  1. Is it good to install Logic onto a external HD and then run it off of that drive? This is just to save space for my internal HD.
  2. I am looking at purchasing a unibody MBP 13.3" It is the 2.53GHz model with 4GB of ram and a 250GB HD. I am just wondering what the performance of this machine would be running Logic Pro 7 (I currently own only Logic Pro 7). Also, would Logic Pro 7 perform better in this machine, or would Logic Pro 9 or Logic Express 9 run better? Is the new Logic optimized better for these intel computers?
  3. Hi, I'm just wondering about the differences between Logic Pro 8 and Logic Express 8. Is it really worth the extra money? I rarely have ever used the many gigabits of sound clips in the library of my Logic Pro 7. I tend to create all of my music on my own with my own instruments, and with the help of the software instrument plugins for midi input. I'm thinking that the full Logic PRO 8 version with all the extras installed might bog down my computer performance; and since I never have used many of these extra features, I'm starting to think that 200 is better than 500 dollars. What are your opinions on maybe what would be missing if I got Logic Express vs getting Logic Pro. Most of my music I'm thinking will be recorded with live gear (amps, mics, etc). So I will probably use Logic as more of a final mixer/master tool for my recordings rather than using it to drive the actual sound of my instruments. edit: I still want all of the mixing plugins for mastering my final product. If Logic Express is missing any of these, Please let me know... that is very important.
  4. I'm just wondering what are some good brands for USB interfaces for recording into garageband/logic. I've already used and owned one from M-Audio. But I'm looking for something with better quality. Specifics: - It has to be able to record 24bit at 192khz. - Price is not an issue. - Number of channels doesn't matter as much... but 8 would be nice.
  5. which external drive would you recommend, and would firewire be the best or would USB or ethernet etc. be better???
  6. I'm looking at upgrading my Logic software as I have Logic 7.2.3 and I bought it with the educational discount. So, my question is can I upgrade to Logic Studio by just buying the $199 CAN upgrade, or do I have to buy the entire Logic Studio for $499 CAN. It doesn't say that you can't anywhere on the Apple website. Also, this is a bit interesting...it specifically says that Final Cut Studio Academic buyers can't upgrade to Final Cut Studio 2 for the upgrade price...and I don't see that anywhere for Logic Studio. Help please.
  7. I record directly to the internal 250 gb HD and I always leave the buffer set to large at all times. The messages pop up usually when I record more than 30 secs of audio with a few plug-ins ie: a guitar with guitar amp pro. Should I try recording without any plug-ins and then add them later? I really like the iMac, but I would really like to have portability, so would a mabook be good enough, or would I need a macbook pro?
  8. I have a 20" iMac 2.0 Ghz G5 with 1.5 gigs of ram and I run Logic 7 with all the software upgrades Apple has issued. I have major problems with recording, it keeps popping up those dang system overload/ disk to slow messages. Is there something I can do to optimize my system better or do I just need to upgrade to a new computer...in these songs I tend to have roughly 20-30 tracks and 10-20 buses. Any suggestions??
  9. Here's some guitar settings that work nicely together when they're panned to opposite speakers. Lead Guitar Left.cst Lead Guitar Right.cst
