  1. I've been a logic user for many years and just upgraded to the latest Logic X from LP9 and i am getting some pretty bizarre behavior. I have midi and audio regions in a project and while recording on one track, either audio or midi, and with no other track armed, i get a midi region recording on a different audio track. how can that even happen? also it erases the previous recorded audio material even though i do not have logic recording in replace mode. the midi region is filled with controller 15 info, breath control, so i thought maybe my keyboard controller was sending the info, so i unplugged it, but logic is still receiving it from somewhere. my only fix has been to filter controller info in my record midi settings. so my question is, how do i stop recording midi data over audio regions? what would cause this to happen? thanks
  2. I have a song that someone gave me to work on, midi only, that was recored in 6/8 time at 106 bpm. The song should be in 4/4 at 54 bpm (the guy was plying 8th note triplets on the hi hat so he put it in 6/8) is there a command to fix this? I seem to remember doing this years ago but I cant remember if it can be done in Logic. I cant remember what to call it, so if anyone cant point me in the right direction i would appreciate it Thanks
  3. Yes I just upgraded to this Mac Pro and used migration assistant also. At least now we know what causes this. I wonder how many other files were duplicated throughout the system?
  4. OK stupid me. They are just channel strip settings. so I went to Library>Application Support>Logic>Channel Strip Settings>Instrument, and there are all the folders and there are 2 of each. I deleted the duplicates and its back to normal
  5. Hi Just upgraded to LP9 and everything is cool except... Everything in the Media>Library, every folder has been duplicated. there are two of everything except the garageband stuff. any way to get rid of this? Thanks
  6. When you copy and paste an audio files region in the arrange window, all the regions are referencing the original audio file so when you edit one all are edited. you need to convert the region you want to edit to a new audio file. under the audio menu or use option-command-F
  7. You cannot open a blank sample editor window, it only opens with a selected audio region Do that in the arrange window use the ESX24 sampler. create a new sampler instrument and drag and drop your samples to it Hope this helps
  8. maybe you should just do it the way the ninja does it. it's not really using the tap tempo, but you will get the results you want
  9. all I have to do is set sync to manual and tap and it works
  10. sounds like the midi file may be corrupted. try opening it instead of dragging it in and see what happens
  11. once you you put in manual sync mode all you have to do is tap. the default tap tempo key is '
  12. it works, but what are the end results you are looking for? if you just want to set a tempo you have in your head or hear in a song, it works fine for that. you can't do a retard with it. I think the problem most have with it is two of the settings in the tempo interpreter. one being "max tempo change" for example if you open a default empty song, the tempo is set to 120 and lets say you try to tap a tempo that is around 100. the default max tempo change is set to about 4, so the best you will get is a tempo of 116 no matter how slow you tap. so raise that level and/or lower the master tempo that is already set in the project The other setting that may hinder you is the tap count in. It is set to 4 by default, which means you have to count more than 4 times just to get it started. The 1st couple of times I tried tap tempo, I would tap 4 beats and stop thinking that should establish the tempo, but that was just the count in. once I figured that one out I was able to make it work
  13. I just zoom in so I can see the grid lines in the arrange and use that as a guide to where I want to slice.
  14. a quick way to slice up a region is using the scissors tool. hold down option and slice at the 1st beat division you want and the whole region will slice up in those divisions
