  1. For a lot of the presets, I create both a plug-in setting (.aupreset) and a Channel Strip preset. Once I am already saving as a plug-in setting, it's easy enough to save the same as a Channel Strip (especially with the Command-Option-S shortcut). This way the same presets are accessible both as full-on channel strips and as plug-in presets when the plug-in is already loaded.
  2. Thank you to everyone for all the effort in organizing and uploading presets! Here is my first contribution: The factory presets for Nomad Factory's Magnetic tape saturation plug-in. Enjoy! Cheers... Syllogism MAGNETIC.zip Nomad Factory Magnetic presets
  3. Very useful information in the docs! Thank you for all the effort!
  4. Thank you so much for writing this! I have been going mad the past half-day trying to sort out why I cannot record volume and pan information from my external MIDI controllers....which I do have assigned within Logic's MIDI Control Learn. Is this information documented in detail in Logic's docs somewhere? Is there way around this, to have it both ways so to speak? It's quite strange, because the MIDI is obviously coming into the Mac (as freeware MIDI Monitor shows), but Logic shows no input, not in the Transport Bar, not in the Environment Monitor Object, and obviously not in any record-enabled MIDI track. Thank you for any elucidation on this! Cheers, Syllogism
  5. By the way, an excellent article on mixing with Folders in Logic is this one: Dynamic Mixing in Logic Sound on Sound http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar09/articles/logicworkshop_0309.htm
  6. Hell Ya, Why can't we do this?? Is it just too logical? SONiC Apparently. As far as I know, every other major sequencer has something like this feature. For example, in Cubase: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/may0...ubasenotes.htm And in Digital Performer: http://www.motu.com/products/softwar...k-folders.html This allows the best of both worlds: One can hide tracks away to clean up a cluttered Arrange Window, or one can expand and show as many of these folders at at time as one wishes, even opening all the play-enabled ones to see the entire structure of the piece.
  7. You can copy and convert the automation data. http://logicquicktips.blogspot.com/2006/10/copymove-automation-between-parameters.html
  8. Isn't that what Markers are good for? Markers are indeed useful....but I also like to see the specific regions and waveforms of individual instruments and parts all in one view, so that one can arrange structure accordingly.
  9. Hello - I have been trying out this approach myself over the last couple projects. The negative, however, is that one can no longer see the structure of the project as a whole in a single window. That is, I miss being able to see all the regions of all active tracks in their time relation to one another. Is there any approach that gives the best of both worlds? I wish we had an option for expandable track folders, akin to the way Take Folders open up, so one could see the contents of a folder within the context of all the other tracks.
  10. My problems with Folders were experienced under Logic 8.02. Always with the latest Mac OS (I believe it was 10.5.6 or 10.5.7 at the time). I haven't run into problems yet on Logic 9. However, this situation does not mean that all is well, since the corruptions are intermittent and unpredictable. Any other users with positive or negative experiences using Folders to organize projects, please add your experiences. Perhaps we can get to the bottom of this, or at least make sure Apple is aware of the extent of the problem. It does seem a bit of a warning that none of the included Logic demo projects use folders at all.
  11. Thank you for all the detailed info on the Folders disasters. I certainly hope that Apple will prioritize this problem. In large projects, some sort of folder functionality is quite critical for organization.
  12. Could you elaborate on the symptoms of the corruption? I've also experienced my first unrecoverable "Damaged Project" in Logic in years. This was also the first project in which I began extensively using Folders. These were the symptoms as I reported at the time, sure to strike fear in the heart of any Logician. Take a stiff drink before reading: "A Logic project now refuses to open properly. Logic immediately gives a "Damaged Project" warning upon attempting to open. If one clicks past this, one is greeted with a further dialogue about "Minor Repairs" with the option to fix. If one fixes, then the project opens with empty tracks. If one chooses not to fix, then the Track Folders appear, and many empty tracks assigned to "no output". The Folders are still empty." Oddly, I was able to open the project on a G5, but not on the Mac Pro. Both systems had identical versions of OS, Logic, plug-ins, etc. Still, the fact that it was the Folders which were so adversely affected makes me wary of using Folders further. ...
