  1. I've encountered problems involving long file names - in earlier versions than Logic 9.1 the exs24 sampler can stumble over long sample file names..and it creates the same problem you've described. Sadly the only solutions are to upgrade Logic, or rename all the samples and rebuild the exs file Might not be this though!
  2. Can't give a definite solution, but I've had something similar with strange pops appearing on audio tracks that I'm certain did not happen during recording - ie they somehow happen afterwards, usually right on a barline/join between samples. I just do either a tiny fade-out over a fraction of a second to nuke it, or redraw the waveform to get rid of the blob in it. If it's not the same thing you have though I've got no idea sorry!
  3. it's pretty funny what you can find on there - I know of someone paying somebody else to argue with their wife on their behalf via email to save them the bother I've used it for getting instrument samples which can be quite cool.
  4. another option of course is to go on a site like fiverr.com and pay someone to do it for you : )
  5. well it only takes a few seconds to make an instrument that way - and you'll need to do a few clicks to select the instrument when you want to use it: so I'd say to just make them as you need them. One at a time, as you need them takes barely any effort I don't know of a way to automate making them all like that - perhaps keymap pro would do that?? But it's expensive...
  6. Yeah East West are good, I went budget and got the Garritan orchestra which is a bit hit and miss (some of the brass doesn't do it for me) , but great for the price.
  7. I think exs24 is probably a little old fashioned, but I prefer the ease of working with it, even though it can be a bit clunky. Kontakt looks more slick, but is less friendly to me...I don't feel at ease messing with it.
  8. You tried my old friend the "Refresh menu" option in the exs24 sampler? Samples in the wrong place should still show up as "external" instruments at the bottom of the instrument menu. Other than that, then n6smith's suggestion about spotlight is probably the best bet.
  9. Is the exs file still there, and have you refreshed the menu (sorry if you've already checked these things!)?
  10. Sounds like you are loading stuff from the editor page - is that right? Otherwise the instrument may have its settings saved - you can recall default settings in the options page - took a screenshot here http://exs24samples.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/options1.png If it's neither of those...sorry no idea
  11. No not seen that - mine just jumps to 100% at stalls there, so sorry, no idea about that!
  12. I've never managed to get rid of the cpu overloads, despite trying everything I've read! That is my one single gripe about Logic - they seem silent on this issue and it seems to have affected almost everyone for ages.
  13. ok best I can find just now is to go into "options" on the top far right of the exs24 sampler interface and click on preferences, find "Search sample on" and select "all volumes" and it should pick them up. Intriguing problem this one....
  14. Once you've moved them, open up the exs24 sampler, hit the bit above the cutoff knob and select "refresh menu" and after a moment you should see them now appearing at the bottom of the menu under the heading "external". Let me know if this works for you! ***ARGH I just tried this and it DIDN'T work - I could swear it used to - so I'm going to do some experimenting and get back to you****
  15. Hey - I might be totally wrong on this but two things seem possible to me: You might be rendering without the compression somehow, and without that pushing things down, the volume jumps up and it distorts....or You are compressing the sound very low, then normalising when you render and then when you drag the rendered track back in it's a lot louder and blasted to bits... Both of these would be a bit unusual...but they came to mind!
