  1. Really sounds to me like MainStage isn't causing the crashes but it's something else to do with your system.

    I/O Labels?

No problem. The manuals for a lot of software products today can tend to be tricky for no apparent reason.

    I/O Labels?

    MainStage menu, Preferences, I/O Labels…
  4. If you get an FCB1010, you really should consider the UnO EPROM for it....this makes a lot of things much simpler, plus you get a bunch of extra functionality. With this being said, I haven't used my FCB1010 for years (only because it's a heavy and bulky piece of gear that I don't want to shlep around) and I also haven't tried the FBV3. However, when I used to use the FCB1010 with UnO, it was a fantastic addition to my rig.
  5. Nope, definitely no MainStage for iPad. And MainStage hasn’t been included with Logic for many years.
  6. I’ve been using MainStage since v1.0 and whilst it had tended to be up and down in terms of bugs and performance with different versions, I’ve never experienced or heard of the issues you’ve described. Are you absolutely sure that your cables, hub etc are 100% reliable? Please note that I’m not a MS fanboy trying to irrationally deflect criticism away from MS; it’s just that in my experience, something like you’ve described has often eventually been a difficult-to-diagnose hardware issue. As an example, this happened to me i.e. I was experiencing an intermittent pitch control problem that I blamed on MS. I eventually (after about 8 months of massive frustration) discovered that my pitchbend wheel WAS faulty but only under certain conditions that were impossible to predict. My recommendation would be to tripe-check all of your hardware connections, and even try different USB ports on your Mac. Glitchy USB ports - even on brand-new machines - isn’t an unknown problem, either. Which version of MS are you using? I’m accessing this forum on my phone and can’t see if you’ve included this info in your sig.
  7. Well, to be fair, you never mentioned that you didn’t want to use a pedalboard. Plenty of guitarists use MS because they prefer having an all-in-one system, or prefer the FX etc. And a page turner pedal with just 2 switches is a heck of a lot smaller and lighter than most single guitar pedals, let alone a pedalboard. Regardless, perhaps you might want to dip your feet into scripter, or maybe Ableton Live might be a better solution for your needs. At the end of the day, MS is fantastic for a lot of things but anything beyond basic backing track playback definitely isn’t a core feature.
  8. Any foot pedal with program change or even a page turner pedal would do the job.
  9. MS won’t automatically change patches for you unless you program Scripter to design your own automation linked to the audio file in the Playback plugin….and this definitely isn’t straightforward at all. However, if you still want to pursue this, search the forum because there’s at least one lengthy thread about it. Your best option is to set up those songs with patch changes where the song is a set, and your song sections are patches. You’d put the Playback plugin with backing track at set level so it won’t be affected by patch changes within the set.
  10. Sorry Atlas007, no there isn’t.
  11. I’ve been using the MIDI Designer Pro iOS/iPadOS app for years as a remote for MainStage….it’s brilliant.
  12. I’m coming in at the very end of this thread and haven’t read anything else, but regarding this last comment, there’s a MainStage setting to change the patch numbering i.e. 0-127 or 1-128
  13. New Features and enhancements Stompboxes from the Pedalboard plug-in may now be inserted as individual plug-ins. Stability and reliability Resolves an issue where MainStage could quit unexpectedly when stepping through patches. Fixes an issue where MainStage could quit unexpectedly when using Undo after pasting a channel strip as alias and then performing Convert Alias to Original. Channel Strips Area The Channel Strips Area now reliably displays channel strips when selecting patches. Resolves an issue that stopped the Up/Down arrow keys from navigating plug-in insert slots on channel strips. Values for bypassed sends that are not mapped to a control are now reliably maintained when loading a saved concert. Aux busses no longer sometimes appear to be missing after copying a patch and then deleting the copy. Resolves an issue in which saving a concert might cause the Output 1-2 channel strip to split into two mono channel strips with their gain set to the minimum value. The main volume slider no longer reverts to its previous value if it is adjusted and then the background of the Channel Strips Area is clicked. Adjusting the input gain of an audio device on one channel now immediately updates the displayed input value on other channel strips that use the same input. Fixes an issue which blocked adding more than 5 bus sends per channel strip. Clicking on a layer of the keyboard object in the Workspace now selects the layer's corresponding channel strip. The channel strip configuration option to display more than one line in the channel strip name now works as expected. The Metronome now continues to output sound when a new channel strip is created. Workspace Fixes an issue where the up and down arrows used to edit values for Saved, Range Minimum and Range Maximum in the Screen Control Inspector were unresponsive. Fixes an issue which blocked the solo button from being mapped to a screen control. The plug-in bypass control on channel strip insert slots for MIDI effects, software instruments or audio effects can now be used to map a screen control to a plug-in bypass parameter. Mappings for controls on Concert-level Aux sends are now retained when a new channel strip is loaded. Fixes an issue which caused Concert level Saved Value settings not to load the correct values. The Layer Editor now displays channel strip names correctly when the Channel Strips Area is configured to show multiple lines of text for channel strip names. Switching to a different screen control no longer disables the Map Parameter or Assign and Map buttons. The Open Plug-in command in the Workspace contextual menu is no longer dimmed when there is a plug-in associated with the mapping of the control that is being clicked. Resolves an issue which ignored MIDI input when using the "Assign & Map” function. Sound Library The patches 80s Bitrate Synth, 80s Chime Vibe, and 80s Signature Keyboard now sound correct when played in MainStage. The Sound Library Manager window now closes as expected when Cancel is pressed while downloading additional content. Ultrabeat samples that have been moved from the default install location can now be found and loaded. Plug-ins Resolves an issue where the Studio Strings instrument might exhibit hanging notes after being played for a while. Fixes an issue that stopped the Drive Mode I / II parameter in Vintage Electric Piano from being changed. Smart Controls The correct curve for Scale Parameter for the Low smart control in the graph is now displayed. MIDI clock MIDI Clock Start and Stop commands now work as expected. MainStage no longer sends an unexpectedly large number of MIDI clock events after a MIDI Clock start command is sent. General The Advanced Settings window within the Audio Settings can now be closed after clicking the OK button. The setting Pickup for the “Respond to Hardware Move” concert setting now uses the saved value for the control rather than the current value for the Screen Control. Changes to an a controller assignment in the Assignments and Mapping tab now update reliably. Resolves an issue in which switching the Audio Input Device and then closing MainStage could cause a new concert created from the Keyboards > Alchemy template to load with Chorus plug-in unexpectedly inserted in the channel input slots.
  14. The ceiling is adaptive. Don’t worry about it.
  15. Oh, and also make sure that WiFi and/or Bluetooth is turned off if you’re not using these.
