  1. Don't know about using a PC, but on most any Mac, regardless of old or new, bare minimum is 16gb, but that'll choke depending on sizes of samples, plugi-in use, etc. Generally, 32Gb works well to around 30 tracks of orchestral samples from Spitfire Audio and others, multiple reverbs and plugins on channels, but 64Gbs is a better choice. It's my understanding that the unified memory on Mac M1 and M2 can do a lot more so pals of mine are doing fine on M1s with with less Ram than they used to use. Search YouTube for discussions of the M1/M2 with Logic for some tests and advice.
  2. I recently had a similar problem. Here are some suggestions. #1 Check in Logic to see BIPs are in the project's Browser folder. Audition them inside the project's Browser to see they play back and are correctly linked to the project. #2 Check the Audio folder of the project on the drive where the project is located. See that all expected audio is there and plays back in finder or QuickTime to ensure they're not corrupted. If not, find the original Audio folder and copy all audio files to the new Audio folder location. If corrupted (doubtful), you'll need to rebuild the BIPs. #3 My problem arose after I moved a project to a different folder on a drive. No audio from channels with Melodyne on them played back. Open Melodyne in the project on any channel using it. If the files Melodyne created aren't linked incorrectly they'll show in red. Click on the gear symbol and reset the path (link) to the files. Hope something in all that helps.
  3. Hey Atlas007, thanks for the thought. That didn't fix it, but I finally figured it out. All audio files in the project had been tuned and otherwise adjusted using Melodyne. When I opened the Melodyne plugin on a track, all associated audio files showed in red (see Image#1). Above the list is a text line about FIle Paths with a widget at the end that opens. Clicking on that opens a dropdown box that allows you to "Set path for transfers"of the related files (see IMage #2). Bingo and Voila! All's well.
  4. The most recent version of a project suddenly won't play back the audio files which are visible in the File Browser in the project, but the audio files do play back when auditioned in the File Browser. How can I reconnect them or otherwise fix that? All audio is in the Audio Folder of the project. All play back fine in Finder The problem seems to have started after I moved the project and all subsidiary folders to a new folder on the same drive
  5. Pardon me for not explaining what I did to resolve. I thought it was probably my unique mess and of little interest to others. A I remember, I went through every Logic dialogue/page where any of this info was listed and deleted duplicate or erroneous entries. Dialogue/Pages to check include: Preferences/Midi/Inputs File/Project Settings/Midi Window/Open Environment/Clicks & Ports and Mdi Instr. Also check for errors/duplicates in your Audio/Midi Setup/Midi Studio. I hope that's some help.
  6. David, in case there's some confusion, I've gotten my template and environment worked out. User SM254 is apparently asking about his own issue. For me, this matter is resolved.
  7. Gacki, thanks for thinking this through. I'm stumped. David usually has some wizardry to solve messes like this. I'm sure I've just done something stupid. Thanks again for your help.
  8. Thanks David, Here are the Library and Audio/Midi Setup. In the Library, I notice Kurz Micro Piano, Octapad, and U220 show no channels when I select either of them. Oasys correctly shows 16 channels as do all Midi Timepiece ports listed.
  9. I posted pics of my environment, etc. I know you're busy valiantly saving so many Logic users from difficulties, but if you get a chance, I'd really appreciate your advice.
  10. Go to Logic Preferences/Plug-in Manager and see if Kontakt and your sound libraries are installed and if so, is are the checkboxes in the USE column checked. If not, reinstall whatever's missing.
  11. Thanks for the help. External Plugin screen shot shows double dashes as Midi Destination for what should be Port 1 of my MTPAV and labelled "Oasys." As it now comes up, it also shows only "All" for available channels on that instrument/port. The other instruments show 16 selectable channels. Environment Instruments screen shot shows the Oasys on port 1 with 16 channels available and my Octapad on port 2. These are my only midi input devices. Click & Ports shot shows everything correctly Oasys port1, Ocatpad port 2, Kurz MicroPiano port 3, and Roland U220 on port 4 (the last two kept for old and archived tracks). Although I am not running system-wide sync at the moment, all gear set to "internal," the Midi Sync shot seems to be incorrect. Shouldn't the list displayed match the External Instrument port list? Really appreciate you taking a look.
  12. After years working with my system, External Instrument plugin appears to have issues. Midi Destinations shows only two dashes for the first port on my MOTU MTPAV. The other ports show correctly as named and identified in Audio/Midi setup. The first port used to correctly show it is identified as Oasys and that port, of course, is connected to my Oasys. When a project loads, it will sound recorded midi tracks through the Oasys, but strangely, the External Instrument plugin shows it's playing through a Midi Destination identified as my Octapad which is connected to Port #2 on the MTPAV. It will record midi from Oasys and play it back, but if I change the midi destination to the two dashes that seem to identify MTPAV port 1, playback fails and switching back to Octapad on Port 2 then also fails. I'm stumped. Any advice?
  13. Thanks very much, I'll give it a shot. I don't understand why frame rate default is 25fps--a most peculiar rate if that's intended to help with film or video. Film, of course, runs at 24fps, sometimes 30 if intended to transfer to video. Video in the US normally runs at 29.77 drop or non-drop frame. Obviously, there are other frame rate standards in use for web, large format cinema, HD video, and foreign, both lower and higher fps, but 29.77 is the basic US broadcast standard. So, why 25fps for Logic? 25fps is primarily used for TV in the UK and other countries on a 50Hz power standard.
  14. This has never happened until the last couple months, but now after I play a project a couple times, make some edits, etc., it drops sync and crackles playback. If I go into Preferences/Audio and reset my output device, it works again for a while, but then drops sync again. All my projects are at 24bit/48k. My normal sync settings are below: I also get this notice at different places in different projects, and although I've gone through every track, midi and audio, to se if there's a glitch of some kind, I can't find anything.
