  1. Works fine for me. Download the latest drivers from m-audio, use the uninstaller to remove everything and then re-install again.
  2. Well I was thinking of the buttons and all, but if it really isn't that big of a difference then it doesn't really matter I guess. I'm just curious to see if Apple's heading to a Soundtrack like interface with Logic. Anyway, how is performance on it?
  3. Can you post some screenshots? Also, I just uninstalled Logic because it was simply running too slow and the time stretching algorithms were not cutting it. There are two new ones added, do they do any better work? I might just run by the Apple store and pick up an update if that's the case.

    Logic Pro 7.2

I just would like to see audio warp and some innovative way of getting rid of background noise. I hate recording a whole track of guitar and having a few beats off and having to re-record again. I dont' like Logic's method of doing things right now I think audio-warp would make life so much easier for people like me. Also, I'm not set up in a studio and it would be nice to have the ability to get rid of background noise. My music is generally VERY quiet and the fan on my laptop is always in the background. Since I don't have the resources to get rid of the sound while recording, it would be nice to have it done post-recording. I'm not a professional by any means by the way, I'm a musician who wants to record nice clean sound, that's really about it. Logic is tough to use.
  5. What a great tip. I had no idea you could do this. PS, on my setup this only works with Command and not Option. I'm running it on a PowerBook.
  6. I already have this actually and use it all the time but I'm wondering how you are making this happen in the first place. I have 60 something songs already recorded and I don't really want to move each one to a new environment.
  7. For example, I have Master Outputs 1&2, 3&4, 5&6. Is there a way to get my song to output simultaneously through 1&2 and 3&4? I don't know anything about routing but basically I'd like to be able to send the signal going to 1&2 to 3&4 at the same time. Thanks Mohannad
  8. OK so here is something you can do. Make sure your FW410 is already plugged in. 1. Go to Applications/Utilities and open up Audio MIDI Setup 2. When that opens, in the menu click on Open Aggregate Device Editor 3. Click on the "+" sign and name the aggregate device whatever you want. Mine is called Logic, since I use it in Logic 4. On the bottom half, there should be a list with all your audio interfaces, I have the same setup as you so mine has Built-In Audio and FW410. Click the check boxes next to them, now they are both under one aggregate device and Logic can recognize both of them as one audio card. 5. Startup Logic and under the Audio menu there is "Audio Hardware & Drivers" 6. Go to that and under Driver choose your aggregate device, whatever you decided to call it. 7. Now here you will have to see how the aggregate device setup your inputs and outputs. But if you notice, you should now have 2 more outputs channels available to you, those two extra ones are your built-in audio channels, left and right. Hope this helps, if you have any more questions let me know.
  9. He has a different input source than an output source. Aggregate devices allows you to use two separate devices as one, without it he has to choose between either his FW410 or his internal audio card. Basically if he chooses his internal audio card as his driver then he can't input through the audio ports of FW410 and vise versa. Unless I'm missing something, aggregate devices will be the answer. You could also just keep switching drivers from FW410 to Internal Audio but that means you can't use both at the same time, which is what I described above.
  10. Not a step by step tutorial but if you have OS X 10.4 you can setup aggregate devices. Let me know what version of OS X you have.
  11. A simple google search pulls this up. http://www.digitalproducer.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=31353
  12. If you want to delete automation points, just click on them and hit the delete button. Pretty straight forward. As far as curves, which version of Logic are you using? In Express (I don't know about Pro) there is a curve tool, so you draw the points first and then you curve the line. It is kind of a pain if you ask me. I think Apple should just have it where we draw a point and then while holding down option you can curve the the line. Makes life much easier. Also, if you want to delete all automation data for the track, there is a menu option that allows you to do that. You'll have to go looking for it though. I'm still learning myself, Logic is very deep and in my opinion kind of unintuitive and hard to learn. I still love it though.
  13. That really depends on what you'd be doing with it. Personally I run it on my G4 867 PowerBook. For the most part it is fine but every once in a while I get to a point where I really need something more powerful. If you really want a smooth experience, a G5 would be a good way to go, although for future versions, I'm willing to bet that an Intel based Mac will be even a better way to go. Myself I'm going to wait for an Intel based one to be released before upgrading my hardware. Till then, Logic for the most part runs just fine. Personally I rarely use any MIDI stuff, I mostly just record audio and clean it up. I'm not a fan of effects or anything of the like. My stuff is generally very mellow and very straight forward, kind of like Nick Drake, Duncan Sheik, some of Jeff Buckley's stuff... etc.
  14. This one took me a while to figure out when I first started with Logic. 1. In the Environment, select New/Audio Object 2. Double click the newly created Audio Object. It should turn it into a fader 3. On the left, in the parameters, change the Channel option from Off to whatever number track you want it to be. So 33 I guess if you're already at 32. See if this works for you.
  15. If that's what is happening I would highly consider Disk Warrior. If the drive is being recognized by the system but the Finder is not mounting it then something is up with the structure tree it seems. I would consider three possibilities. 1. If you have not restarted your computer at all since this happened I would consider doing that right now and then seeing if the hard drive will mount. 2. If that doesn't work, open up Disk Utility and see if it finds the hard drive. If it does, try to manually mount it by selecting it and then going under one of the menus and clicking mount. If that doesn't work, see if you can repair the drive using Disk Utility. 3. If neither of these two work, I would consider purchasing Disk Warrior and seeing if that would be able to fix the drive's problems. 4. As a last resort I would buy a second firewire enclosure to test it out. 5. If the data is really critical, you can go to any place that restores data from hard drives, but that is a VERY expensive option. Well I guess that's 5 possibilities but hopefully these will be of help to you. I can't think of anything else to do in this matter, except re-record your music. Ouch! My philosophy is to always have two hard drives with the exact same data (backup), so in case one fails I will be able to replace the data. This is why I always save everything on my PowerBook and then once a week I copy all my home directory over to my external HD.
