  1. I see they're charging 99 dollars for 32 lives. They also have a special offer of 159 dollars for sylenth + 32 lives whereas sylenth on it's own is more than that. I find it a little fishy...
  2. Hi, I want to update Logic X on my offline computer. I downloaded it from the app store on my macbook (which cant run Logic), so I'm just wondering how exactly I go about updating my offline version (can't find the update that I downloaded!) Thanks as always, Paul
  3. Nah, doesn't work for me - probably because I installed it on my macbook. EDIT: This worked - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5173947?start=0&tstart=0
  4. Cheers for the reply. I have all of the content and packs etc downloaded (and moved onto an external hard drive). The problem appears to be the .app itself (cant find the DMG file?! I imagine it's temp and gets deleted) And when I go onto the offline computer and click on the DMG file, it tells me that I need to be connected to the internet to download the content!
  5. Hi, I am trying to install Logic onto my offline Mac. I downloaded from the App Store using my macbook. I can't seem to find the DMG for it, so after reading another thread, I decided to copy over the .app file. However, when I go to open the .app file, I get a message saying 'Your computer much be connected to the internet in order to download the Logic Pro Content.Check your connection and try again'. It doesn't give me an option not to download this content though (on this computer - I already have the content downloaded to a hard drive). Any ideas? Thanks for your help!
  6. Probably because VEP costs around 250 euro while Maschine and Bidule are pricey enough too, a lot of money just to get one synth working! Have you tried rewiring X with reaper? A lot cheaper, would be interested to know how it works from a CPU point of view.
  7. Well yeah, I don't agree with going out and buying VEP for example just to host sylenth. I am keen to explore the reaper/rewire route which is obviously a lot cheaper. I'll test it out on Logic 9 when I get a chance. Opening another DAW could hit the CPU usage, but I don't know how bad it would be. How much did you get for Sylenth?
  8. The point is that not everyone can afford to be spending nearly 200 euro on a synth (Sylenth), 180 euro on a new DAW, and then more again on another synth to replace the initial one - it only makes sense that people are looking for a workaround - I'm sure we would all rather do it differently but not everyone can afford to just throw away an expensive (it's all relative) piece of equipment.
  9. A lot of people who have paid 170ish euro for Sylenth would rather keep it instead of just ditching it and switching to another plugin and spending even more money
  10. What about just downloading reaper and hosting Sylenth there? Would add a bit to your CPU usage (dont know how much) but it's a lot cheaper (I would rather spend the money on new gear rather than spending another 100+ just for Sylenth etc). Hopefully something like that would suffice until a 64bit version is released.
  11. Hi, This is probably a daft question, but since installing Logic X doesn't mean that you have to replace Logic 9, does anyone here know if it is possible to rewire Logic 9 and Logic X? It would help with the 32bit plugin issue anyway. It's the best thing that I can think of without buying something like Vienna Ensemble Pro or a cheap DAW such as Ableton and rewiring through that. If anyone else has any other suggestions it would be most welsome. Thanks, Paul
  12. Hi, Could someone help me with a sound - the sound that is introduced around the 30 second mark, does it sound like some sort of ethnic violon? I don't have anything in my string library that sounds like it anyway! (HS Gold) Thanks for your help
  13. Hi, I know that a lot of you use the likes of VEP when running your more demanding set ups. I just have a question about screensharing which I'm sure many of you use. I am currently using a macbook and have a much more powerful desktop which I like to use for producing. I am moving apartment shortly and am not sure about whether I will have enough room for a decent monitor. So... I am wondering if hooking the 2 up using screensharing or a similar app would be a good solution so that I could essentially use the desktop through my macbook's screen. I have connected my macbook to the desktop via ethernet cable which works, but I get enough lag to make producing on it too awkward. Just to note that the macbook is leopard, don't know if that would make a difference. Has anybody here done anything like this? Thanks a lot!
  14. Just to add to this, Nigel - how do you find automation in VEP? I have heard that one can only automate volume, pan (and I think there was 1 more) from the master sequencer? Or, if you are sending midi from a sequencer, will all of the automations be picked up by VEP? I do a lot of EDM, so there is a good bit of using cuttoffs etc. Also, does anyone know if there is a way of transferring channels from the slave computer to the main computer by ethernet? Say for example I had all my tracks being done on the slave and wanted to send them across to the master computer. Then I would essentially use the master computer as a mixer, is that possible? Thanks
  15. Thanks for your help guys. Sounds like a great idea in theory, I was somehow under the impression that it worked for some but not all 3rd party plugins but must have just picked up on it incorrectly. It is a complete wasterof time for me if you can't use it for Omnisphere etc. It looks like doing all the production in the desktop and using a cable to connect the digital output of the desktop into the digital input of the macbook is the best method for me (other than VEP5).
