  1. F**KING SWEET. I always wanted a glass armonica sample set. Thanks for the tip!
  2. Try reinstalling your audio drivers too. The audio prefs communicate with the drivers, so any miscommunication could possibly result in a crash. For instance, if Logic queries the sample rate and buffer size of the driver, and it doesn't respond correctly, a crash would most likely occur.
  3. Also, you can't use sample accurate plugin automation, at lease IME. Every session I tried with sample accurate plugin automation enabled resulted in a disconnect fro the node upon the first automation point. Just adding to the brainstorm.
  4. The 'frontrow.app' that you see in your applications is not an app at all. It's just an alias to the app which is located in /System/Library/CoreServices/Frontrow.app You would have to remove it from there. It sounds like you are using Time machine, which means you can pretty much remove the file without worry because you can always restore it later. Good Luck, Brian
  5. Including QTP 7 is simply a transitional step. Once the new player is fully developed, we will see 7 disappear. It doesn't even come preinstalled unless you upgrade and had QTP on the computer prior to the update. Quicktime X is designed to support apple's new core technologies and should boost performance on every machine. Remember that QT was never really designed for the intel architecture. It was made to take advantage of the PPC architecture. Now, with the PPC-intel transition all but complete, starting a fresh code base with code that plays better with modern hardware and performs better in Snow Leopard is a no brainer.
  6. just group the tracks and start automating. make sure to include the desired parameters in the group settings dialog.
  7. I think the point of X is to begin a new. The features will come, but the quicktime framework is getting old. It's very powerful, but old. I think X is all new codebase, built for modern codecs. Give it time, and install QT7 Pro for the time being.
  8. I love my asp008. It's clean, and sounds great. I use it on drums, guitars, and vocals. It's a good, solid unit with a very neutral sound. I don't have the adat card, but I think that it allows for s/mux output at 88.2/96k (it uses 2 adat outputs at 4 channels each), so you might need to hook up both of your rme adat inputs to the 008 if you plan to work above 48k.
  9. I need to own one of those tee shirts... Absolutely love it...

  11. All this tech, but for simplicity, just connect spdif to your interface, set the audio settings on your dvd player to pcm and your set to go. You can also use the toslink out from the dvd to the mac's internal sound card. Or the analog out for that matter. The advantage to this method is that it will wind up as an uncompressed aif or wav (or caf file) instead of a compressed file that your computer extracted for "archival" purposes. You could use hijack I suppose, but it's not any easier than just recording it.
  12. I think the simplest way is to just plug the audio outs from your dvd player to the input of your interface... Press record. Peace, Brian
  13. Oh man, I am so glad to hear you say that... well, not glad... well... anyway, this is one of the reasons I can't use Logic when a client is around. Here's one: IS UNDO FIXED? Also, do flattened comps retain track names?
  14. David, I appreciate your response... I just gotta say, that sucks. I was really having problems getting on with Logic 8 and just bought Nuendo 4 with the expansion kit. It was a HUGE investment. I can't afford another platform switch. I just wish the version of Logic I have worked right all of the time. This is kind of an insult that we are forced to upgrade just to get bug fixes. Plus, we don't even know which bugs they fixed and if any new bugs have been created. Please tell me there is version information available as to known issues, fixes since last update, etc. I am enjoying Nuendo and not really looking to switch back, but I do still use Logic. It hurts even more now that Logic is a secondary app and I still have to pay for bug fixes. I mean some people CAN'T upgrade! Where does this leave PPC users in terms of a last surviving stable logic? Way to go out with a bang... Oh and yeah, parts of Logic 9 are like cheating, and it does accurately represent the most requested features. I won't even go into what this correlation means to the music business and music in general... (this isn't logic's fault or anything, just technology in general.)
