  1. Hello, In the Key Command window, Logic X gives you the option to 'Toggle Hide Group' in the Main Window Tracks section. It gives you the ability to assign Key commands for Hide Groups from Groups 1-9. I usually have more than 9 groups so was looking if anybody knew a way where i could add a key command for 'Toggle Hide Group' Group 10, 11 and so on? Given that Logic automatically has it available for Groups 1-9, I'd like to think that it is possible but i just don't know how. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
  2. Hello, I'm looking for 1 or 2 answers that cover the same topic so any help would be much appreciated. 1. Can you assign a Key command to jump to a particular track in your template in the main window? E.g, when i press, 'L' or some other key on the typing keyboard, Logic will highlight track 5 every time i touch this key. and also... 2. Can I use an external midi interface to trigger a track selection? (not scrolling up or down but just selecting the same track every time) E.g, I press the C6 key of my midi controller keyboard and track 5 is selected every time in the Logic main window. The reason I ask 2 different questions is that I think there may be overlap in setting up one to trigger the other but it would be very helpful to know if these 2 are independently possible within Logic for the simple purpose of selecting a specific non-changing track. Thanks for reading this and it would be great if anybody could shine a light on an answer
  3. HI Andy, Have you tried loading up LP9 in 32-bit mode first and scanning and then closing and reopening in 64-bit? This has worked for me on a number of occasions. Just incase you've not done it before, right click on the icon in the application folder, click on properties/info and select 32-bit mode. Hope that helps. Paul
  4. Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me on this one? Backdrop: In the main arrange window of Logic X, when you select a track, that track will be highlighted in all other windows in it's different formats-i.e, when selecting a synth bass track on channel 28 in the arrange window, if you have another window open with the mixer in view, channel 28 will be displayed automatically when you select the track in the arrange window. This basically is Logic synchronising the 2 windows. The same happens when you have the mixer open in a new window, and select a track from that window. As soon as you do that, the corresponding track in the arrange window is highlighted. Question: My question is that in the Environment, in the Layer: All Objects, when a track is selected in the main arrange window, the corresponding track is highlighted in this window. However, when I click on one of these tracks in this Environment window, it does not highlight the track in the arrange window which is unlike the way the mixer in a new window seems to be able to control track selection when it is selected. What I am looking for is either a tweak or a solution of how to make selecting a track in the Environment All Objects layer display the selected track in the main arrange window. I'm not sure if this is easy or not but it works with new windows with the mixer being able to control track selection and both are synchronised so that linking does exist and in the All Objects layer of the Environment, when a track is selected in the main arrange window, it is highlighted in this window. I'd just like to find a way of having the command being able to go the other way as well so that in that Environment layer, when i highlight a track, the corresponding track will be selected in the main arrange window. I'd appreciate any help/advice you guys could give. I know this may seem a bizarre question but for what I'm building it could be great if it works so any help would be fantastic. Many thanks, Paul
  5. Hello, I was wondering if somebody from the forum could solve this conundrum i've been thinking about... I have a logic x template with over 400 tracks-its an Orchestral-based template for film scoring running VE Pro and I'm loving the power but not the scrolling. I have 2 monitors and I was looking to keep the 1st for the Main Logic display. However, for the second display, I was hoping to use the space to display columns of track names so when I click on one of them, the corresponding track on the main Logic window is activated. A very basic way I've come up with is to load up the main logic window on monitor 1 and on monitor 2, load up a second full logic window, then manually drag the right hand side over to the left as far as it will go and not display the library or information displays on the left hand side. This gives me when minimised, the ability to display over 75 tracks vertically. However, it also has to show the arrange window and I can't just have the track list by itself. So the question...Does anyone know of a method/environment/template that will allow me to do this? I've uploaded a picture of the basic mockup design of what I'm looking for the 2nd monitor to be able to show. The problem with it is that when I click it, it also shows the arrange page for that window and it visually moves on top of the other instrument list. Also, when one instrument is selected, the other sections move to that instrument which is not what i'm looking for. Any suggestions with creative mixer or environment display workarounds would be greatly appreciated. Also, I am using folder stacks as well and this makes working on one screen a little less tedious with over 400 tracks but I have a second monitor and would be nice to use it for this to speed up my workflow. Many thanks, Paul Attempt to display something like what I'm looking for
  6. Thanks Ski, Good to know! I was just wondering does the complexity of the setup come with the number of tracks or the amount of mute groups needed. Also, does the fact that because you are muting auxes mean there should be no problem with held notes if you mute mid sustain because it is audio? Trying to get my head round it
