  1. Does the newer “Adapt Tempo” features work on MIDI regions or just audio. (Away from my Mac and can’t check) 🤔
  2. I use the Mac OS zoom feature too. I just got a 27-inch 4K monitor (which is great!), but even at 27”, at full resolution I can’t read or see most menu text. Using the zoom lets me keep full resolution, but quickly zoom in with the track pad when the menu items are just too small for these aging eyes. 😂
  3. I have Garritan Jazz & Big Band. I purchased the Garritan ‘Ultimate Collection’ years ago and load each individually in Plogue Sforzando. Done several mock-ups that way and it’s not bad. When Apple introduced the Studio Horns I just use them now because they have soooo many useful articulations. The only limit is that you have to use some external processing to emulate different mutes. I made a Big Band template of the included Studio Horns (4 Trumpets, 4Trombones, 5 saxes + rtm section) if you’re interested. 👍
  4. These are great articles and very helpful!!! Thanks David. 🙏
  5. I second Atlas007’s recommendation. Peter Schwartz’ MacProVideo Score Editor is excellent! Doug Zanger does an extensive overview in 3 parts from Groove3, but Peter’s (Ski’s) is concise, broad and at times funny. 🤣
  6. Just reported on the LPX feedback link and posted at the Apple LPX forum. 🫡
  7. I've now tried this several times... Only importing certain things and not others. Always results in the new Regions imported being unable to be displayed individually in the Score Editor (No vertical or simultaneously played Regions on separate tracks and no consecutive Regions on the same track). Even a new project that correctly displays regions in the score editor as was previously available in the score editor (in 'Content' mode displaying selected regions and only showing regions that correspond to the current 'Score Set' when chosen) imported regions from other projects (regardless of HOW they're imported) will not show simultaneously! Must be tied directly to the MIDI region somehow. Hmm... I've been working in scores and it's such a pain not to be able to reference more than one region at a time in the score editor. I prefer reading written music when writing parts and counterpoint to piano-roll for many reasons. I'll look on the boards for the link to report bug behavior in Logic directly to the Apple developer team.
  8. This answer to a post from May seems to answer question that I've been having regarding how Logic's Controller Assignments are handled regarding Smart Controls. From messing around I've found that the Controller Assignments Advanced View window labels what the Smart Control is assigned to (directly from smart controls), and sequentially as "Smart Control 1...2...3" when assigned too a blank (Not tied to channel-strip or plugin parameters) Smart Control. Question 1: Does the Controller Assignments system regarding Smart Controls distinguish between continuous controls (knobs/sliders/faders/encoders) and toggled or momentary controls like buttons? Question 2: How many Smart Controls (and how many continuous vs. buttons) are possible. Question 3: How does Logic distribute these external Smart Control assignments when opening up new or existing patches. i.e. If there are 8 knobs and 8 buttons on the Smart Control window, does it automatically assign "Smart Controls 1-8" to the knobs and assign "Smart Control 16-24" or something like that to buttons??? 🧐
  9. I downloaded a demo version of Dorico just to get the Petaluma music font. Afterwards, I decided that I liked Sigler 'Jazz' better. 😜 Petaluma seems too "fat" with normal sized staffs. I do however LOVE the Petaluma text fonts for score text instructions! 😎
  10. I was watching some “Rip-N-Mix” demos on YouTube and was amazed how good that stuff has gotten in just a few years! 😳🤯
  11. Glad to hear that it’s working. @simoncroft suggested in his book to trash your old controller assignments preferences file and start fresh, then back it up regularly. It sounds like he’s gone through the pain of Logic Controller Assignments spontaneously changing themselves too.
  12. AI Music Composition is still in its infancy. The Google Magenta tools take more input and editing time than the quality of what they produce warrants. I was hoping to find an AI melody (MIDI) generator to use as a kind of ear-training device (select a scale/key, select minimum and maximum value of notes, amount of rests, amount of chromaticism etc.) and then have it play back ever longer melodic segments to mimic on your instrument. (Nothing currently available looked very promising). I was hoping someone who knows Java Script could program it into the MIDI Scripter plugin… any takers? 🙏🤑🤪
  13. @Atlas007 Yes, AFAIK from trial and error and some info from @simoncroft, the external assignments to Smart Controls are actually handled through Logic’s Controller Assignment window/system. I’m not sure if SC are automatically created in ‘No Zone’, but it seems possible to have traditional controller assignments -AND- a Zone (or at least a Mode) exclusively for SCs that responds to the same external controller assignments when a particular patch is in a selected channel strip. 😀
  14. @simoncroft Would you suggest creating a ‘Zone’ or a ‘Mode’ for Smart Controls? 🤔 I posted in another thread here: I asked; “Does anyone know how many possible continuous (Knob, Slider or Fader) and how many momentary or latching (buttons or switches) are available with Smart Controls??? Without getting into the new ‘tabbed’ SC layouts, most SC windows seem to max out at 12 knobs+12 buttons. Could I create a SC ‘Zone’ with 16 continuous controls and 16 buttons that would automatically work with whatever SC I call up with a patch?” It seems like SCs would map Knob/Slider #1-16 on my MIDI Controller to corresponding knobs/sliders #1-16 on the SC window (and the same with the buttons) which in turn work whatever they’re assigned to
