with a pre-recorded drum machine and they other with ambient sounds,) hummed along.. so all in all we successfully used 2 loopbacks and 2 playbacks set to record/ overdub for about 10 minutes without stopping or any delay after the initial loop while switching between 11 patches. I would recommend the app iFCB as it made the mapping of the FCB1010/ Mainstage super easy. Couldn't imagine how long it would have to take if I didn't have that option. oh and this is it in action from tonight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gY_Pntk4W8I -brian
  11. yeah its a bug and a really bad one at that, a literal show stopper. .... set up a playback and 1 loopback, group them, go perform of fullscreen hit record on loopback = instant crash 100% of the time. confirmed and tested on 4 machines, 2 MBP, 1 iMac and 1 Mac Pro Sadness;( as this would be a great feature.
  12. Loopback feature seems to have latency of about 1-2 second before it actually starts recording. For us this basically renders it useless. I'm assuming the loopback feature is writing straight to the RAM, this seems like it should be a non issue as we have a Jamman loop pedal that also records to flash memory without any latency.... This is what I have tried thus far.... upgraded to MS 2.0.1 i/o buffer set to 64 turned off airport turned off "put HD's to sleep when not in use," made sure nothing else was running. What am I missing? Someone please enlighten me with a software magic trick!

  14. There's a bunch of things I love about Logic 9 like flex audio, but the bugs like with the esx24 keeps me from jumping in 100%. My question is, is anyone using both logic pro 8 and 9 on the same machine and if so is there anything i should look out for? -b
