The drag&Drop preset means that you will only hear your sample, unaffected by filters, envelopes, etc. and without oscillators 1 and 3. Of course you can load anything you like into osc 2 for any preset, but you need to be aware of all the other synthesis settings in that voice preset that will impact that sound.
You can also drag & drop .ubs files from the Finder on to osc 2's loader, but you lose the advantage of quick listen and previewing the samples in the UB voice.
Sorry to bring back an old thread, but i've just been re-learning some of the more indepth features of UB. I didn't know that UBS files were specific files that may be layered etc etc (now i understand why one 'sample' was >4 mb. ) anyways... lately I have bee using the 'import' button at the top to find samples fast... I would load up some of the drum banks... ie "acoustic hi-hats" and then find a sample... but I wanted to import the folder of .ubs files called "snare acoustic" which is full of .ubs files. I can't do that. Is there any way to do that so that I can quickly import and browse multiple samples of just snares instead of having to go to the individual voices, select "load sample" and then preview the sounds? I figure that if I bounced each individual file to a .wav file than I would lose the 'layer' function in UB (which I don't know much about anyways)
hopefully this makes sense, once again I apologize for bringing this thread back from the dead.
