  1. Hi Forum, I've gotten some odd behavior bouncing tracks in 7.2.3 on both an Intel iMac and a dual-proc G5, both running 10.4.9. Listening to the song pre-Bounce, the high end is nice and airy. Post-Bounce yields a somewhat muffled overall sound, plus a reduced stereo field. I've made sure there's nothing inserted on the playback channel. Is this pilot error? Has anyone else experienced different post-Bounce sound quality? Thanks for any thoughts.
  2. Continuing to try and resolve this xskey 5.5.1 problem. On a Dell Dimension 9150 (XP Pro 4GB) I've tried a powered USB hub, a PCI USB card, a USB to PS2 converter, numerous keyboards, all onboard USB ports with no joy. We're about to throw a clone together so Logic 5.5.1 can be run in-house. LogicPro 7.2.1 is happily running on an Intel 20" iMac, but the PC version is needed for a variety of game-building applets. And the ongoing question is if this xskey recognition problem is Dell-centric. I hope someone else can confirm this behavior on their PC and possibly have a solution. Thanks for any wisdom/results. Andyr
  3. Hi Forum, I run the latest version of Logic Pro 7 and LP 5.5.1 at my home studio on a Dual Proc G5 and and an Athlon 1.4 GHz PC, switching the xs key as needed between the boxes. At work, I'm primarily using a 20" Intel iMac with LP7, but I'd like to also be able to edit on a PC there. I brought in my home studio xs key to run LP 5.5.1 at work on a Dell Dimension 9150 (as there is apparently no way to add LP 5.5.1 to the xs key at work). This PC has only USB ports, no PS2. When launching LP on the PC I get an error msg saying that multiple xs keys have been found and to quit the program. Tried using a usb hub and also a pci usb card, both without success. The Sonikmatter forum suggested using a PS2 keyboard and mouse, but obviously there are no ports on the Dell. Has anyone in this forum had this problem? I'm willing to transport the dongle to and from the work studio, but this looks like a PS2-enabled PC is going to be necessary. Thanks for any thoughts on this.
  4. Quick update (and hopefully finale): AppleCare benchtested the G5 with a high degree of stress-testing and found that it was bad ram. I'm waiting on the arrival of the replacement chips (4 GB total) with moderately crossed fingers, but the AppleCare tech said that after they swapped in their own known good ram, the heat and crashing problems went away. Thanks for the diagnostic help and I'll post again about this only if troubles persist.
  5. Hi G-Dub, The fans are definitely not spinning hard (apart from the single-user test). And the machine passed the hardware tests on the install disk (ran them all). Also ran fsck while in single-user and that came up ok. Disk Utility reported a verified drive and permissions have been ok. I ran the install disk hardware test recently after the problem started, but not after wiping the drive and re-installing apps and OS. I'll give it another try with this new load. Thanks for helping address this prob.
  6. Thanks for the reply, but the problem is not due to an enclosed space. The area is well-ventilated. Checked all visible fans last night while in single-user mode and they were appropriately vigorous. Thought it might be a fan on the Radeon 9600, but there's only finned heat sinks there. I've tried several Viewsonic VGA monitors and they all have gone dark when Logic crashes, so it's probably not a defective monitor. I'll keep trying and I appreciate any input. Thanks, Andy
  7. Hi Forum, I'm running into high temperatures of 140 degrees on a G5 dual proc 2.0GHz w/OS X 10.4.5 and Logic Pro 7.1.1. Logic has been crashing after 3-4 hrs when running 4 to 5 plug-ins of various kinds, some intensive like Space Designer, others just a single-line vintage synth. The crashes haven't allowed a force-quit of Logic and (often have disabled both keyboard and monitor) and I've had to power cycle the machine. Is the 140 temp the culprit? I removed both an Mbox 1 and Pro Tools 7 which were on the system also. And removed a Dr.Bott 7-port usb hub. Nothing in the system now apart from a 2-port midi interface, mouse/keyboard and the XS key. Running a 1-note midi file with no plug-ins hasn't crashed the program, but also hasn't raised the temperature siginificantly. Thanks for any thoughts on this.
