  1. Hey folks, I have a very simple setup, and I'm trying to do something I'm sure is pretty fundamental. My setup: iMac Logic Pro X MOTO 828 mkII Mackie active monitors headphones plugged into 828 condensor mic plugged into 828 What I'm trying to do: Setup a mix for record mode, that only feeds the headphones (so the monitors are silent while recording vocals). Do I do this within the MOTO software? Thanks for helping with what I'm sure is a elementary question.
  2. Using the 'Download Additional Content' from the Logic Pro menu I've downloaded and installed Garageband Content. It appears to have installed but did not replace the missing files in the Sample Files folder. For example, there still is no Glockenspiel folder in the Sample Files folder. Where did the installation puts all the files, if not there? What are the chances that upgrading to Logic X would resolve this issue? Maybe it's time I do that, anyways.
  3. J - I'm sorry. I didn't follow your path correctly. Anyways, no, there is not a folder for the Glockenspiel audio files in Sampler Files. What do you recommend doing to retrieve those files? Keep in mind there are A LOT of missing instruments. I appreciate your help.
  4. Yes, the EXS24 file is in that location. What's missing, however, are the audio files associated with the instrument. Where should those be?
  5. I know this is a known issue but, for some reason, the fixes which work for others are not working for me. I am running Logic Pro 9.1.8. Earlier this year I migrated from a Mac Pro to a 2012 iMac. Slowly, over time, loading an EXS24 instrument would result in Logic not finding the files. It was only the occasional preset at first but now many presets do not load. From what I've read online, there seems to be an issue for people who used migrated to a new machine. Files got lost in the shuffle, or something. I've tried downloading and re-installing the Jam Packs which, I think, contain the EXS24 instrument presets I'm missing (mostly Orchestral presets). No effect. I've done this both from within Logic and also from a download link provided in other forums. I've tried re-indexing (via Spotlight) my Macintosh HD. I've tried using the Refresh Library command at the bottom on the right-hand Library window. In some cases, I can find (via Finder) to the .exs file but not the audio files. However, I can't be certain that the audio files are somewhere else that I (and Logic) can't see. Apple Loops are not affected. Any thoughts? Thank you!!! Darren
  6. When an OMF is imported from Final Cut into Logic Pro the audio is split onto two tracks. Does anybody have a useful way of working with these? Or better yet - a way to convert the split mono files to stereo and appear on a single track?
  7. 8.0.2 does open faster on Leopard. For me, at least.
  8. To my knowledge there are no means of adjusting Freeze settings. And for good reason: there is no need to. Are you confusing Bouncing and Freezing? There are plenty of encoding options available for Bouncing, which I think is what you're actually looking for. ~Darren
  9. Is there a way to create a second 'master' output that could be sent to send to a different pair of outputs on my 828, so that I can reference my mix on a second pair of speakers? There has to be a better way than manually Selecting All channel strips in the Environment window and then changing the output to different outs on my 828 (which go to the 2nd speakers). Thanks!
  10. I have been given a MBox2 with Pro Tools LE 6.8.1. I am thinking of installing it on my Logic machine, just brush up on my Pro Tools chops. But not at the risk of breaking screwing up Logic in some way! Is there any obvious danger in installing Pro Tools LE and MBox2 on my Logic computer? Also, can I install JUST the LE software and use my existing MOTU 828 MKII (instead of the MBox2)? PPC Dual 2.0 OS 10.4.11 2 GB RAM Thanks for the tips!
  11. I've figured out... though bebop, this may not help your situation. For me, I have to switch the output of the track the region is on. For some reason if my output is set to anything besides MAIN 1-2 on my MOTU 828, Logic creates a silent Apple Loop. Changing my output from 3-4 to 1-2 does the trick. Lame, but this is how it works. This pertains to creating the Apple Loop inside of Logic, not using Apple Loops Utility.
  12. Has anybody else had problems with Logic creating blank Apple Loops files? Here's what I'm doing: 1. Starting with an empty Project, I import an AIF of a 4 measure beat. I want to turn this into an Apple Loop so it can be used at other tempos. 2. Using the 'Adjust Tempo using Region Length and Locators' I set the Projects tempo to perfectly match the loop. 3. With the audio region highlighted I select Region>Add to Apple Loops Library. Here I name it, select Loop button and adjust the Scale, Genre and Descriptors to to best describe this 4 measure drum loop. And finally hit Create. 4. A progress Bar appears - 'Adding Loops to Library.' It places the file in /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/User Loops/SingleFiles. But the resulting file is blank. Empty. I verify this by opening the file in Soundtrack Pro. Logic has just created an Apple Loop that doesn't have any audio. So, I try another way (same first 2 steps): 1. Starting with an empty Project, I import an AIF of a 4 measure beat. I want to turn this into an Apple Loop so it can be used at other tempos. 2. Using the 'Adjust Tempo using Region Length and Locators' I set the Projects tempo to perfectly match the loop. 3. With the audio region highlighted, THIS time I select Audio>Open in Apple Loops Utility, which opens the separate ALU application. I select Looping as the File Type and adjust the various descriptors. Hit Save. This converts the audio file to an audible Apple Loop, but does not add it to the Apple Loop Library. Meaning, the original AIF on my desktop is now an Apple Loop, it does not create a NEW file in my Apple Loop library. Ii must manually drag it to the library. Ultimately, this method works. But what I am here to ask is why, using the first method of selecting Region>Add to Apple Loops Library, why does Logic create a blank file?
  13. If no region is selected then 'Select All Following' uses the playhead instead. I've been using it this way since Logic 4, though it rarely behaves correctly which is why I am raising the question. I should really be worried about more important issues, like why my CPU meter is frequeltly in the red since upgrading to version 8, but this is just one of those little 'why doesn't this work?' peaves of mine.
  14. Thanks for that, but that only selects the content of one track. I am trying to get all the regions beyond the playhead on ALL tracks to be selected, preferably using the 'Select All Following" command.
