  1. I dunno, mmm42. Just did a session today, recording 3 mics at a time, 24 bit 44.1, buffer at 64 while recording, overdubing 3 tracks as well for harmony takes and the thing performed like a rockstar. Kensington USB stick ftw. Can send it to you if you wanna hear it, gangsta.
  2. It works! Thanks for the help. BTW, haven't been on the forum in a while. Can we update our profiles anymore?
  3. Thanks, trip. I'll try that. Yeah, I have plenty of externals, fish. Just trying to go minimal for onsite recordings. I have half a mind to get that internal solid state replacement for the DVD drive that OWC has. I'll try that reformatting trick.
  4. Hey folks. Has anyone had any luck recording audio to a USB thumb drive? Or perhaps the SD card reader on the Macbook Pro? I'm trying to eliminate the need for carrying around noisy externals to my recording gigs. So, I got a wild hair and decided to try recording to my 16 gig usb stick. I'm on Logic 8.0.2 and when I try to record audio to the disc I get the beach ball. Force-quitting Logic still leaves the beach ball because Finder is on the fritz. Any insite?
  5. Saw the article in the new SOS plugging the books. Great spot David! It has been a while since I've been in the forum here (staying busy recording!) but I'm using what I've learned regularly. Grats on the success. Best, John K
  6. It has been a while and admittedly I've procrastinated like a mother-hubbard, but I've cleaned up the site and put up some new audio files. Thanks to all who offered critiques. The site will keep evolving, but for now it is fulfilling it's purpose. I'm starting to look into how to make it more search engine friendly, but don't hold your breath waiting for that post. Thanks again all. Check out the sites new shave and haircut! humbugmobilerecording.com
  7. Liking the sound quality I'd assume as well. How would it compare to say, GML pres in front of apogee converters?
  8. Just one more thought. I can't help but wonder if those alien models were leftovers from Peter Jacksons work on the Halo movie. They look an awful lot like the Covenant Elites.... Hmmm.... http://tce-clan.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/white-elite.jpg
  9. The lady and I are planning on seeing it Saturday. Is it just me or is Peter Jackson shockingly skinny now? http://www-images.theonering.net/torwp/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/peter-jackson2.jpg vs. http://www.famousmii.com/mii/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/jackson-peter-photo-peter-jackson-6207017.jpg wow.
  10. Sorry chap. It is like pulling teeth trying to copy and paste links on a blackberry. Maybe one of our fellow logic pro helpers could post those for you if you ask nicely.
  11. Logic has pretty usable presets (settings in the compressor and eqs) that are pretty good starting points. Load up a channel eq, for example, and click on the preset button at the top of the plugin window. Same for the compressor. Don't just stop there though. Look at how the logic programers set up the eq for vocals. You'll see that they boosted some high frequencies and cut out some low ones. That's because high frequencies give presence and some low-mid ranges add too much muddiness. Keep at it. You'll get it. And +1 for the tweakheadz stuff. Fun read and helpful.
  12. We're looking for well-polished, original beats. It would be a plus (but not a necessity) if you have an ear for hispanic rhythm and sound. I'm developing a couple of young rappers, one of which is notably talented, and want to collaborate on a weekly basis with someone who can 'add what's missing' to the beats we use and contribute original quality beats from scratch. We work in an openly creative but respect driven environment. The goal is not so much to make a quick buck, as all involved up to this point are donating time, energy, and equipment use. But rather we're looking to put together original, quality work, create a stir in the local community, and grow together as artists. P.M. me to find out more if you're interested.
  13. I just make a stereo input in logic and assign the input to the motu channel named mix 1-2. So it kind of acts as one of the preamp ins in practical terms except instead of the motu sending the input of a preamp it sends a mix of all the pres. Make sense? I have a way with words...(or a lack thereof rather)
