  1. Looks very good - MusicXML import at last!
  2. I was running Logic X on a 2008 iMac without problems, so trying it on your MacBook is a good idea. I really like Logic X but beware of the things that have gone missing, such as the chord track. To be fair though Apple are making regular updates.
  3. Jordi, Thanks - I'd forgotten about that, it could be the answer. Update: the plugin works really well, so thanks again. Chris
  4. I've been experimenting today and found that if I disconnect the Duet FW and use the built-in audio, I don't get crackling when playing back the macProVideo tutorials or stuttering in Logic. However I've also found that if I use Firefox instead of Safari, I can use the Duet without any problems with video playback or with Logic. Puzzling.
  5. Thanks for the replies - I am intending to upgrade the RAM as soon as possible (getting the base MBP took all my funds). Looking at the other thread has made me think it's worth unplugging the Duet and seeing what it's like with the built-in audio.
  6. Since getting a new MacBook Pro recently, I've had a few occasions where Logic Pro X has started stuttering on playback and in some cases freezing the Mac completely. This is with very small projects with 3 or 4 instrument tracks (from the Logic library), each with several plugins. I think I've isolated the problem to when I'm watching tutorials on the macProVideo web player via Safari, and in fact the tutorial sound does crackle a bit if Logic is open (though not playing back). Is this a likely cause of the problem, and is there a solution? I've been using my iPad for the tutorials today, and so far no problems with Logic, though it is more useful to be able to do everything on the MacBook. I've updated to the latest drivers for the Duet. Chris
  7. Hi Jay, I just replied to your post on the LUG forum, but here it is again (if I understand you correctly):- You can click and drag on the Piano Roll tab, or type CMD+4.
  8. I agree that it would be nice for Logic to have a public ambassador, like DP's Dave Roberts or the departed, lamented Daniel Spreadbury for Sibelius. But Apple just isn't that sort of company, which is a shame in some ways.
  9. Thanks, that worked! I decided to create a ~/Music/Audio Music Apps/Samples folder to keep things tidy and Logic found the samples without problems. best regards Chris
  10. Happy Boxing Day! I've got a new MacBook Pro and have installed the factory contact for Logic Pro X without problems. However, EXS24 isn't seeing my user libraries - instruments or samples. I followed the folder structure I used before, instruments under ~/Library/Application Support/Logic/Sample Instruments and samples under ~/Library/Application Support/Logic, but the libraries aren't showing in the EXS24 menu. I'm probably missing a crucial step, can anybody help please? Chris
  11. A very impressive list of updates - reassuring as well
  12. I got VA-1 years ago as part of a Modelling Collection deal, and have just always liked the sound. It's also an easy synth to use and program. There are maybe better synths out there but UA works for me. Chris
  13. Thanks for the heads up - these are just what I've been looking for
  14. Thanks, I do have version 1 so have gone ahead with the upgrade as it's such a good price.
  15. I see AAS have just released Ultra Analog VA-2, and it's 64-bit! It's available for $29 until Nov 3rd, not sure if this just for existing users though.
