  1. This is is utter nonsense - An myth that gets passed around internet forums. If a mastering engineer needs more "headroom to work with" he will attenuate the signal accordingly. The actual reason for avoiding 0dBfs is a precaution against intersample peaks that may not be indicated by your digital peak meters. No other reason. If you wish to learn more about intersample peaks, this is the standard reference {dead link removed by admin}.
  2. Please explain your reasons for this ridiculous statement.
  3. You will never acheive sample-accurate sync with MTC alone, but this may not be important to you. Why not try it and see if it is satisfactory for your needs? In which case don't worry. Yes Word Clock is a timing reference for digital audio devices.
  4. Logic 8 will not sync to midi clock, so you can forget that. It will sync to MTC, which as you know, does not contain tempo data. The usual problem people have with syncing to MTC is Logic seeing the incoming MTC but not playing. This is usually because new Logic songs have a default start time of 1:00:00 and the master device is transmitting MTC from 00:00:00. Ensure that both start times match. You should also use wordclock sync or expect drift if using MTC alone. I'm sure you have your own reasons for working this way, but it seems a convoluted way of going about things. Surely it would be more effective to work entirely in one DAW? Or at least export/import audio files from Cubase to Logic?

    Waveburner Help

It's because Waveburner operates at 44.1kHz, and you are playing back through your Digi 002 at 48kHz. If you set your Digi 002 to 44.1kHz all will be well. And consider working at 44.1kHz for future projects (unless you do a lot of TV work). 48kHz is a pain for this very reason.

The "mysterious gain" issue is probably due to your Pan Law settings on your "Finals" session.
  7. Yeah, use Configure Track Header to get rid of those stupid icons for starters. Also remove the buttons that you're not using. Eg. You don't need Record or Input Monitor if you're mixing.
  8. Oh no, not this again... Use your pan pots.
  9. This issue comes up time and again, and is usually due to Sound Enhancer or Sound Check being enabled in iTunes.
  10. Check your sync settings. The fact that it jumps to bar 6822 would suggest the song is trying to sync to an external source. Also, the session you posted has Auto Sync enabled, whereas new songs generally don't, which would explain why you don't have the problem with new songs.
  11. Or use your Triton in multitimbral mode. Something else to read up...
  12. 1. Select regions and export as new audio files: Audio > Convert regions to New Audio Files 2. Import the new audio files to iTunes or other mp3 encoder. 3. Convert to mp3.
  13. Well personally I have been doing online collaborations for several years and find stems and submixes to be the most painfree method. Keep it simple. If they are just adding a guitar part, they don't need the whole Logic session. Just send a stereo backing track, or a few stems. This also ensures cross-platform integration and quicker up/downloads. And don't waste your time with OMS. It never works smoothly.
