  1. .. wow, and i hope you´re right. my impression is that they have 1 or 2 people working on Logic half a day, with one of them only working on new apple loops. sure, that´s cynism, but that´s the way it seems to me. i just wonder what these people were and are doing the whole day since years? putte Hey, Putte, Maybe you could head over to the Hamburg suburbs and hang out in bars there to find some of these 75 developers and give us a report.
  2. My iTunes library tells me that these are my top electronic acts from the last couple of years (in play count and rating). Future Sound of London Adham Shaikh Bill Laswell I-F Booka Shade Meat Beat Manifesto Amon Tobin System 7 They can all be found on eMusic.
  3. The Ultralite has received great reviews. Some people are reporting some issues with the IO26 (bigbluelounge.com) on some Macs. Mackie Satellite has gone down to $200! If you don't need a lot of simultaneous inputs, it could be what you need. I cannot vouch for it and haven't found many user reports.
  4. Perhaps you could install the software and find out! I imagine you will have to freeze a lot. Use Activity Monitor to kill hidden aps like printer drivers.
  5. Maybe you should wait, save some more money, and see what happens with the next version of Logic. Some of its features may depend on Leopard (OS X 10.5) and/or Intel. As far as processing is concerned, you might even be fine with a MacBook or a Mac mini. You could put the hard drives in enclosures or sell them and buy a big new one. I am not sure about other limitations, but if you are not concerned about the Pro plugins, perhaps you could get by with Logic Express.
  6. I can run Logic 6 on my 667 powerbook with only 512 mb of ram. I would not want to do it all the time, but it is possible to get things done with frequent freezing. I use Activity Monitor to turn off unnecessary background aps that sit on RAM and sometimes use the CPU.
  7. It is already possible to switch keyboards on Mac Book Pros, but you have to open things up and mess around. Although I am not sure how practical a mini piano keyboard would be, people who deal with multiple languages might find it handy. I would like to be able to hot swap Japanese and US keyboards, but I would probably not do it often. Seems like a touch screen interface ala Lemur would be even better for music applications.
  8. http://www.pianoteq.com/ Apparently not yet convincing to most pianists, but interesting if you want tweaked pianos. I suspect that Logic 8 might include a dedicated piano and/or strings plugin since they would fill out Logic's sound palette.
  9. Do you think 64-bit capability is going to make any difference in using the next version of Logic or OSX for audio? In Japan the 2.16 Core Duo 17" MBP is being sold for US$2000, so I am thinking about picking one up.
  10. I still don't own an iPod and I'm not sure this is going to make me buy one, though I am more motivated by this. I might give $10 (or more) to a similar charity if I don't get it.
  11. Welcome to Logic Pro Help! You may want to look for forums for Cubase and Motif and try your question there... 8)
  12. Maybe the keyboard is wearing out or faulty? I just got a new wireless keyboard courtesy of AppleCare because so many of the keys were sticking or frequently non-responsive. Yes, AppleCare covers your original keyboard and mouse.
  13. I bought Logic 6 and the seller sent an email to eMagic when they were still handling that. They basically said, "okay." Maybe Apple is handling it more formally now. We'll see if I run into any trouble when I upgrade.
  14. Sounds good. Have you got the 2 Random discs? There are 4 covers of the song on there!
  15. I don't think they'll let the ppc people down yet. I can buy a quad core G5 n the Apple store TODAY, and would be very, very upset if the next big Logic wouldn't run. I'd give it a year or 3 before they go intel only. I think it will run on any Mac processor, but, like Tiger, it will work, in theory, on other Intel processors because [speculation] it will be capable of running independently of its OS....
