  1. Sweetwater publishes compatibility information for releases of new Mac OSs. A list of companies that provide hardware and software are included. I consult this source, as well as doing searches and visiting vendor sites, before doing an OS upgrade. As of this post, the information was last updated on October 16, 2023. I have not upgraded to Sonoma yet, my research is still in progress, which is why I am reading this thread. I am adding a link to the Sweetwater page for your convenience. 2. Isn't there a setting regarding the width of the strips (wide/narrow)? I have a vague recollection of this. You can't drag the cursor to widen them. It's obvious when increasing/decreasing the height of the window and losing features, but I don't think that helps the width of the strips. But you could try it. Sorry if I am way off on this, but perhaps it will induce a solution.
  3. Yeah, I am holding out before upgrading to Ventura. It seems too early and compatible plugins and such are still catching up. It seems whenever I upgrade there are at least one or two Logic Pro-related issues become a problem. After my last upgrade the audio interface would not work. I'm beginning to think it may better to always stay one OS upgrade behind; by the time everything is working Apple releases the next version.
  4. I seem to recall the plugin I chose is not compatible with Ventura yet. I am running Monterey.
  5. For one thing, and it was rather strange, the description said HG2-MS was discontinued. It also said it was a subscription, which I definitely did not want. I listened to the audio sample comparisons, and the features for HG2, and it seems adequate for my needs. 🙂
  6. I am so pleased with a new plugin that I wanted to share my experience. I purchased Black Box from Plugin Alliance. It was on sale for $29.99. Description: "The emulation of sweet tubes and creamy-sounding transformers not only make tracks sound richer and fuller, they also make them sound louder, bigger and punchier at the same peak level." It did not disappoint. I have tried other plugins to emulate that vintage warm and saturated sound of analog. They always sound like imitations and not the real thing. I would say Black Box does an excellent job. As a test, I applied a mastering preset on the Output 1-2 channel. Wow! Saturation and sparkle. I will be getting a lot of use from this plugin. 7. 1. I went back to Plugin Alliance and the $29.99 sale price for Black Box was still there. So I purchased it. 2. It is amazing. As a test I placed the plugin on Output 1-2 and chose one of the mastering presets. My goodness, what a beautiful sound. Warmth and sparkle. I'm going to get a lot of use from this plugin.
  8. This is helpful. I could have purchased the Black Box for $29.99. But the sale is over now. I'll get on their mailing list and wait for another sale. Thanks for verifying that it is the bundles that are subscription; I was hoping that was the case.
  9. I went to Plug-In Alliance the other day to check out the sale. I found a plug-in I liked (Black Box) but it said, "Cloud-based online service." I searched and could not find out what that meant. I did not want to purchase a product that required a subscription to use, so I passed on the sale.
  10. When turning off a folder/stack I know all the tracks within will not playback. But I have a question about the subsequent use of processing power. It is my understanding that muting a track may silence it, however Logic still processes the playback of track, including plugins and effects. So, the best method of eliminating the use of processing power is to turn the track off. Correct? I was wondering, if a folder/stack is turned off are all the tracks in the folder turned off, or are they muted, in which case Logic would still be processing them even though they are silent?
  11. The following may not be quite the issue it used to be, considering the processing power available now. Keep in mind adding effects as you go also adds more demand of the processing power of the computer. This may even create more issues when recording new tracks since often the buffering setting is changed, and is different, than what is used for mixing. If you find that Logic is stuttering, stopping, or crashing it could be your tracks and effects are requiring too much processing to continue. You can keep an eye on the processing being used on the meter in toolbar. Remedies include bouncing tracks and turning off the originals or freezing the tracks. Further research will give you the advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I like to do some modifications while I am building tracks, even if I plan to change or tweak them later. I find it difficult to work with dry tracks even though I am still building the basics of the recording. If the processing load becomes high I will bounce tracks and turn off the originals. If I recall correctly, I picked up that practice from David Nahmani.
  12. I seem to recall if you have pan automation on your track and also have the output directed to an auxiliary channel where the pan is fixed, Logic will use the latter for result output. I may be totally off on this, but it came immediately to mind when I read the post.
  13. Related to the topic, I used to use a keyboard shortcut to zoom incrementally–horizontally or vertically–the track window. Something like Command-Arrow key. I tried it recently and it did not work (I may have used the wrong shortcut keys and need to try again). Perhaps there is another key command for this than what I wrote here? I would rather avoid having to drag the sliders on the toolbar.
  14. Named according to work flow. Good idea. I have done something like that before, but I can see how you are doing it is more informative than my method. I have used numbering as well, but that is not informative enough. Great to get suggestions. Before I start remixing the tracks I found I am going to try the File Menu>Revert To and see if I can find a version of my project that includes the editing I had done.
  15. To David Nahmani If you are saving (Save As?) a copy of your LogicPro file every 20 minutes don't you wind up with hundreds of copies by the time you complete your project? Also, I was wondering how you are naming the files, something as simple as numbering each version?