  7. Thanks Ski, Have continued this on your MuteGroopz post!
  8. Right, Thanks for that Ski! The above looks amazing and works really well - i've tried it and all appears to just work off the bat. Ideally i'm looking to try and make this work as you mentioned Orchestrally with probably East West running Play and Stylus with Auxes as seperate tracks as the output for all audio which can then be muted/unmuted. A few questions therefore for the environment Don; 1. Can aux tracks be muted in the same way as midi tracks (e.g i want to be able to load up a multi instrument but use auxes as the outputs so i can seperate the multi into 8, in the case of Play, seperate audio tracks. 2. Can the Keyboard letter commands be transfered to a Midi controller where instead of pushing a button in the environment, you can push a physical button on the hardware Midi controller? 3. Can Logic load up unlimited auxes? (i.e over 100?) 4. Do the MuteGroopz work the same on Logic 8? Thanks once again and it would be great to know the answer to those questions.
  9. My word Ski - you sure do know your enviroment programming. Can't wait to see what else you can do with this. It's great that the combined muting works the same way as the single muting. Would be great to see you develop this more. Again, thanks so much for taking the time
  10. Hi Ski, Thanks so much for that - it looks great and totaly what i was looking for. It seems like it's exactly the sort of thing i was looking for. I'd really appreciate it if you could delve more into it if you can. I'd be very interested to see if there are any tempremental issues say with muting something mid-stream when a note is being played or how long the delay is when actually triggering the multiple mute button. I'd say at the moment i'm more concearned about making all work in the environment and it looks like what you've figured out is bar far the most intuative way of doing it. It really would be great if you could develop it if you think it could do with that and i'd be really keen to see what you come up with. Thanks Ski!
  11. Hey Ski, Thanks for getting involved! Here's a more detailed example of what i'm looking to do; In Logic arrange window, let's say i have 32 tracks. 1-16 Kontakt2 17-21 EXS24 instruments 22 External MIdi instrument 23 EastWest Play 24-32 Stylus RMX I've picked the above because as it stands, i'm wanting to mute the actual channels - the blue 'm' on the strip. I know that with the single instruments, this is fine to do but with multis such as Kontakt and Stylus, when i press the 'm' button, all 16/8 channels are muted and not single tracks which i specify and the only way round it is pressing the red 'm' button within Kontakt. Anyway, i'd like to assign a midi controller button/ key letter on the keyboard to mute the individual channels for example on 2,5,17 and 25 with a press on the button. Then proceed to assign further buttons to control different colletive mutings. Ideally, i'd like the elements to be muted as quickly as possible - i know we'd only be talking fractions of a difference but what's more important is that the effect of this would be stable and long notes that would be held whilst the muting occurs do not continuously hold and never release. Otherwise, i'd guess this could be a button assignment in the environment but i'm in your hands now Ski as i've got no idea how it works 'under the bonnet' Thanks I
  12. Hello, Here's what i want to do; I'm looking to be able to press a key on the keyboard, midi controller etc... and that key will trigger logic to mute certain selected tracks which i will pre-programme. Ideally, i would be able to programme different keys/triggers to control different selections of channels to mute. This will act similar to a key command but wil control muting multiple channels. It would presumably be done in the Environment. Example, pressing letter 'k' on the keyboard will mute channels 1,2 and 5 but pressing letter 'j' on the keyboard will mute channels 3,6 and 7. Here's the problem; I've got no idea how to do this and could really do with some advice. I know of touch tracks and other nuances within Logic but do'nt know which way to proceed. It was my understanding that touch tracks deal with regions and not whole tracks so it would be great to know how to solve this puzzle. Thanks
