Hi,
I've set up an environment for live playing where a cable switcher is controlled from my MIDI keyboard's physical buttons - to route notes to a different instrument each time.
I have an issue with stuck notes - if switching while keys are pressed, there is no "note off" sent to the previously selected instrument.
any hints or tips on this?
I've thought of two possible directions:
1. create 2 cable switchers, one will route MIDI to the required instrument, and one would switch to the "previously selected" instrument and route a MIDI All Notes off event.
Problem is, I can't seem to be able to program such a thing. I can set the value of one cable switcher e.g. to one-less than the other, but that's not quite good - it is mathematically 1 less, not "previous" instrument.
2. use a delay line to trigger an All Notes Off event, then trigger the cable switcher, but the delay only works if the sequencer is in play...
and besides it's not that good anyway.
so,
q. is there a way to send an all-notes-off to the "last before this" cable ?
is there a way to use a "switch cable when all notes are off"
that may actually be achievable if we count all note-ons and all note-offs I guess ?
anyone ?
btw, I really liked mainstage for realtime programming, but it's no where near as flexible as Logic's environment. I've gone back to that....
Thanks everyone
