  1. Yes, thanks so much. It seems so obvious now that I should have checked the plug-ins across the stereo output. Thanks for your kind assistance!
  2. That worked! What??? For some bizarre reason, the Fab Filter Pro-L 2 was actually disabled even though it looks like it is on. The plug-in says my trial is over, although I own the plug in. Maybe this is a Big Sur glitch... In the meantime, for the benefit of anybody else who may encounter the no stereo output issue in the future, I was just on the phone with Sweetwater tech support and they recommended that I update my audio interface software and hardware (in my case, UAD) for the Big Sur OS that I'm on.
  3. FYI I had to retake the screenshot to show that the green bars were actually pumping away (except for the stereo output, of course)
  4. Hi, My stereo output has just stopped working all of a sudden. All tracks show green meters, but nothing out of the stereo output, meaning, no green lights, no sound. Just prior to this problem, I had deleted some unused plug-ins from Library > Audio > Plug-ins > Components. Did I mess something up by deleting those unused plug-ins? I deleted Zynaptiq INTENSITY, about 40 TR5 plug-ins, and Empirical Labs' Arousor. I had just figured out that Zynaptiq is not compatible with Big Sur, because it kept crashing a different project. I decided to do a little cleaning I can't figure out what I did. I tried quitting Logic. I tried restarting the computer. No sound all of a sudden. I can otherwise get sound, meaning that I can watch Youtube videos and get sound, for example. I switched Preferences > Audio > Devices to Built-in Output to no avail. Still no sound from Logic. Thanks! gear: MacOS Big Sur 11.2.3 Logic 10.6.2 UAD Apollo Twin DUO Model Name: iMac Model Identifier: iMac18,3 Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Core i7 Processor Speed: 4.2 GHz Number of Processors: 1 Total Number of Cores: 4 L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB L3 Cache: 8 MB Hyper-Threading Technology: Enabled Memory: 40 GB System Firmware Version: 429.80.1.0.0 SMC Version (system): 2.41f2
  5. Hi, Having returned to Logic Pro after a few years, I am encountering an issue that I never had before. How can I prevent playback of the current audio take while recording new takes over the same audio track? I am using take folders to record a guitar track. When I re-record the take, I can hear the existing take, which messes me up because I am trying to play a new lead line with some slight variations in order to be able to comp the best bits and pieces of all the takes. If memory serves, this behavior did not happen circa 2017 when I last recorded takes using the take folders. In the past, the existing take was muted when I was recording the new take. Am I misunderstanding something or is there a new default setting perhaps? Thank you kindly!
  6. I will get more aftermarket RAM, like you suggest. I am inclined to go SSD for the sample library since I will be using Omnisphere and I've heard that it's snappier to have the samples on SSD. Backup drive will be 7200 rpm So in my case the audio recording drive, you're saying, it's OK to be 7200 rpm HDD?
  7. hi triplets, I was going to go USB SSD for the sample library and audio recording drives, and then USB HDD for the backup. The iMac does have 2 Thunderbolt ports so I could go Thunderbolt SSD, but they are more expensive. Is Thunderbolt SSD worth it? Are you also suggesting that it is advisable to write audio to a HDD rather than SSD?
  8. After not recording for 6 years, and in anticipation of recording a new album, I am completely replacing my outdated computer setup. I will be buying a new late 2015 iMac for music production: 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display 4.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 4.2GHz 8GB 1867MHz DDR3 SDRAM - two 4GB 1TB Flash Storage AMD Radeon R9 M395 with 2GB video memory and I will be buying Omnisphere 2 Please comment on my external storage setup: system drive: 1TB SSD audio/session/recording drive: 500 GB SSD Glyph Blackbox Plus 512GB $230 sample library drive (just for Omnisphere at this point): 500 GB SSD Glyph Blackbox Plus 512GB $230 backup drive: either OWC Mercury Elite Pro with +1 Port 4.0TB 7200 RPM USB 3.0 $230 OR G-Technology G-Drive USB 4TB Desktop Hard Drive $180 I want to make a smart decision and would appreciate your help. I am a singer-songwriter and will be recording myself on vocals, guitar and MIDI keyboard. Modest track counts.
  9. What helped me was to expand the mixer mode and expose all of the various possible components. Sometimes for some reason or another a virtual instrument that you've used in a previous project can have unseen effects.
  10. The protect function can come in handy when you're at the end stage of project and you're deleting entire tracks. It has saved me a few times when I've had monster projects with over 100 tracks. Sometimes you lose track of things so it's good to protect the tracks that you absolutely can't redo (like vocals).
