Ok so I guess there a difference between AUTOPUNCH and set punch in:out by locator playhead . I thought they were the same ! In any case I set auto punch to be shown on modes and functions and then unchecked it/disabled it and my issues of not being able to record went away !!! Thank you David !!!

I’m kind of new to amp sims but I’m wondering if there is an impulse responder plugin that someone can recommend for IR’s for guitar . Free or inexpensive . Thank you

I will try letting the entire length of the song go in record mode…try to record ….although yes the record button flashes on and off and ….the playhead doesn’t jump but it goes along normally . Record Never goes solid …

So far I’ve done that . Made sure the control bat had selected the auto punch feature visible so I could turn it off and on . I also went into the control bar a few times …took it off …put it back …the way it behaves is like it’s still active …oddly enough it’s doing the opposite and only recording when it’s active …. I also have checked that the marquee has not even the smallest section selected . A few times I noticed that I had record enables a midi track by accident …i made sure to deselect and select only the track I was recording on … I’ll look over the whole session again and look through each track slowly but I really think I’ve done all this ….strange for sure

Playhead moves . Auto punch for sure off . This all happened after I did an auto punch successfully . Then I turned it off . I kept checking to make sure it was off . I noticed the record button would flash on and off while the playhead was moving …like somehow stuck in auto punch mode but no auto punch set anymore …the only thing to be able to record was to actually set auto punch ??

I have a song im working on. I recorded some guitars …set punch in and out everything was fine . I went to record another guitar track and no matter what nothing would record. Not a second guitar track and not even a midi instrument . After looking for hours for a possible setting I might have touched I gave up . I tried other songs /sessions not the same issue .I also tried saving the “song as “… the next day I decided to try one last thing which was to set the entire song length as a punch in /out (highlighted in red)….low and behold I can record . I tried to record without the punch in /out again (red highlighted) …no luck … Any idea what happened or could be happening ? I made sure no little punch in /out section was highlighted in red that I couldn’t se by zooming in weird….looked at settings a million times …

solved...little finicky the error message disappeared after I dragged it to the desktop

Should I just forget about the past version of my os ? or can anyone think of another solution … .I do have a usb drive I can use but it’s not bootable or formatted the same way as the solid state clone drive ….I was thinking I could take the older usb drive and format it like the bootable copy I have …….copy the contents to that usb drive …..then back up the latest system os/partition that solid state drive ….and have two versions bootable ? I have no idea if that would even work . I have superduper …. backed up version I currently have on the solid state non partitioned drive is Catalina ….I know want both a bootable version of that plus a bootable version I’m currently on which is Monterey ? Can anyone offer any advice on keeping clones ….should I just keep the latest clone that works ? Thank you

Well I didn’t partition my external ssd hardrive when I made my clone from the last version Catalina to Monterey and logic etc. all seems ok now so I’m ready to make a new back up clone . if I do I’ll lose my old previous clone (no partition ) using superduper. do you keep many different version clones or just the last one that worked out ? External ssds aren’t cheap lol…of course I could have partitioned but didn’t …duh
